I agree 100% to this:

"the only thing i have a problem with is, playing the same maps. so what im proposing is that they change the veto system. instead of loading a map then vetoing. why not having a choice of three maps. the maps will coraspond to X, Y, and B. on the controller. and the maps with the most votes loads up and we play it. The other thing i would like to see is increasing the number of times the LEgendary maps show up in Team Slayer. thank you for making this thread. -Tony"

1. Release a new canvas style map to replace/supplement Foundry - a new map with more regular angles and dimensions. No beveled edges on the boxes; make all structural elements consistently sized to one basic cubic unit. And don't put any extraneous/unremovable geometry on the map. Doesn't matter if it's another boxy warehouse (this time with 90° angles) or a bowl canyon, doesn't matter if it "doesn't look next-gen." Might also be nice to see some curved structural pieces - maybe on a Covenant themed map? Just keep the curves & bevels off the pieces that are supposed to be angular. Those bevels, the floor-wall joints, and irregular geometry make Foundry much harder to work in than it should be: I shouldn't have to glitch to pieces together to make a flat surface.

2. Please make that "iridescent one-way glass" on Purple Rein removable in Forge.

3. Narrow the bullet spread on the BR. I appreciate that the auto-aim has been reduced from what it was in H2 - good call - but the bullet spread should match what it was after the H2 1.1 update. Normally, a thousand screaming children are just throwing tantrums - in this rare case, they're right.

4. Might want to actually reduce the number of playlists, instead of adding to them, and perhaps condense all the "wacky" gametypes in to one single playlist, like Carnage in Halo 2.

5. Please, please wipe that Hardcore Snowbound variant out of the rotation, unless you're going to match it exclusively with BR starts.

There are a few things that keep me from playing this game as much as I'd like:

BR Spread: Like a lot of people said, this needs to be made tighter and less random to reward people who have the skill to use it effectively.

Energy Sword: This was already nerfed by giving it a finite lifespan, why nerf it further by taking so long to pull it out? Any decent player can AR/beatdown or 4-shot some kid before he can take out his sword and lunge. It's no longer even a power weapon and only promotes camping in confined areas or around corners. There is no reason to balance this weapon to the point where it only kills just as good as the most of the rest of the Halo 3 arsenal. A power weapon should be one that kills that much better and easier than everything else.

Plasma Pistol: Another weapon that was double-nerfed. The draining battery while it's charged was a decent nerf, but nerfing the gun's homing capabilities just took it too far. This combined with long weapon switch times makes it relatively ineffective and unused in MLG gametypes when it could be a good power weapon (but only for the short span of its battery life).

Sniping: It was just so much better in the previous games. I don't know if it was the bullet registration/hit detection and/or the faster firing speed or something else, but sniping just seemed like a more smooth and rewarding experience in Halo 1 and 2.

Leveling system: Many other people have touched on this, so I won't really go into it. At least make it so your individual performance affects your level in that playlist. Hell, if you made it so it's impossible for the MVP of a game to level down (should the MVP happen to have been on a losing team) I'd be happy. I want to break my game disc whenever that happens.

All new maps should eventually be free: You said there are no current plans on making the Legendary map pack free in the future-- I really don't see the benefits of that. In the end I would think you just lose fanbase/players as a result. Not to say they aren't worth the money, but some people just don't have the means of getting them, and I, for one, just can't support Microsoft's point purchasing system.

I would like to see a way to choose a host in a custom game. I'm tired of having to join multiple parties just to get someone with a decent host.

1) Create new armor and colors that can be unlocked by earning medals. ex. there is a helmet unlocked when the perfection achievement is earned. (would like to see some darker colors, like the zombies in living dead). This would give us something to work for as well as customize our appearance.

2) Big team available on all maps

3) Work out some of the inconsistency and damage between BR and AR.

4) New forge map

5) Continue adding new map variants and games. I love the addidtion of team swat and MLG...keep going in that direction...

6) Change the starting weapons here and there

7) Making ranking up a more simple to understand process

8) Finally, just for kicks, has the community ever thought of a game with only grenades? Grenades are almost like a primary weapon for me. A couple of my buddies and i once played a 25 kill slayer game on guardian where we scattered plasma and flare grenades everywhere...it was actually alot of fun......

