Make the strafe more useful by making it less sluggish and more responsive. I got on H2 the other day and was amazed by how much more useful the strafe is in that game even with all the massive auto aim.

Overall player speed at default needs to be increased for ALL playlists. Anywhere from 110-115.

Aim acceleration needs to be COMPLETELY REMOVED from the game. It's annoying and hinders good aim.

Frame rate needs to remain constant on all maps. I don't want to play a game on Pit, and have my aiming be relatively smooth then get Foundry, and feel like there is a 2 ton weight lagging behind my reticule.

BR spread completely tightened ala H2.

Reload glitch fixed.

Add momentum melees and different melee strengths for Standing, Running, and Jumping melees.

Decrease melee hitboxes so one can actually miss a melee.

Speed up weapon switching across the board.

Speed up rockets and increase splash damage. Basically, make them a power weapon again. I also don't want my rockets getting randomly deflected in different directions because a grenade blew up next to them on their ten minute flight to my target.

Grenade damage increased, especially vertically. Allow for up to four grenades of each type to be stored.

Fix Custom OS so that when picked up even with no shields you get the full OS.

Fix inconsistencies with Sword, sometimes I'll hit someone with it and it'll make the clashing noise but nothing happens.

Spawn system revamped so people respawning respawn AWAY from the action, not behind or in front of enemies.

Revert flag and all objective gravity back to H2 or H1. I miss tossing objectives and having them bounce 3 or 4 times. Please Bungie! For me!

Revert bomb system back to H2's. Right now all they have to do is plant the bomb step back and spam grenades guaranteeing a score.

Allow all weapons to be a starting weapon including Beam rifle, and Carbine.

Fix hitboxes, particulary those with the Sniper. It gets frusturating seeing blood squirt out when I clearly hit the shot and having nothing happen.

Touch return!

- Some of the barriers on the maps are far too low, like you would jump/grenade jump from a high spot and get slowed down in the air.
- Team Snipers playlist with Human Snipe + Beam Rifle(like in H2)
- Make the equipment have longer spawns in matchmaking, perhaps decrease the number of them.
- Make it that whoever hosts the custom game gets connection host.
- Remake Midship exactly as it was in Halo 2.
- Remove way points + objective games from 1 v 1.
- Perhaps get Halo: CE pistol back. :)
- FFA and 2v2 MLG playlist.
- Option to play people from same country in matchmaking
- Ability to watch Film Clips in theatre as it doesn't seem to work.
- Ability to forge out shield doors.
- Clan matches.
- More forge options, abilty to float, join, merge etc scenery items.
- Don't have to press the "Push to talk" button in custom games.
- Can hear opposite team in matchmaking.
- Ranking system could do with a sort.
- Don't make melees deplete sheilds completely, so that head melees and running melees have more of an effect then melees while standing still, more like the Halo 2 system.
- Make objective pieces one hit kill when hit to the head, and two hit kill to body.
- Ability to add clan tags to the front of name, even if you don't add clan matces or clan support.
- Increase the speed at which weapons are switched.
- Ability to throw flag.
- Make rockets moar powerful.
- Make touch return, touch return.

That will do for now, I hope you take into account the more competitive scene of Halo and thanks for the good job so far.

Allow a carbine start from the customs menu, tighten the BR spread, increase grenade strength, increase RL strength, and (The hardest change, and just one I've thought about personally) the ability to increase individual weapon strengths.

Last one's just kind of something that would be really cool to add into the game, but I understand the numerous pages of code that Bungie would probably have to do in order to do so.

This thread cannot be taken serous. Basically everyone here just wants stupid stuff added like more fire bomb grenades and sandtrap in the team slayer playlist. Or why not make your amazing forge map and official map in the doubles playlist.


Bungie- you need to fix your game before you try to make things better to cover it up.
-the melee battles suck. the system sucks. there should be little to no lunge and whoever has more health should win.
-fix the battle rifle spread! Why should it take like 6 shots to the head to kill someone when they have no sheilds? And dont tell me i suck with Br. 1v1 right now.
-re-think each playlist. Last resort, Valhalla, standoff, and high ground should not be in the team slayer playist. Im not just saying team slayer, but you get my point.
-have the option to choose host in a custom game.

