I really hope covie weapons are stronger..... dont get me wrong in SP covie weapons were pretty good but in MP they sucked A$$..... so i hope that they do power up the covie weapons.... it would make sence too cuz they are suposed to be much more advanced then we are........

In general, plasma weapons are better at eating through shields and human weapons are better at ripping up flesh.

Still, overall, humans have some ridiculously overpowered weapons. The shotgun is lethal at close range, outperforming all the Covenant weapons and humans weapons are the only ones that have a weapons that work at medium to long range.

They are not more advanced they are imitative wich basically means they are too stupid to invent their own tech.

i think you also have to consider accuracy. the human weapons in my opinion have much more accuracy. it has been said though that the covenant weapons will be worth picking up this time around.

Human weapons may be more accurate but Covenant weapons have a homing feature, even the plasma rifle. I've noted the Plasma rifle is more valuable at range with it's homing ability then the assault rifle though in close the assault rifle beats it.

One thing Bungie seems to have forgotten is that plasma is so hot that firing the rifle would basically incinerate anything in front of you.

has anyone remembered the muscle cramps/stalling the plasma creates...? I'd like to see you take on a decent tank driver with an assault rifle. Covie weapons own human weapons short/medium range fights. The only human advantage is long range (sissy pistol, and sniper rifle)

Perhaps you should read up on Plasma Science since that statement is entirely in error.

My thumbsticks will be your Doom.... sorry 'bout that.
My Stats

Ahh.. the age old question. Which are better?

When I firtst picked up the xbox controller and played Halo CE it was clear to me that the human weapons were familiar (how many other FPS have you played that had a pistol and a shotgun in it?) but Bungie did an AMAZING job with the feel, look and the handling of these weapons (how many had a pistol that could zoom?).

Then encountering the totally original arsenal of Covie weapons was very interesting/inticing and besides the Needler it took a bit until I noticed that the plasma actually "heat-seeks" a bit (that sorta makes up for the slow velocity of their shots) and they "freeze/stun" the enemy (you!) when hit.
I have not played Halo for the PC so I have not tried the Flamethrower and Pasma Launcher.
but human weapons are not unfairly powerful infact they are realistic if anything. I think the logic goes that plasma fire drains energy shields (and shorts out electric things in general...hello plasma pistol goodbye Sentinels) and human weapons do what they do best... tear $hit up!

So all this with the fact that you can only carry two of 'em makes me -as of late- choose a plasma riffle and AR when going into a heads on battle. First unload plasma until your target's shields drop and/or just as the PRiffle overheats up -switch to the AR and cut'em down. So I will not vote (sorry...) if I had to choose I'd go for a human wep but that's just a natural instinct and that's what makes instances like that in the books/story so cool.
As for Halo 2? I think the overall logic will stay the same but the strategy of it will be increased (obviously with the dual-weilding and still getting to carry one other weapon!) but it's still gotta and gonna have the flavah, the E3 stuff this year looks really good and Nov 9th is making this summer so long....

I think Covenant weapons are better but I'm a covie fan anyway.
the actual truth is both are good in their own aspects and should be acknoledged as such

Specialty : Sniping.

There never was a good knife made of bad steel.
Gamertag IF JESUS PLAYED <------Link

i believe it all depends on the situation, but as most of u have said, and it's true, the Ar is good to take out the health bars while the plasma pistol or rifle is good to burn up ur shield..however,there are two weapons in this game who are incredibly powerful and should not be overlooked, the needler and rocket launcher,at mid range ,the needler is the most powerful one ,let along having homing capitabilities, and the rocket well, all around weapon eventhough it sucks at long range becuz of the speed, but close and mid range,it is indeed the most powerful one.

Well, I believe both sets have there own certain situations where they become more effective. If you are running right behind an enemy, you want one of the two plasma weapons to freeze them and catch up. But there is a larger assortment of Human Weapons that could be effective in pretty much any situation imaginable. Covie weapons seem to be for assistance in a handful of situations where they would excel. So overall, I guess, human weapons have it.

dynasty is pretty damn right... if anything he is the shrink telling you what you dont see.

shot gun is powerful in one hit up close... but whatever. its all about whether or not you hit the person and there dead in one hit. if you play halo enough you realize that the shot gun really kinda sux.

the plasma rifle can make someone unable to move/shoot at you from medium/ short ranges. and it trears up shields, so if your close to overheating, then smack, and a kill, or with the plasma pistol holstered, switchsmack. and the plasma pistol becomes as good as anything if you are good with it. fastest smack, instant sheild kill, fires faster than plasmarifle, can hide grenades in the charge shot. and when you introduce double smacking, the shot gun seems almost useless due to its inability to work well at medium ranges. 2 shots or even three is way to long of time to leave yourself without attacking. the Ar i find an equal to the PR, but its better against more people where as the PR is better one on one or with a teammate. the pistol is overpowered, but if you play like bungie intended and go custom, its all fine. it has possibly the worst smack that you might use-aside from the SSM.

and plasma tears apart overshield like the player never picked up a powerup.
