Watch out Gringos - Here comes El Zoido!

I know it's been said many times on this forum but my number one problem with Halo3 is the BR spread.

I've never played a game when you can be scoped in with a rifle and not hit where your reticule is.

I'd also like to see the AR weakened in some way - it seems too easy. Maybe less accurate or maybe less damage per bullet.

Finally, I'd like to see either a region filter or an improvement to the "better connection" filter as I still experience many laggy games.

Remove erratic BR spread

Take vehicles out of 2v2.

Do not have more equipment in 2v2 than players

Make equipment have longer spawns

Stop using host records to determine the host in a custom game please just let the player who created the party be host it usually takes like 30 mins to play MLG customs on a decent host.

Please make it so that the player who started a party is the one who has to host in theater not change it to a person who clearly has an inferior connection to me.

Region filter so Europeans do not have to play on US host all of the time and vice versa

Rumble Pit and Lone wolves should be slayer only FFA objective just does not work

Have a dedicated Team Snipers playlist

Allow more objects to be placed in forge such as the carbine for all maps.

Decrease the amount of times that swords and hammers appear in lonewolves.

Please get rid of the 20ft lunge

Make shotgun battles fair, im sick of getting beaten when i shoot first...

Remake midship exactly as it was in Halo 2. No shield doors or one way doors just as it was in H2 scaled to H3 size.

Does anyone even read these?

I'm really surprised that there are so many people here also complaining about the BR spread, I thought I was the only one.
I say this because I have made many threads showing with great evidence that the BR spread is messed up. I've done some test and the results aren't pretty.

Please Bungie don't ignore the BR spread problem, it should be fixed for the better.

WHAT SHOULD CHANGE!

- Standard BR in team slayer on: Valhalla, Standoff, Last Resort and Narrows. These maps are too large to play with the AR, on Narrows there are too few BR.
- Make next to the HC Snowbound a HC Epitaph for team doubles. It's all about camping with shotgun and rockets now.
- Take Foundry out of Team Slayer and Team Doubles, this map is nice for custom games, not for matchmaking! (real bad spawns)
- Fix the "Warthog problem" on Standoff! Best thing to take them out. The map is too small for 2 warthogs.
- Fix Head to Head! Give both players the red marker and take out the Rockets, shotguns and swords! It's HARDCORE!
- Take the Ghost out of HC Snowbound, I thought HC stood for HARDCORE. (You also have no laser anymore to destroy it)
- Shotty Snipers in The Pit: Delete the spawns on the topfloor (in the building) Your in a big advantage if you spawn there with a sniper!

I think a lot of small things should change in Halo 3, If you agree with this please repeat it. I won't make a difference alone.

Please Bungie Change these kind of things!

-Make sticky launches avaiable again, it really rocked in H2 and H1 (if you could hit in H1).
-Melee system, first to hit wins, no more most health left wins, i'm getting sick of it.
-No more remakes, in H1 were all maps awsome. especially the new HPC ones, Ice Fields, Timberland and Danger Canyon

-Make skip forward option in Replays
-Less AR's in big maps, they can't hurt at long range, put in some BR's instead

the melee system needs sorting. for instance, if a shoot at the person with the shotgun till he has no shield and go in for the punch. 99.9% of the time im going to lose. sometimes i can even hear the punch make contact then only to be killed by the guy who should be dead anyway. wtf bungie sort it out please.

I admit I don't really have any problems with weapon balancing issues (put those pitchforks down, I'm just a casual gamer), though lately I've been getting frustrated at lobby waiting while matchmaking sets up games. It's gotten to the point to where I've got a full list of "ready" players and then the search restarts (occasionally three times before actually setting up the game). I know connections are difficult to get right, but I would like to see the issue addressed.
Oh, and more specialty playlists, like Living Dead. It was a neat novelty list on Halloween, but now that it's gone by, why only use it on special occasions? And some other specialty ones would be nice. Rocket Race is a good example of one used in a playlist.
Also, on Big Team playlists (my favorite), it seems like objective matches are few and far between. I don't mind big team slayer, but on Big Team it gets kinda repetitive and I'd like to mix it up with more CTF/Assault/Oddball matches, too.

1. The Carbine

Allow players to spawn with the Carbine

Decrease the "spread" of the Carbine. To compensate for its new consistency, remove some magnetism and autoaim to make it just as difficult to use.

2. Grenades

Add an option in Custom game settings that allows users to toggle the maximum number of grenades between 2 and 4.

Increase the damage radius, particularly vertically, of frag grenades.

Change the bouncing mechanic of frag grenades to that of plasma grenades - it must come to rest before it explodes. This will balance the increased power. Users can avoid having grenades take a painfully long time to explode by placing them in a corner or similar area that will minimize its bounces.