Okay before you start bombing on my post keep in mind im not one of thoose MLG freaks. i play MLG from time to time. It seems to be taking over halo. Most of what im saying is in regards to the team slayer and team doubles playlist, since ive been playing plenty of that lately. Let the MLG kids tell you what they want for MLG

1. Freeze physics on forge. Most people use forge as a map maker and not as a play space. I'm all of leaving it as a play space but how about making it so that one can optionally free the physics on objects. Making maps in forge is way harder than it needs to be and the quality of some forge maps suffer as a result.
Sure, there are some awesome maps out there right now, but they could be better if Forge was not such a pain in the butt to use. Also, why do walls keep falling when I place them? It is so damn hard to give them a perfect 90% angle because of these stupid physics!!!

2. The assault rifle is way overpowered. I mean, I know you guys wanted to make the "perfect" starting weapon but you don't even have to try with this new assault rifle. In the old Halo (Halo 1!) you have to strafe and burst-shoot to out-shoot someone. But this new one is just effortless.

3. Motion-blur is annoying. Does this happen in any other game or something? It is non-existent in splitscreen but is EVER SO PRESENT in full-screen.

4. Why is aiming so jittery and so awkward in fullscreen as opposed to splitscreen? Many believe it is due to aim acceleration. Whatever it is, fix it.

5. Warthog and ghost handling is sluggish as hell. I swear it feels so horrible that I almost never want to use them as opposed to Halo 1 where I actually felt like using them from time to time.

EDIT: Also whatever happened to grenade-chain-reactions in campaign. It was fun for campaign man and nice for messing around.

fix the AR- it's way too powerful to be a starting weapon right now
make the pistol a little more like CE( faster shooting, scope; it was stupid how it could shoot farther than a rifle though)

-The clear solution to this is to stop matching players based on their Trueskill. Being a skilled player does not mean that you should have to beat commanders to reach lieutenant. If the system believes you are playing at a level of 40, it should allow you to reach that level- not simply find you harder and harder competition until you get stuck playing colonels and brigadiers as a 30-35.

-Obviously it goes without saying that ranking up is too difficult. Strength of victory, position within one's team, K/D, and medals (especially high skill medals like multi-kills and sprees) MUST be taken into an account. Winning a team slayer game 50-10 as MVP with 30 kills, an invincible, and a perfection counts exactly the same as winning it 50-49 having been dragged kicking and screaming by your more skilled teammates and finishing with a K/D of 3-20.

Another thing with the br, leading shots wouldn't be bad ONLY if the distance that you have to start leading the shots is longer than from sniper tower to the middle of the ring on guardian. Make it so that the minimum distance is about from the sniper tower to the gold lift at least.

The main thing I would work on is the spawn system, It is a joke on some of the smaller maps like blackout. It seem like u spawn behind someone all the time.

The next thing i would work on is the BR spread alittle spread isnt bad but all the time i shoot some one right in the face and only 1 out of the 3 hit. This also goes with hit boxes.

A couple of the glitches could use some fixin like the double reload, objective beatdown, ammo regain and the custom OS.

I think that they shouldn't have sword matches in ranked play, they dont require as much skill and by now everyone knows the b trick so its just not that fun

I totally agree with RC Master, just playing enough is actually helpful for progress. I mean, the whole skill lvl crap is really frankly an idiot's dream. If a game forces you to play on a certain playlist you absolutely hate but you want to be rewards, than there's a problem. I personally gave up on ranked matches when I became a Colonel. Reason? It was frustrating as hell. If Bungie was to get rid of the Skill crap, there wouldnt be as much elitism. Another thing I never could understand is the lack of rewarding the player. It gets boring having to go through repetition to get something at all. An example of this would be Recon. Isn't it enough to NOT ask for the armor. We're giving you a bit of relief, so give it to those who DO NOT ask for it. I feel as if Bungie isn't using everything that's available, oftentimes I don't even bother playing the original versions of any maps. I actually end up placing a bigger variety of weapons of weapons on maps and my friends say it's actually fun. Would you rather be stuck with a Battle Rifle or have a choice between a Battle Rifle and Carbine. It makes it more fun if there's more variety in what's available. Main point is to give more varietyin what's available and actually reward the player for being MANAGABLE, unlike the elitist noobs who hack others for Recon.

