Although Bungie is making the energy sword a usable weapon in halo, will it be worth it? Are there really going to be melee only games in halo 2? And even if there were, how boring would that be, just running up to someone and meleeing. As you can see from the E3 Directfeed video, the only defining feature that sets it apart from any other melee attack seen is that it has a lunge attack. Even with this new ability, does it make it much different from any other melee attack? Thank you for your posts.

When you slice someone with a searing blade of plasma, is it stronger than hitting someone with a gun? Yes!

Depends on the map. If there's a lot of close quarters fighting then the energy sword is perfect, otherwise out in the open it's crap.

My friends and I are going to try out a Plasma Sword only game fairly shortly after we start just for the fun of our old Bash tournaments.

Five Tenets of Bungie.net Forum Life:
1. Trolls will always be well fed.
2. Blame-ability thy name is stosh.
3. Bungie has no control over retail prices.
4. Watch out for low-flying defense drones.
5. Seven is not optional, but rather, an inevitability.

I think the weapon will play a big role in the MP's stealth element. For example, a player can pick up an active camo and switch to his gun. He infiltrates the enemy base. He comes up to the area where the flag is being defended, and he sees five guys in there. He switches to his sword and slices down one guy, then he switches over to his gun. After hiding for a few seconds, he goes back to slashing, hiding, and repeating.

personally, i would rather send hundreds of bullets flying someones way at a few hundred thousand miles per hour, from a very safe distance mind you... than go up to someone with a very unstable looking lightsaber only for them to turn around and shoot you in the head once. personally

The plasma sword will by no means play the role of the primary weapon... I imagine myself using a gun while pocketing the PS for the perfect moment.

Hey, i dont know about you guys, been in my terf, when someone meelees you in the back and you don't even know about it until your sorpse is lieing on the floor, its considered ownage. And now, with the plasma sword, its gonna be even more fun. THe lunge attack will allow easier ownage, as you can attack from a greater distance. Plus, I think, in single player, it is going to be a very popluar weapon to my brother(hes a close-combat kind of guy, shotgun, AR, rocket launcher, etc. ) So he'll have a field day with a more effective meelee weapon.
