1. Allow weapon lowering at LEAST on custom games on XBL. I don't want to have to invite friends over to just lower guns for me or twist my hands between two controllers.

2. I have a good solution to the vetoing system. Have a "preferred maps/gametypes" menu. That way, you can activate that as a filter and get matched with people with similar tastes without having to veto.

3. Also, you should be able to veto before the map loads. I mean, come on. Someone with a laggy connection is in the game and is taking forever to download the map/gametype. Why can't I veto then so we don't have to wait so damned long for the first map to load, veto, then wait for the next map to load?

4. Also, when more than half the players veto, have it switch right then. This is just a small annoyance, but it's still annoying to wait for a countdown even though the game has been vetoed.

5. KEEP the broad variety of playlists. People are like "OMG NOT ENUFF PLAYERS PLAYING TEAM SLAYER OR W/E." That's because they don't WANT to play your favorite playlist. They want to play what THEY want to play.

6. Allow backing up in campaign films. Damn, if I miss a good screenshot, I have to play the whole goddamned film again. Angryface.

7. Allow every object from every map in forge. It really helps machinima-makers to put their ideas into reality. This is within reason, of course. A tank on Ghost Town wouldn't even fit. But most stuff will fit. In my opinion, if it fits, put it in.

8. Allow weather effects to be placed in forge, or even in the gametypes lobby.

9. Forge campaign. I want to fight eight hunters, WHY THE HELL NOT >:( Again, within reason. Placing enemies might be a problem, because they're scripted to do stuff, and if they aren't, they break the flow of the map. But guns and vehicles would be leet.

10. Allow people to put weapons in the drop pods.

11. Remake Death Island. THAT MAP IS WIN.

12. Allow black as a secondary color. I think it's a cool accent, but would be overused if put as a primary. Same with steel. God, it's such a cliçhe to use steel.[/rant]

13. Tone up the snow-hornet. God, it's sad that its guns are worse than a 'hog's. In a one-on-one ghost vs. hornet fight, the ghost wins. FAIL. But keep the missiles off.

I know this is numbing because nearly everybody says it, but it means a lot to me that we can do this. Many companies are like "WE MADE THE GAME, STFU." I have to be Tru7hful, Bungie is one of two video game developers that has forums and asks its community how it can improve its games.

My above post is refering to people like this guy. These suggestions don't really help "improve" the game. They are just random things that he thinks would be fun, are not realistic, or don't actually have anything to do with this game. Like who cares about machinima. Bungie is not going to make things based on the machinima makers. And forging campain. That is not possible. That is just not realistic and would just take way to much memory to be able to ever allow you to do that. Bungie please don't listen to people like this guy. Look for things that you guys think are genuine and can actually "improve" the gameplay of Halo 3.

Age Group Filtering:

I enjoy playing H3 with my friends. During such times we generally mute the other team. It isn't that we want to mute the other team but rather, in order to enjoy ourselves, it is necessary to mute the other team. The anonymity of Xbox Live breeds jerks of all ages. It has been my experience, however, that the youngest of those on Xbox live are the worst offenders in this regard.

Hence, I would love nothing more than to filter players by 'Age Group'. An ideal solution would allow me to choose '18 and up', '25 and up', '30 and up', etc...

Lastly, I do not think it is even necessary to require users to enter their age nor is it required that Bungie or MS validate such. The system could be a simple binary filter. If you choose '25 and up' then you are most likely of the same 'Age Group'. In this way anyone choosing '25 and up' would draw from the same matchmaking pool.

Such a filter could either, pre matchmaking, determine which pool I draw from when attempting to find/join a game and/or filter, from the larger pool, those voices which are outside the desired 'Age Group'.

Thanks for listening.

I think that adding clans and clan battles back into the mix would be amazing. I miss playing with a group i got really close with. Also more customizable options for your created player, like other player classes (flood types, regular soldiers), would be nice.

Please don't listen to these fans complaining about BR spread Bungie. They don't understand that the BR spread perfectly fits the head hitbox within a certain range, and they lack the capacity to keep a steady BR, and the ability to lead. The BR spread isn't random. People should learn how to stop swiping.

BTW. The AR is a close range-to-medium range weapon as a form of equalizer. The BR beats the AR at far range, and the SMG> both at close range. People need to stop complaining about a perfectly fine rock, paper, scissor balance.