Remove the rockets on Epitaph, or just plain remove that map from Team Doubles. It doesn't play well, and it's just a power weapon map. If you don't have rockets, you're screwed. Also, the shotgun is a bit overpowering on that map due to the shield doors, replacing it with the mauler may be a better idea.

Really, I just can't stand to play that map the way it is. I veto it as soon as I get it, and I fear to veto other maps that I dislike, because I don't want to get Epitaph.

What would be nice would be making massive de-leveling an offense that can lead to being banned. Granted, it isn't cheating per se (more on that later), but it is in fact extremely unsocial behavior. Recently, running into General ranked players who have -150 experience points is a drag in two ways: by quitting the game at the start of the match, they not only cause a problem for the team they quit out on (causing them to be outnumbered), but they mainly seem to do it to get matched up against players with low experience, often in the lower enlisted ranks. This causes the match to be too one sided, making the game no longer fun for newcomers, and possibly driving them away. This is different to having a second account to gain high rank with low experience, as the first reason is not often seen, and there is almost no telling whether a person has a second account or is just really, really good at Halo.

As I said earlier, it is not cheating in a sense that they are manipulating the game play, modding the maps, or making unfair use of glitches, but it is extremely unsocial behavior, right along people who scream obscenities into their microphone, make racist comments, or harass other players outside of the match. All of those don't effect the game, but are seen as offensive unsocial behavior, and therefore, offenses that can lead to being banned.

While Bungie may not be able to ban them completely from XBox Live, they (as they have done in the past) should step up, increase the bar of what is to be expected with online multiplayer, and show everyone else how it is done.

-Shotguns in swat is a bad idea
-have shotgun vs shotgun like beatdowns how both people die
-have the rockets taken out of 1v1
-and if you not gonna do that atleast reduce the ammo
-spawn points should not respawn a person in middle of level
-make radar permanent in 1v1
-well duals probably could be gone as long as theirs radar 1v1 is plenty fair
-MAKE team snipers a ranked playlist, it was very popular in halo 2


Read this: It might be a good idea to hold tournaments on weekends, they could do doubles and slayer and not ranked but have some kind of brackets, this could definetly be alot of fun

yup, especially the BR spread, i love it in halo 2.
All of those suggestions are very valid

and the respawns NEED to be sorted out, like on SWAT you get spawned right in the middle of the action and get spawned killed. It happens more on Blackout than on any other map. Ive lost quite a few games because of terrible respawns, it should take into acount how much cover you have.

Hope Bungie do this list would be ausome! =]

Subject: Improving Halo 3

Another thing, but not really a problem about Halo 3; My first encounter with Halo was Halo: CE on the PC. The PC maps were completely awesome. For some reason (most likely at the time due to memory limits) the maps on the PC are extremely large when compared to maps in Halo CE (Xbox version), Halo 2, and Halo 3, which made for great objective games. Infinity and Death Island come to mind when I think of the larger ones.

For those who haven't played Halo on the PC, you could fit two just about two whole Sandtrap maps into one Death Island map. The map had two tanks, FOUR Banshees, and just made for some great CTF games.

With the greater limits of the 360, why not create a large map that is not shaped so much like a rectangle (Valhalla, Sandtrap), and more circular (Death Island and Infinity)? Understandably, lag might be an issue, but you guys did make four player co-op a possibility!

I know you can do it, Bungie!