3. Melees

While ingenious, all the solutions in Halo 3 for handling melees online had unforseen side effects. Keep it simple - remove the counter window or drastically decrease it. Remove any code that judges a melee winner based on health or other factors besides timing. If this doesn't seem feasible on Live, implement it for the System Link code only.

Lower the auto-aim on the melee lunge so that landing melee attacks isn't a foregone conclusion for most players.

4. Individual Weapon Damage Options

In Custom Game Options, add a menu in Weapons and Damage that allows you to move a slider on each and every weapon, scaling individual weapon damages rather than all damage.

5. Higher Resolution in Speed and Gravity Options

Include more iterations for the options controlling the amount of gravity and player speed.

6. A New, Improved Canvas Map

ALL scenery objects do NOT respond to physics in Forge mode. Every piece of scenery will mesh through any other piece of scenery as if it were the edge of a door. No scenery will fall if placed in the air, nor will it drag and rotate due to friction.


The canvas is huge and outside, but the ground is completely and totally flat.
All boxes, bridges and ramps have no rounded edges or unevenness. They are extremely simple prisms. In addition to these normal pieces there is:
1. A "Boundary" piece that has parameters exactly like a Respawn Area. This creates a box of solid walls useful for enclosing a piece of the level.
2. 1 Grid piece that can only be placed in the very center of the level. Like a respawn area or hill, it appears when highlighted by the cursor.
3. A pillar piece.


EVERYTHING uses EXTREMELY conservative textures and bitmaps to conserve RAM. Every item besides several problem items (namely fusion cores, lights etc.) have NO ITEM LIMIT. The map is constrained only by the money budget.

The textures on the main building components - Boundary, Wall, Box, Ramp, Pillar, Bridge, etc. - can be toggled between 5 colors: Gray, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green.

I'd like to see flag carriers who drop then pickup the flag three times in a row die instantly, as a suicide. Then maybe people would stop being blam!-holes. At least you could mute the announcer's voice so its not so bloody annoying when morons do that.

Being able to boot after the first betrayal, and being able to boot by popular vote even if the other person isn't betraying per se would be nice. When somebody constantly drops a sheid drainer on their base in Valhalla they need to be booted even though they aren't technically killing anyone.

More Veto options. Veto type, map or both. at least show us what we'd get if we veto, I hate vetoing an average type/map and getting stuck with a sucky one.

More game types/map variants. Where's juggernaut, ninja ball, zombies? And if you're gonna have a Covies variant, go all the way. No human weapons/vehicles.

I think that you should put sniper rifles for team slayer on standoff. One of the best maps to play on for team snipers, but when you get to play team slayer, there are no snipers.

Bungie, I love Halo 3, but there's always room for improvement. Fellow users, if you like these ideas (I know it's a huge wall o' text), please quote it.

Gameplay
- Fixed hit box; player (bullet registration), powerup (touch pickup), and flag (touch return)
- I know you said the BR spread was working by design, but can you tighten it up
- Another melee fix: Halo 2 system of standing still, running, and jumping damage variations
- Rather than both players dieing, how about a melee battle for all weapons (BR - BR, sword - sword, and BR - sword)?
- Splash damage, up for grenades and for rockets (seriously, I can use it like a shotgun and not die)
- Slightly nerfed camo, or atleast make it so when a camo is hurt, they are visible for more than 1/10 of a second
- Nerfed power drain and regen
- Nerfed AR (maybe 5 or 6 hp instead of 7)
- Fix custom powerup glitch (if no shields, you only get the temporary traits, not the actual powerup [maybe it's only for OS though])

Settings: Custom and Otherwise
Not sure if any of these are possible via an update, but I can dream...
- Tightening of BR spread
- All customization options based on a system of 5's (rather than weapon damage being 75, 100, 110, 125, etc.)
- I know the Custom Control Layout wasn't included due to options that couldn't be done (i.e. fire on A button), but couldn't the options simply be blocked? Fire would be kept on the triggers, and I think everything else could be put on any other remaining options (if not, they would be blocked as well)

Pre- game and Post- game Lobbies: Matchmaking and Custom
- Party leader of custom game should always be host
- Improved veto system, either a) three options to choose for games, mapped to x, y, and b; or b) have an option to veto the map (x) or gametype (y)
- Films can be saved from the post- game lobby

Forge
- Ability to choose a gametype to play in forge, rather than having to manually change the settings, in order to playtest maps and fix bugs on the fly
- If possible, update all previous maps with new forge items (I'm sure if this were possible, it would have already been done by now)
- Take off item limits (not budget limits) for certain items, such as double boxes; alternatively, atleast increase it for important items such as those
- Make certain textures physically invisible. What I mean is, Imagine being able to place a flat ramp on Avalanche because the ramp would sink through the snow to the angle that the Forger wants, rather than staying lopsided on top.
- We love Foundry, but could you please give us a perfectly square, high ceiling, not over done with textures map like this one.

