Subject: When is an assist calculated?

Hi, I'm new to the forums here, and couldnt find a search function....

I had a big Halo party last night, and captured all of the stats. What I am trying to determine is,

** when does a player get an assist point? **

If a player only hits an opponent 1 time, but someone else finishes them off, do they get an assist? Or do they have to drain something like, 50% of thier total health before it would count as an assist?

Thanks!

Okay methinks that if you get a guy to like 1 health then someone else smokes him wiht a rocket then you get the assist and the other guy gets the kill

If you injure them and someone finishes them off you get a assist but I never calculated what's required. I always wondered what if I injured everyone with my sniper and didn't finish them would I get the assist? Never thought about it but I like the stat

Get one or two hits on them with any gun (except sniper, rocket, shotgun, tank shell) and if someone finishes them off for you, they get the kill, you get the assist. Assists don't matter in any game besides Slayer, or Team Slayer, any other gametype is about killing.

If I'm trying to determine how good a player is (for future team balance) I would like to take it into consideration if it is significant. I have thier standard kill/death ratios, but now I would like an addiitonal score that takes assists into account. There are a couple players where the assists are pretty significant, and if I should weight and assist at say 25% the value of a total kill, I would like to do that... but if it is only say, 5% of a kill, then I will disregard.

Thanks in advance

Yeah I have an excel document with every stat as well, kills assists, deaths, ctf's, time etc...... but anyway...are assists good or bad? I can see it both ways. It is good if you like are smoking a guy with the AR then some guy picks him from half way across the map, you got robbed.....But it can be bad if you just are terrible with the pistol and you use like a hole clip and you cant kill him and someone else takes the kill cause they are actually good. To summarize, it can be bad because you can't kill them efficiently enough, or good because you got totally robbed.

I think that because assists require atleast two shots with most weapons, then an assist would be worth like two thirds of a kill(like maybe 66%) Unexpected 82 brought up a good point on whether you get robbed or if a good player steals it. To this I would say, If that person really was a good player who just got robbed, then his stats will still be higher than say a player with low accuracy, and if your statistics are accurate, this will show.

Assists are when your not man enuf to finish off someone.
