first off, i really like what you guys have done with halo3, it's kick @$$!

but since you asked:
- flame nades (i know they hurt frame rate but just a few pls!!!
- a rematch button (like we discussed here)
- rather than just a veto button, a voting system to decide between two gametypes/maps. right now, if a map is vetoed, you get what you get. why not let people vote between two maps/gametypes
- ranked grifball!!!
- a windows/linux/mac based saved game film viewer (i'm sure this is extremely hard)

Look. Halo is a good game and it has been well designed, but you guys REALLY need to work on your playlists.

I have played 7 head to head games. Each game was extremely frustrating, even though i won every single one aside from a sword game which i quit out of due to my own bafflement that Bungie would implement this in a 1V1. . Since you label 1v1 a hardcore game type along with SWATand MLG, I think that they should always start with a BR and use the MLG settings.

After all, it has been successfully argued (repeatedly) that MLG game settings provide a much more competitive game as well as one where skillful players are given the ability to actually use their developed skills. I will add that the MLG community should be questioned before Bungie designs new stuff for Halo(even maps). Halo wouldn't be what it is today if it wasn't for the MLG Pro Circuit. Halo is a fun game no matter what, but any player who is actually good and has ideas for the games progression will be in favor of MLG balance or in favor of Bungies most balanced and true skill game (Halo 1) going Live. Of course Bungie deserves credit for making the game, but they really dont know how to create a mix of super competative/easy social gametypes that work in harmony. I think this should be left up to feedback from players who are familiar with the game rather than the developers whos ideas for XBL have not proven themselves to be very good at all in the past.


I used Head to Head as an example because it is what I consider the most unbalanced and poorly designed gametype. I have played MLG 1v1s since the early days of Halo 2, and it has always been on a small map like Lockout/Guardian with Br start, no radar, 1 Sniper, and rifles on map. Thats how it should have been made.

ATTENTION BUNGIE, THAT THE WAY PEOPLE WANT TO PLAY 1V1s!!!
ITS COMPLETELY BALANCED AND THE BETTER PLAYER ALMOST ALWAYS WINS!

The company's poor decisions are finally bringing me to this point of frustration where I feel as though all this writing here is for a waste, because I am sure that they will make another poor decision like NOT TAKING THE ADVICE TO MAKE Head to Head a MLG gametype.

Alright, please make more playlists for the MLG community. The MLG community isn't even remotely close to as big as the lesser skilled players, if you will, so I know you're more prone to listen and do things that they want because it's more profit. But there is still that one community of gamers that play this game to compete and a lot of us take it seriously. We don't want to play swat, we don't want to have assualt rifle as the starting weapon, we don't want to have all of the little kiddy stuff like power drain, bubble shield, spartan laser, needler, flame thrower...etc etc. You get the point.

I think the "Hardcore" playlist needs to be simply for the Hardcore/MLG gamers. So please, take out swat and put it in another playlist. Fix Head to Head to where it's not such a complete campfest. Head to Head, as it is right now, is a complete disaster. The waypoint is ridiculous and needs to be removed or have both players having it. Take out the random fusion coils laying around. Reduce the power weapons. Make more BR start gametypes for H2H.

Here are some suggestions for simply gameplay:

-Fix the BR spread(shot registration is way too inconsistent)
-Fix the spawn system
-Make or bring back some some of the old competitive symmetrical maps such as Midship, Sanctuary, Beaver Creek, Warlock...(I do want to thank you guys for bringing back Lockout though)
-Make the melee system more similiar to Halo 2
-Bring back the Halo 2 button glitches!(BxR, Double Shot)...I think this made it more fun and competitive to play.
-Bring back flag throwing(like in Halo 2)

Oh and here is a fairly old thread made back in October '07 that was posted at MLGPRO.com. It was a thread that dealt simply for improving Halo 3.

Everyone would love it if the BR shot straight. The spread of the battle rifle currently is sporratic and completely random. The year halo plays in is like 2552, right? So no one can say that the game is just trying to be realistic.

I think that we humans will have figured out how to make a gun shoot all 3 bullets straight out of the barrel in 544 years.

This is everything needed and more, excluding the late and TERRIBLE head to head. H2H is easily the worst thing ever designed in the world and whoever created those rediculous maps and gametypes probably has an IQ of around -42. And I almost forgot, Blackout is a highly decorated piece of poo.

Weapons

AR - a bit overpowered and too easy to aim could use recoil to make a bit more skilled.
BR - I like the changes that require leading shots and taking into consideration when aiming that 3 bullets are being fired; this requires more skill. Sometimes trajectory seems a bit random, if this isn't due to lag could you please make more precise and consistent.
Shotgun - a bit overpowered at longer ranges, would prefer if range shortened so better timing and judgement required.
Magnum - I think this should be made into a close range equivalent of the BR. Increased power and range at shorter distances.

