woah same here but I thought that everyone else would know what those meant so I just didn't say anything. I understood RF switch thingy (what you use to hook up consoles to old school TVs) and the yellow thingy that's on the TV that you hook up consoles to. N/??? what's that?

Wait I think I got it. He's tried many means of connecting his xbox to his PC using: RF mods and standard red, yellow, white inputs but he has had no/none luck.

I think the real question is what the heck are you trying to do with that. Play Halo for the PC and Halo 2 console at the same time. Hey we could put that on the FOX channel after COPS....

Cops? That show still comes on? Anyway, I understand that you are trying to hook up your XBOX to your computer. But the question is why? Do you think you need to hook it up to a computer to go online? Because you don't, I am not sure what you need cause I don't have an XBox but I do know you don't need a computer. Is there some other reason?

^^^^

You can do that, or you can get the XBox USB adapter. It connects your xbox to a USB port, and costs about $20. Although I would like to know why you're doing it (some modding/hacking/etc...but you'd probably know the answer if you were). Besides, if you don't have USB 2.0, the quality is really bad because, well, old USB 1.1 just can't handle a video signal.

To get S-video, you need a video card with a circular black input...yours may have it. Tell us the card and I can probably tell you if it has it.

I read this as you want to play your xbox on your PC monitor?

If I'm right, here's how you do it;

Assuming your monitor can handle HDTV and you have an NTSC Xbox, you need one of these.

There are a couple of catches though.

1. You said Sony Vaio. I've tried this on a Sony TFT monitor before and they don't support HDTV signals, your best bet is to call sony and ask them first. Most CRT monitors will handle 480p/720p HDTV without much drama though.

2. This will not work on a PAL xbox. Microsoft lock out the HDTV option from PAL xbox's. there is a way round this, but not one I can tell you about on this forum.

Hope this helps.