Please don't listen to these ignorant Halo 2 fanboys Bungie. I prefer my games to take skill, like Halo 3, and Halo CE. I don't want Halo 3 noobified, like Halo 2 was noobified. Please educate the fanbase. Competitive games take skill, and Halo 2 didn't take skill. It was an FPS lite for casual gamers coming into the market.

My references to the fail-hornet didn't apply?
are not realistic
You're not serious?
Like who cares about machinima.
Bungie does. They've put a lot of effort into helping the Machinima community out.
Bungie don't listen to this guy.
Last time I checked, you aren't Bungie's judgment. Also, if other people want it (and I know a crapload of people who do, and they're all not the same type of person, not biased), it would be logical to put it in. And on the forge thing, I knew it was probably not possible, but I was basically saying that if it was, it'd be a cool thing to put in.

  • 06.09.2008 4:38 PM PDT

Well they say the sky's the limit
And to me that's really true
But my friend you have seen nothin
Just wait til I get through...

The reason you cant lower weapons is because it needs to be tested for possible exploitation. BXR anyone? Seriously this was ALREADY explained by them, so really. And I don't see what is wrong with the BR. Any problems are just with the user.

Like who cares about machinima. Bungie is not going to make things based on the machinima makers.Bungie did make the filter effects on the new maps. They do not improve Halo 3 in any way and some make playing almost impossible. Some are pretty useless. I'd like to see them implemented in the old maps, though.

I made a post earlier, but this one is more detailed with more ideas.

Realistic changes:
MVP should be based off of the best kill death ratio. One, it's much more fun having it be a surprise at the end on who got MVP rather than just the person with the most kills. Also, it could cause players who want to achieve MVP to try better tactics in staying alive to lower their death count. That causes better team playing as well. A fix on the results of MVP is definitely needed. A person with, for example, 23 kills and 22 deaths can get MVP over 23 kills and 6 deaths because it seems to randomize when people tie top kills.

The only playlist where VIP should not occur is in Multi-Team. Having multiple VIPs just doesn't cause teams to try to protect their VIPs as much as in larger two team gametypes. VIPs end up just running around and ignoring their title.

Allow some certain campaign items in Forge. There's no invincibility powerup available, for example.

Allow the ability to allow objects to pass through other objects while being held by the moniter. This isn't too important, though.

Why does the driving assist medal get in the top three medals over so many other medals? It replaces laser kills, for example.

Why were so many post game statistics taken out? Knowing how many times you killed a person was useful and it also showed who betrayed other team members. This is no longer in the statistics except for on the Bungie website. Also, the shots fired and accuracy was cool to look at after games.

One thing I really don't like is that holding the back button no longer shows a game's score goal. I never know how long King of the Hill or Oddball games are going to last.

I know that death messages, when a player dies, show up as either green or red at first, but they change to blue immediately to match the color scheme of the HUD. These messages should stay either green or red to help distinguish between teammates and enemies in large games such as Big Team Battle (I never pay attention to my teammate's names).

I want to fast forward faster. Campaign videos are long. I know there's problems with it, or else Bungie would have added it in, but rewinding is needed in campaign videos.

Hopeful changes:
One of the main things I'd like to see are more armor permutations, Elites especially. One thing that dissapoints me is that there is no unlockable armor in the Elite permutations for when a player completes all of the challenges (and there's two for Spartans). While many players do prefer Spartan player models over Elites, I think it'd make sense to bring more Elite permutations before Spartans. This is actually one reason why I play as a Spartan rather than an Elite.

Edit: Perhaps a helmet that's kinda shaped like the Arbiter's helmet for an all achievements Elite helmet?

I think in the beginning of any game you should start with no weapon

Halo 3 is just fine for me... I'd like to see a patch so I can use my Halo 3 controller sceme to play Halo 2 and Halo: C.E. of course... with the unavailable options disabled but the same buttons for the rest.

even if the fuel rod was added I don't see why its the only weapon not in the game for Live anyways

One among millions; just the nearest visible right now.

I now have an actual suggestion:
BALANCE TEAMS.