Theater
- Wait time significantly reduced for watching of clips with friends
- Being able to record clips and take screenshots while people are in the party, or at least make the feature available once they leave, even if they were in the film from the start

Aesthetic (Not Important, just cool)
- Guns that have camo similar to vehicles on Avalanche
- New colors (if possible, even if DLC)... army camouflage, maybe?

I know some of these ideas may not be possible, and not all will even be looked at, but I ask that you please consider these ideas, and most of the other ideas said by people. Thank you.

What about possibly thinking of a new playlist called Ranked Slayer Challenge?

If you have a party, you would be able to find another party and be able to challenge them for points.
Team start out by picking the map that they want.
And you play for EXP each player will put in 5 EXP.
And then the winning team gets the winning exp divided.


Also for head to head. you should put in a shotty snipes or something. also get rid of the red marker over the head it kind of makes it unfair.

Whenever someone (or the host, I can't tell) leaves a game, and everyone goes into that "loading please wait window," all of the weapons and powerups on the maps respawn automatically. I just thought it was sort of a weird glitch. It can certainly change the outcome of a game. I wish it could be fixed somehow.

Oh, and in Theater mode, I would love if you could use the left trigger to rewind how you use the right trigger to fast forward. It would also be cool if you could skip ahead in the film instead of having to fast forward through the entire thing to get to see something at the end of a game.

Make Head to Head more MLG based, instead of Crazy King on Blackout. If you're gonna have indicaters, then at least put them on both players - therefore, you're not being punished for winning.

Make shield doors removable on built-in maps. Snowbound would be alot more fun and/or competetive without them.

Neutral flag?

Why doesn't the announcer announce when the bomb is being planted in your base?

Spectator mode in custom games.

No item limits in forge. The budget is enough. And, there shouldn't be set items for each map on forge. The pallets should be updated, so most things can be included. Obviously, the artwork of the pallet could still be influenced by the map.

Reduce the assault rifle's damage. It takes shield down way too fast, it should be more like Halo:CE's.

Halo 3 Beta's carbine. I think it was alot more effective.

Make the flags lighter (like Halo 2), so they're easier to throw.

And, of course, the introduction of more maps. Midhsip/Sanctuary please? =D

1. Reduce the melee lunge slightly. The distance people lunge with an AR at times is mindboggling.

2. Tighten the BR spread slightly. THe spread is crazy inconsistent. Tightening it up just a bit would go a long way.

3. Vehicles shouldn't land on their feet so easily. When I stick a hog and send it flying 30 feet in the air while flipping 50 times, when it lands it shouldn't land on its feet nearly every time. If it flips that much, it should crash and they should have to get out and flip it manually.

4. BR and AR start for all games. This game favors the AR far too much. I want to throw my tv out the window if I get Team Slayer on Last Resort again.

5. Bring back the Team Rifles gametype. I LOVED this gametype from H2.

6. More mid sized arena maps.

7. Adjust the default weapon placements of certain maps. Epitaph needs completely reworked weapon wise. Snowbound could use work too.

8. FIX THE SPAWN SYSTEM. Seriously. It's pretty bad at times and I know you know it. Blackout spawns are downright insane. I'll spawn 2 feet behind the enemy and just assassinate them. Highground, when controlling beach area, people shouldn't spawn behind you or right next to you.

9. Remove the pistols from team snipers.

H2H

PLEASE for the love of GOD fix this playlist so that it actually favors the better player. It is practically impossible to hold a lead even after achieving map and weapon control because without radar or a waypoint both superior skill and superior strategy are defeated by crouch walking, camping, blind grenades, lucky spawns, and needler spam. I can't explain the frustration of taking a 3 point lead on a 47 opponent (i'm a gunnery sarge btw) only to be killed in ways that would never be possible without the ridiculous handicap placed on the winning player. If you are winning, its because you are the better player. This is a hardcore playlist and the losing player does not deserve to be handed free kills that let them steal a game from a superior player. As is, this gametype encourages camping and generally cowardly tactics rather than an actual test of skills. The needler should be removed from this playlist entirely, waypoints should either be balanced at all times or removed, and radar should either be on for both players at all times or off.

On a side note, I've played 10-15 games in H2H to date. I am a sergeant grade 2 with a highest skill of 7. The lowest opponent I have played was a highest skill 24. During this first 15 games I have played 5 games against 40+ opponents including a 47 colonel, a 46 gunnery sergeant, 2 brigadiers, and a 3 star general. Having lost only once to an opponent under 35 (being edged 10-9 and 6-5 by the 48 and 47) and with victories over players as high as 38 and 39, I am a 5. Look don't get me wrong, I'm flattered that trueskill thinks I'm a brigadier, but WHY THE EF am i being matched with players a minimum of 30 skills higher than me without leveling past 10?!?!

Please, please, PLEASE fix this asap.
