After reading a few other people's posts, I'd like to reiterate what has been said about the maps. It is unlikely that a map which is good for 4v4 will also be good for 2v2 if they are identical so far as weapons are concerned.
Let me explain. In Halo 2, Midship and Warlock made brilliant 2v2s, as well as great 4v4s. But that was because there weren't many weapons. Warlock had a camo and 4 shotguns which were generally not used much as they weren't the powerhouse there are on H3, and Midship only had the sword and a shotgun. This meant that it wasn't possible for one team to completely dominate - there simply weren't enough power weapons.
But on, say, The Pit, there is:
Rockets
Sniper x 2
Overshield
Active Camo
Regenerator x 2
Sword
Shotgun x 2
Mauler x 2.
Pretty much on The Pit, if you don't have a power weapon, you're screwed. It's quite possible for a team to control rockets, both snipers as well as maybe shotgun and the regens. That works fine for 4v4, because there are twice as many people on the map, but just because it works well for 4v4 doesn't automatically make it great for 2v2. I think for Doubles, some weapons should be forged out so that they play well for 2v2. Of course, like Warlock and Midship, some maps will play well for both 4v4 and 2v2 - Narrows, for example, is a good 2v2 and 4v4 map, the only change I would suggest for 2v2 is to take out the shotgun.
Another thing that slightly bothers be is regenerators in BR gametypes. When THC first came out, in the statement it read something like, "Regenerators will be taken out as they are pretty much auto-win in BR fights". Why are they still in for BR starts then?
Many thanks.
