How do I do it? I've tried updating the drivers but it refuses to look good. Are there any cheap yet good graphics cards that i can get?

hmm not realy. by that I mean there are not realy any cheap yet good graphics cards out there. There was once a realy good sticky post on this forum called "the Buyers guide to graphics cards" but it got blacklisted because the guy who posted that thread got blacklisted. now everyone is asking question about graphics again because they cant read his post. *sigh*

I have an ATI Radeon 9800. works fantastic.
I used to have a GeForce 4 ti 4200, this was a cheaper card. Worked great. eventualy, dust built up inside its fan assembly and caused the fan to stop spinning, and then the fan melted and i had to go buy a new card. hence the Radeon.

Yeah, youre talking about SLD's "The Buyers Guide To GRaphics Cards", right? Its still there, and SLD just got un-blacklisted. Go check it out. Its also a sticky post, so its always at the top of the forum.

How often should I dust my card?

I like to pop open my computer every 1-3 months to clean out basic dust in the fans and on the cards/mobo. However, in my older computer, my 9600XT has been running, with a fan, for 4 years, and has never been cleaned.

Most newer cards heat up faster, mainly because the faster computers get, the hotter they get. Just clean it out every once and a while to be safe.

SLD & GreenxPanda, you two have desktops that you can pop open. What about a laptop? Have you ever heard of anybody popping one open? If so, how? Ive got a hp pavilion...

I just went to check my dad's laptop...

Looks like you can't, really. All you can do is slide out stuff and do the best. Undoing screws and such could cause it all to fall out. If you have a video card like the laptop I investigated does, it might be able to be slid out. Either that, or you can contact the company and ask.

SLD has more than enough computers.

Hmmm...no way to clean out the fan. Da-BLAM!-n.

well, there is a way, but it involves going into the laptop, which is a tricky ordeal. if you mess one thing up, your gonna regret it.

Or u can pay 4 a pro to do it. They're more reliable and if they mess it up then you sue the company and get loads of money. Worked for me.Its also cheaper than a new laptop.

p.s:I dont need any more graphics help cos i got a new graphics card. :)

Good point, if you're too daunted or unsure just take it to CompUSA and be like...yo, clean it now.

I have 3 computers:
Dad's laptop which he uses
Penitum 4 1.8GHz VAIO (ugh, sony)
The new AMD 3200 monster :D
