This maybe hard for you to understand, but "auto-aim" make halo 2 more skillful.
"How?" you might be wondering? Think about it, people with good strafes tend to win most battles, assuming both players have a BR.
Yes I know there is more factors then just "auto-aim" and strafing. Lag is a factor too, but I can't change the the fact that halo 2 takes more skill....

If you cant understand what I'm saying then don't flame me for your own lack of brains.

Yes, halo 3 is a good game, but not skillwise.

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

*nods head up and down* agreed.........skill wise its terrible

Why are you here?

Auto-aim makes it harder, because it makes your opponent better too.

You aren't aiming, you aren't doing the basic of game yourself.
Aiming and evading>Evading

Formula1 and other drivers used to be more skillful in the past when cars didn't have all the assists. What if hockey players wouldn't have to aim, but they would have to be faster? Now we come to variety and small parts each game and sports consist of:
Mastering 20 aspects of hockey>Mastering just 1, speed for example.
Mastering 20 weapons of Halo>Mastering just 1, BR for example.
I appreciate all around sport like basketball or hockey more than simple 100m sprint, of course you might have another opinion.

Still, the better player or team wins most of the time no matter what's the competition. Halo2 demands different things Halo1 and Halo3 do. Less aiming, more BXR, less specialisations of weapons, more BR.

Halo 3's lesser auto-aim has a draw back: The BR is inconsistent.

In Halo 2, the only good thing about the huge auto-aim and hit boxes was that it made the BR consistent by compensating for the BR's bullet spread that was the result of the BR firing in three-round bursts. In Halo 3, the lessened auto-aim doesn't compensate for the bullet spread, so it's much more difficult to four shot consistently. I wouldn't call it a giant flaw in gameplay, but it's still significant.

When you mention the fact that strafing is more difficult and evading the enemy takes skill, that almost made me change my mind. It's going to take more than that to convince me that it takes more skill than H3 or other shooters in general, however.

In Halo 3, however, you can increase the running speed which facilitates strafing, and increase damage so you'll have a weapon that can consistently four shot players but you'll have increased strafing speed to deal with that, which is essentially the MLG playlist settings. It's not perfect, but I think it's valid and takes more skill than H2's game-crippling auto-aim.

98% of the people who play this game are garbage. If you're one of the 2% who isn't, copy & paste this into your signature.

I think both take skill in their own way. Halo 3=lead your shots Halo 2=strafe+button glitches

That's got nothing on Halo PC, though. :)

Phoenix is dead, long live Phoenix!
Is it?

Is it just me, or did we have this same type of discussion about Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 when the latter came out?

If so is there a discussion about why Halo 3 takes more skill the Halo: Combat Evolved? If so we will have gone around in a full circle and ended up with the one truth that is universal in the First Person Shooter industry.

Every game has its own unique skill sets, no one game requires more skill than the other, they just require you to be skillful if different areas.

So in summation I disagree with you. In the area you were talking about, and the areas that you alluded to you might be right, but overall, Halo 2 does not require more skill that Halo 3.

So please, discuss the differences, and even your preferences, but do not make generalisations unless you have critically analysed every aspect of your topic question/statement.

This is impossible. Somebody with X's at both ends of his name just said something that made sense.

How do games get better if we don't criticize them? There are significant flaws in each game and it's important to acknowledge them so they're not made again.

:P

I totally agree, it is just that it is hard for the developers to get the critical feedback that they need from the community as a whole without places like bungie.net. They must have gained something from the thousands of forum posts, because how did they manage to fix some of the problems Halo 2 had if they didn't? (rhetorical question).

I dont understand what your saying because you didnt say anything pertinent. All you said was Auto aim and strafe = skill which is wrong since even less auto aim (halo3) would be harder to control and therefore take more skill to get the kill since your putting more effort into it.. your argument is broken, and your not good at Halo 3 so you naysay

Less auto-aim makes it easier to aim on your own, although that may not be true for every one, but its sure true for me. I am good at halo 3, and i suck at halo 2, but according to your logic I should be better at halo 2? Considering you think auto aim = less skill?

You fail, get out of my thread. No morons allowed.

How ironic, you call him a moron and you're the one that gave the link to a you fail website. If you've ever read the rules you would know that that is against the rules. Maybe part of the reason you are good at Halo 3 is because of all the players playing. With so many people on Halo 3 you are more likely to run into the unskilled players.

YF (This is all opinions. Ergo, this quickly becomes a fight over difference of thought.)

Yeah, didn't we just have a...what, 5-6 pages long topic about that?

Listen to Mr. HimM Oone. It's Halo folks. Sure, criticize THE game, but there's no logic in comparing the amount of skill needed to master one or the other.

Who cares what takes more skill?

Halo 3 is funner in my opinion.

Sure, maybe it matters if you are in to things MLG (wich is fun, I am just not serious about it), but even then, MLG has moved on to Halo 3 also.

I just started playing Halo 2 again and I love the old BR and Sniper, but Halo 3 seems to have more variety.

Halo2 to me seemed about controlling the map and being good at surroundings. H3 i dunno its a cluster-blam!-. I dont play it much so I cant comment too much on it. But with the fact that everygun is an instakill with no skil. Seems cheesy.

Some guns are harder to play with yeah but, spawn plus R = win? No thanks.

You aim yourself, you move yourself, you think yourself= You are doing the match, you are good or bad, it's all you and the others.

Do you think Halo3 should have automatical hand shaking like in some war games? And other factors that aren't dependant of players like random airstrikes and such. That's like biased referfee in hockey, you need more skill to win when he is sided with opponent, but it isn't natural event.

Halo2 requires different things Halo3 does. They are as skillful in a sense as the better player wins most of the time. Halo3 is more weapon variety and Halo2 is more BR and power weapons. Halo2 is less about aiming, more about the moving.

The best player of all FPS always wins without any assists or randomizers.

I can win Formula1 races without assists, but lose with assists on, is that because I'm weak?