General

Beatdown lunge - requires little skill and from my experience is very inconsistent. Would prefer if the range of the beatdown was effectively the range of an arm swing; this would require much more skill to use.
Hit registration - Sometimes I shoot someone in the head multiple times when they have no shield but they don't die. If this can be fixed it would certainly improve the game.

Gametypes

Please remove sniper games from team slayer and team doubles and create a snipers playlist instead. I think that snipers games are unbalanced because not everyone is good at sniping; in normal gametypes a wide range of weapons can be used. I also think sniping games are affected more severely by lag and connection/host advantage especially shotguns - living in the UK I lose 95% of shotgun battles because my opponents shot is always recognised first even though on my screen he fires second.

Please make all games BR start. I think this makes the game much more balanced - this way the player always has a reasonable chance of taking on opponents successfully. Similar to halo 1. AR games in my opinion are reduced to nade, nade, hold right trigger, strafe, strafe, jump, jump, beatdown.

Please remove ghosts from team slayer and doubles; very unbalanced and require little skill.

Maps

A completely blank forge map sounds good however could it be outside instead foundry's a bit grey.

More balanced maps like the pit.

I agree with others that wall textures/detail can result in unpredictable outcomes with regards to grenades.

Skill system

Unfair that you go down when someone on your team quits right at the start of the game. However I don't believe games involving quitters should be void because in a lot of cases people quit because they are losing so it's not fair on the winning team.

Draws - when you draw against players with a lower level in that playlist but those players actually have a higher highest skill and you go down.

Matchmaking preferences

Could a preference be added so that people in europe for example could search for other europeans in an attempt to minimise unfair connection advantages.

fix BR spread. i mean. i enjoy games that take skill and halo 2 was probably one of the best games for that. but i guess thats just my opinion like why would we want this game to be competitive not like its player vs player based and its MLG's top game and MLG runs bungies show now

- Give an option to choose X and Y axis sensitivity, also different sensitivity's for zoomed/unzoomed. I think a lot of people would find this useful.
- Make the BR like H2, making the bullets come out at the same time instead of at different times.
- Option to choose who hosts in custom games since the host selection doesn't always choose the best connection.
- Improve hitboxes/detection, to be honest the H2 hit detection was far superior to H3's.
- Option to fast forward a lot faster in Theater.
- Having to lead the player just to hit them on maps like Guardian, Blackout, and other smaller maps makes no sense, on most maps you can never be so far away that you should have to lead.

I really wish they would bring back more of the equipment. I know everyone tossed the radar jammer off the bridge on Narrows but I think it would be great for a team objective game as long as the team is willing to talk to each other. The flares and shields are pretty great also.

I'm getting really sick of looking at my HUD and not having any fire grenades for any maps. If the they are on only a few maps with maybe one or two spawn points with long respawn times? That way, people still get the use of them and it doesn't lag everyone to pieces. If it's limited to 8 players max, that would help also. Definitely not on a BTB game.

Outside of those concerns, the game is truly awesome, and thanks for providing a thread like this to help your customers and community make this an even better game.

When the new playlist of 1v1 came out i was dissapointed and felt that the arrows should be on both players the entire time. Also, i have an excellent suggestion for a new playlist. I have been experimenting with it in custom games on some of my forged maps on my other account and i found that TEAM TRIOS is extremely fun and it would be easy to put into a playlist. 3 teams of 3 on small to medium sized maps really changes the strategy involved to win. Yet, with this i have myself changed weapon layouts to make it more competitive and fair because obviously 3 teams on guardian and one team is going to get screwed but with proper weapon placement this would be an excellent playlist to incoorporate into the mlg playlist. Lastly, forge on foundry is fun but has its limits. I would love to see what the halo 3 community could produce if outside features were optional such as large trees or giant boulders. These two add ons could really produce some interesting forge maps with the current equipment

Oh and one more quick thing I want to add...please make the ranking system more similiar to Halo 2. In Halo 2, getting a legit 50 is simply impossible. In Halo 3, EVERYONE HAS A 50. It just gets old when every party you join there's 3 generals. I mean honestly, my dad is a legit 46 and he only got a 25 in Halo 2. Again, I know this is quite a big suggestion(at least i think), so it's not a huge request, but I'd like it to be more enjoyable/competitive and I'd like to know that I'm only one of the few people that has a 50 or a high 40. Again, though, I said similiar to Halo 2, not exactly like it. I want it to actually be possible to get a 50, but it needs to be more of a challenge to rank up.