Make the BR like the one in Halo 2
Fix the hitboxs
Make it so you can veto the map OR the game
Bring back Midship, Beaver Creek, Warlock, and Sanctuary (Make them the same way they are in Halo 2)
Change bomb arming in assult
Fix the spawn system
Flag Throwing
Make touch return like Halo 2
New maps for competitive play
Fix the Head to Head playlist

i would like to see a team snipers playlist maybe even make it ranked.
and if you can make the recon armor unlockable or at least make some more armor i am tired of seeing identical spartans or elites

I don't make Halo, and I don't know how difficult this would be....

But if you could add time of day and weather effects to the multiplayer maps, and not just the new ones, it would be greatly appreciated. Standoff, Last Resort, Ghost Town, and Avalanche are BEAUTIFUL maps. It would be cool, and different, if you could make Valhalla have a sunset, or make it rain on Epitaph, or have it actually snowing on Snowbound, nighttime on Narrows and High Ground, etc.

Like I said, I have no clue how difficult this would be...

But I am thinking that the community would GREATLY enjoy this

off topic: this kid is the biggest NOOOOOB ive ever seen before. more equipment? WHAT!

on topic: 1v1 is the biggest matchmaking disater of all time. guardian/pit only, br start, no equipment and barrels that bad kids can shoot to kill you, radar instead of that indicator god aweful idea, no camo, no oversheild.

I would like to see another forge map like foundry, but outside!

It has every thing on it.I mean, every thing, not just weapons and boxes, but Tables, Chairs, sofas, give us some furniture, bungie! it would be great for more realistic maps!

Weather effects in forge, like snowy, rainy, sunny and windy.

Ability to change map terrain, for example, a Sandy map but you can change it so it has snow!

Ready made buildings that can be added and removed in forge.

Water in forge!

Snap to 90 degree grid (it would really help when placing walls in forge ;-) )

1) Fix the battle rifle spread (the out of zoom battle rifle is especially inconsistent)
2) Fix beatdowns, (use H2 beatdown system)
3) Spawns on most maps are tremendously more predictable than any of the other halo games. Even at the beginning of games now in Team Slayer game types you know you will spawn in either one of two places. More and better spawns need to be placed on most maps. It is annoying to have enemies spawn within just a few feet from me.
4) Slow-weapon switching is one of my biggest pet peeves about the game. Shooting after switching weapons or swinging after switching to the sword needs to be made faster, because it's annoying how much slower it is compared to Halo 2. A person can 4-shot me with the Battle Rifle before the time I snipe them once and switch to the Battle Rifle to shoot.
5) The ranking system is a complete bust. I believe reading a weekly update in the past about how they hoped the new ranking system would allow for players to be able to get matched up with people that have the similar skill. If so many people are able to get to the highest rank, then there are so many matches going on at the 50 level that people are truly no where close to the skill of their opponents. I personally have kept playing people near 50 and played some people at my “skill level,” but I have often been matched up with that are noticeably worse than me. I’m willing to go back to a harder level system to achieve the highest rank. I’m concerned about playing people at my skill level, not the rank.

90 degree snapping function in forge

It would be a lot better if for geometrically regular objects in forge - especially Foundry - like the walls, would have a feature to 'snap' to 90 degree angles. Or at least on other maps have a feature to snap to the floor or something.

I know this may be hard coded into the game without a feature anything like this, but I can't imagine it would be too hard to implement..?

I would really like to know the possibility of this, it would make Forging a lot easier.

I would like to see less lag. I know this is hard to update and this and that, but the lag is my biggest problem. To me, there is nothing worse than knowing you should have killed someone, but couldn't because lag threw off your groove, or even totally screwed you over.

To say that everything else is perfect would be lying, though the lag is my biggest offender.

Roll and Destroy

I like to preface this somewhat negative looking post by thanking Bungie for the fantastic games they've given me. Myth and Halo are some of my favourite series with Halo 3 alone garnering about 2,500 games played so far. This is not a "bash Bungie" post, nor is it me trying to say I hate Halo 3 or whatever. These are my considered opinions, and things that I feel would make the game MUCH better. I think Halo 3 is very close to being a great game, with only a few niggles which detract from the experience.


Decrease the BR spread, make carbine more accurate
-I know this is mentioned a lot, and there's a reason for that. If there was one change I could have then it would be this. The BR spread baffles me. I think "balancing" the BR by making it random and so less effective on average (ie, sometimes you'll get a four shot, sometimes you won't, because the game decides to send some of your bullets way off regardless of perfect aim) is really frustrating. If you feel the BR would become too powerful with this done, then lower the aim-assist or something. On the same note, it would be nice to have the carbine back to beta-like accuracy. It's simply not satisfying "out-BRing" someone when you think "Well, maybe I actually just got lucky with my shots hitting."