I play a lot of Halo3 late at night, as I'm doing right now, and it's extremely annoying to get a BTB Assault game on Sandtrap when my team is 75% splitscreen players and the enemy has none or very few. I notice the same thing happen when my clan jumps into Social Slayer/Skirmish. We'll be loaded up on guns from here to Hawaii, and the enemy comes waltzing in with 4 dudes on one screen, and their unlucky 5th Man, or Odd Man Out.

Talk about a bad day for the "fodder team."
People shouldn't even have to call one team fodder- it should be Guests VS Guests.
Halo2 had implemented an effective system to this extent, it seems pretty behind schedule that Halo3 didn't launch with this type of balance. We demand reperation cookies, with milk.

What the -blam!- are you talking about. The reason the BR is -blam!- is because the spread is not consistent its erratic. WHy the hell would you put any BR spread at sort range on a game being played over the interent which is not on dedicated servers is beyond me,. Maybe you pull host every game so you dont have to lead a mile.

Oh please, Halo 3 is incredibly "noobified" as you put it. Lowering the spread on the BR would actually make the BR much harder to use, but ultimately more skill-rewarding. Rock, paper, scissors is a terrible type of balance, especially for a FPS.

Here's a good thread (that got locked) explaining why, if you're interested : http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=16622396

- Team Snipers play list
- more in the Rocket Race play list
- New armor skins
- Remove team rockets, at least on Valhalla gosh does that suck
- Hornet on more stages, don't take off rocket shooting capability on it!
- Maybe the tank on a stage or two!
- New stages, BEAVER CREEK!
- Make the brute playable, or maybe some UNSC soldiers mwhaha

Now I'm bored.

1) Make it so that if I'm a 40 in Team Slayer I don't have to keep beating other 40s in Team SWAT just to get to level 5 in Team SWAT.

2) Create a Team Sniper playlist.

3) Eliminate current playlists that consistantly have under 5000 people in them. There's no reason to keep something that not many people play.

4) Make the game more Hardcore player friendly in Ranked, more noob friendly in Social. More BR starts in Ranked TS, fewer in Social Slayer; more "traditional" slayer gametypes in Ranked, more non-traditional in Social, etc.

5) Specialize the playlists so that Ranked TS is almost all BR starts, Social slayer is almost all AR starts on larger maps, etc. That way, if I feel like playing Shotty Snipers, I jump into the Team Sniper playlist instead of going into Social Slayer and hoping I get lucky.

6) Eliminate Sniper Rifles in Laser Tag. According to the Optimatch Poll, not very many people that post here like them. Consider making a variant where everyone is invisible. That's just my opinion.

7) Make a Laser Tag weekend playlist.

8) Make a fiesta-style weekend playlist where weapons, gametypes, and even team settings are all random. If popular, consider making it a Social playlist.

9) Give Recon Armor to top weekend playlist performers again. This would boost Double EXP Weekend attendance. Or, give Recon to random top performers in random playlists. This would likely boost general playlist attendance.

10) Have Bungie employees post directly onto the fan forums more often. It excites people and makes them think, "Hey, maybe if I have a really good idea then somebody will tell me 'I see what you did there,' too!" That way, more of the better-qualified forum watchers will post more often.

11) Make the BR spread/damage more consistent, but keep the speed of the bullets realistic (as is).

Change your matchmaking ranking to one unified rank. I am really tired of running into Generals at rank 35 who dominate a game. Ranks are there to provide balanced matchmaking why not unify them and truly rank people of equal skill level.

If just one rank isn't enough, maybe have a team rank and a Free For All rank .

A permanent team snipers server and more Valhalla in team slayer would really be nice as well.

The fact that you dont agree with my view that the BR spread makes the gun ineffective in some instances and you attribute that to my lack of ability to maintain steady aim makes YOU then one who is "ignorant". You automatically assume that a legitimate problem with the BR is because of my lack of skill. This is a judgmental statement, generalizing anyone that feels the same as I do without having anything factual to back it up. Most will agree that a weapon that takes more precision to use should ultimately win the battle at a medium distance, thus rewarding the more skilled player.

"...and they lack the capacity to keep a steady BR, and the ability to lead."
TRUST ME when I say that this is a statement you are not prepared to prove. Perhaps you would like to make your point with me as your guinea pig? What a joke...
