What if multiplayer had music much like the campaign or better yet if you had the ablility while hosting a game over live to rip your own sountracks so that all players could listen to your music and of course if they didn't like it they could turn it off through options. I think it may be possible with the new xbox live features coming HOPEFULLY!!

Halo and Halo 2 did not have sound tracks like many other games. The music is actually played through a music engine. According to what I have seen the difference of the music engine is such.

Halo 1, you reached certain areas and action started your music started, it faded out after action was gone.

Halo 2, your music has several types of cues that are story oriented, also in other areas the number of enemies you are facing, the type of enemies, where you are, your skill level all result in what type of music you play.

I feel that if there was music in multiplayer it would make it very very awsome. Music is the fifth dimension in gaming, it allows so much more of an empathic responce towards the character in the game. I have trust that Bungie will do what needs to be done.

I like Marties stuff, its awsome.

I think that if you wanted to listen to other music, a cd player would be better. Thataway, your not wasting somebodies time at Bungie who could be working on finishing the game to get a 5 cent solution running. Cd player, speakers. There ya go. Otherwise your wasting a lot of resources that could be used in game to keeping framerate high and what not to playing other music.

WHAT WOULD BE COOL IF EVERYONE (MULTIPLAYER LIVE OFCOURSE) COULD ONLY LISTEN TO THE MUSIC OF WHO EVER HAS THE MOST KILLS . IMAGINE IF THE GUY WITH THE MOST KILLS IS LISTENING TO SOME N'SYNC, THEN HE'LL GIVE US A REASON TO TAKE HIM OUT.

I think that you should do both, but the host cant transfer the ripped song over the internet, its a copyright issue. Plus, no one is going to want to wait 30 minutes waiting for everyone to download your playlist, before the game starts. But I think you should be able to play your own custom soundtracks. Also, you could switch to Marty's Music, and that could have a built in feature, where when bullets start flying around your head, the music picks up its pace. Also when the flag is captured, the music turns suspenseful, and the pace quickens as the flag gets closer to the enemy's return point. The pace could also quicken, when someone is reaching their number of kills in slayer.

Plus, the host shouldn't give songs to all the players, for another reason. He could play a relly bad song, like ricky martin, and it will give in an unfair advantage ;)

I liked SilentHunters idea for the dynamic music that deals with gameplay, although during CTF, if both flags are gone, the music could help locate the enemy flag carrier....

To solve bandwith issues, probably it would be best if all the music was done by Marty O'Donnell, and all that needs to be sent it is the request for it to begin, since it would be on every CD. If you want your own music, just turn off game music and turn on a CD. Also, as stated before, that won't lead to music taste clashes.

One thing, that I am almost sure has been mentioned before, would be dynamic puma music, that is determined by the driver (one song choosen from a stash on the Halo 2 CD, so once again less bandwith needed). The problem with that, of course, would be the extra processing power, and bandwith, required for such a feat. It would still be cool though.

Yeah I dont like the idea of host choosing things other than Marty. And cant you get viruses and crap?

No on the viruses.

Besides, I don't want to listen to crappy bands like Linkin Park, Good Charlotte and/or Billy Talent on a host's server.

I'd much rather listen to my music playing over XBL.

If we had Marty's music it would be awesome. I'd implement it so that there would be a number of multiplayer soundtracks, possibly depending on the map, and of course, the option to change or turn them off from the menu.

Halo's music is excellent, and allowing custom music would ruin the mood that Halo's score creates.

But forcing other players to listen to someone else's music is a bad idea. Not only would 10 - 20 tracks have to be transfered at the start of each game (not going to happen), creating immense lag, some n00b could put crap music on, designed to annoy others.