Make the melee system take skill
-The current melee system takes almost no skill. You cannot out-melee someone who knows what they're doing, because no one mistimes their melee by 100ms and you're never going to have a reaction time 100ms faster than someone. This is deeply unsatisfying. Adding some damage differential to jumping, running and standing attacks would be great, as would the ability to speed melees up by some form of melee combo. I know for Halo 2 you considered adding melee combos, and I really think they could be interesting. Nothing too fancy, just a way to melee slightly faster or something that you wouldn't even have to use if you didn't want to. Furthermore, I can understand why the current 100ms "instantaneous" melee window exists on Live, but on LAN it should be gone. There is no need for it.

Give the ability to host open custom matches
-This is more of a UI thing than the other stuff I'm talking about. I know you said you'd put up this option for Halo 3 a while ago, but for some reason it got cut. I don't know how much work it would be to implement, but it seems strange to me that arguably the best UI for any game ever hasn't got a feature that almost all other online games have.

Make forge more user friendly
-With forge at the moment, it takes hundreds of hours to make a perfectly put together map. Some way to align items and get them at the perfect angle and distance from each other would be fantastic, because the current analogue system is just painstaking for those wanting to create a precise map. Another thing that would be great would be an "undo" feature.

Remove the 100 custom items limit
-I had over 100 custom items in Halo 2, and now with forge, screenshots and theatre I reached that limit about two or three months in. I regularly have to remove stuff that I'd actually like to keep, and I have completely stopped taking any pictures now. I also have hardly any game variants because they all take up space.

Increase vertical damage of grenades and blast radius in general
-In Halo 3, you see a LOT of jumping. Far more than in Halo 2 or Halo 1. I think this is largely because grenades do far less damage vertically than in the past. I think grenades need a larger blast radius in general, with maybe a slightly longer fuse to balance it out. This is not a major concern for me, however.

Give an option to change acceleration
-The current settings don't allow us to change how fast we can change speed, essentially making 125% and up gimmicks as it becomes impossible to strafe as it takes so long to stop and then change direction.

Get more competitive, symmetrical maps
-Says it all. Symmetrical maps are half the work and twice the fun! Smaller maps would also be great.

Change the spawn system, or at least give us more control
-The current system whereby what matters most is where you and your team have died recently simply doesn't work for long ranged combat when you have maps with specific spawns for either team. If I kill someone who's far away from me, that means I make it much more likely that they'll spawn on me. Simply an option in forge or custom settings to change how exactly the spawn settings work with importance for each factor that makes the decision would be great.

Hit registration
-In all online games there is some issue with lag. This is more noticeable in Halo 3 because it's the first online game to offer a theatre mode (I think) which doesn't feature dedicated servers. Everyone has issues where they'll shoot someone and not hurt them, then they'll watch in theatre again and see - yes, I really did hit them. I know I have a clip where I hit a guy standing almost entirely still three times in the head with the sniper before he dies in a "green bar" game. There are even noticeable hit registration issues on LAN, which is better overall than Halo 1 or 2 for this, but has worse close range registration than either. I think this is something that really needs to be looked into, especially for LAN where there's no real reason for bullets to not connect.

Fix objective options
-Others have mentioned flag touch return, and it would be great to have the option back. Also, a "bomb arming" message would be fantastic for those who want to play classic-style assault. A smaller issue would be the inability to make KotH or Oddball last as long as in the past. Make us be able to put it up to at least 300 or so, please.

First of all, Halo 3 is the best online game, for now. There are many other games coming out and Halo 3 needs to improve if it wants to keep up. They need to put in a snipers playlist of some sort. They need to improve spawns in almost every level. They need to fix the ranked skill increase system because I played team slayer with one of my friends all night, he started the night at the skill of 25, I started at 19. He got MVP almost every match, I went all the way up to a 33 and he only got to 27. He was much more deserving of the skill increase then I was. We need to get rid of some of the pointless social playlists like rocket race. Dcl should be removed to. Many of the weapons in halo 3 arent used like the brute plasma and the specte, the gauss warthogs, and the flare and radar jammer, those would help improve the teamwork aspect of the game, I think halo's lost a lot of that aspect. Thanks bungie for the best game ever.