I think "balancing" the BR by making it random and so less effective on average (ie, sometimes you'll get a four shot, sometimes you won't, because the game decides to send some of your bullets way off regardless of perfect aim) is really frustrating. Make the melee system take skill
-The current melee system takes almost no skill. You cannot out-melee someone who knows what they're doing, because no one mistimes their melee by 100ms and you're never going to have a reaction time 100ms faster than someone. This is deeply unsatisfying. Adding some damage differential to jumping, running and standing attacks would be great, as would the ability to speed melees up by some form of melee combo. I know for Halo 2 you considered adding melee combos, and I really think they could be interesting. Nothing too fancy, just a way to melee slightly faster or something that you wouldn't even have to use if you didn't want to. Furthermore, I can understand why the current 100ms "instantaneous" melee window exists on Live, but on LAN it should be gone. There is no need for it.

Give the ability to host open custom matches
-This is more of a UI thing than the other stuff I'm talking about. I know you said you'd put up this option for Halo 3 a while ago, but for some reason it got cut. I don't know how much work it would be to implement, but it seems strange to me that arguably the best UI for any game ever hasn't got a feature that almost all other online games have.

Make forge more user friendly
-With forge at the moment, it takes hundreds of hours to make a perfectly put together map. Some way to align items and get them at the perfect angle and distance from each other would be fantastic, because the current analogue system is just painstaking for those wanting to create a precise map. Another thing that would be great would be an "undo" feature.

Remove the 100 custom items limit
-I had over 100 custom items in Halo 2, and now with forge, screenshots and theatre I reached that limit about two or three months in. I regularly have to remove stuff that I'd actually like to keep, and I have completely stopped taking any pictures now. I also have hardly any game variants because they all take up space.

Increase vertical damage of grenades and blast radius in general
-In Halo 3, you see a LOT of jumping. Far more than in Halo 2 or Halo 1. I think this is largely because grenades do far less damage vertically than in the past. I think grenades need a larger blast radius in general, with maybe a slightly longer fuse to balance it out. This is not a major concern for me, however.

Give an option to change acceleration
-The current settings don't allow us to change how fast we can change speed, essentially making 125% and up gimmicks as it becomes impossible to strafe as it takes so long to stop and then change direction.

Get more competitive, symmetrical maps
-Says it all. Symmetrical maps are half the work and twice the fun! Smaller maps would also be great.

Change the spawn system, or at least give us more control
-The current system whereby what matters most is where you and your team have died recently simply doesn't work for long ranged combat when you have maps with specific spawns for either team. If I kill someone who's far away from me, that means I make it much more likely that they'll spawn on me. Simply an option in forge or custom settings to change how exactly the spawn settings work with importance for each factor that makes the decision would be great.

Hit registration
-In all online games there is some issue with lag. This is more noticeable in Halo 3 because it's the first online game to offer a theatre mode (I think) which doesn't feature dedicated servers. Everyone has issues where they'll shoot someone and not hurt them, then they'll watch in theatre again and see - yes, I really did hit them. I know I have a clip where I hit a guy standing almost entirely still three times in the head with the sniper before he dies in a "green bar" game. There are even noticeable hit registration issues on LAN, which is better overall than Halo 1 or 2 for this, but has worse close range registration than either. I think this is something that really needs to be looked into, especially for LAN where there's no real reason for bullets to not connect.

Fix objective options
-Others have mentioned flag touch return, and it would be great to have the option back. Also, a "bomb arming" message would be fantastic for those who want to play classic-style assault. A smaller issue would be the inability to make KotH or Oddball last as long as in the past. Make us be able to put it up to at least 300 or so, please.

Snipz on Standoff in matchmaking.I get tired af winning 5 games in a row and not ranking up,and then lose the 6th and going down in rank.Fix the problem everyone has with H to h.AR sux

Beatdowns and weapons are FINE, except for BR spread. AR is fine, in fact they changed it from Halo 1 so it will actually be used, so seriosuly stop whining about it. BR spread should be fixed, ALL weapons available as starting weapon in customs and on forge, more accurate forge options, and more vehicles like the prowler and guass.
