Map guids, Training and a great community!

Oh the Noes,
There is still problems in ranked BTB but my group is also trying to promote ranked BTB by organising a Hog Off which is aimed at encouraging people to play BTB.
However we have witnessed an improvement especially in the time it takes to find a match but some lag still remains.
Hopefully this problem can be irradiated.

Dude, I played a truckload of Ranked BTB back in the Halo2 days, even though it was twice the lag and there was host-foolery everywhere. I can't explain to you why Halo3 has never held that same appeal to me, but Ranked BTB is something I've barely touched.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you can cross the field to the enemy base, and after an entire minute and thirty seconds, find that your well-thought plans fall weakly in the path of an Assault Rifle, and a cheaply instantaneous melee death.

Also, I would assume the introduction of VIP into the Halo series has something to do with lack of Big Team interest. Other than that, even I don't know why- your guess is as good as ours.

i don't think big team will survive till the month of august. Big team is a failing playlist. I think it takes no skill. All you need to do is let your teammates do all the work.

i hope it survives because its fun to have a big team help you get the xp and still be playing the mini games instead of just killing people by yourself such as lonewolves

Facing near-certain death, the restrictions were lifted on Ranked Big Team Battle and the playlist rewards Double EXP for the month of June. Will it survive?

I don't think ranked Big Team Battle will survive for too much longer because the population will continue to decrease when new games release and when new playlists are implemented into Halo 3 matchmaking.

NEVER,I'm sure that some people still like to play Big Team Battle and the people that have they're highest rank in Ranked Big Team Battle will have to start all over if bungie removes it.

THANK THE LORD!

we arent out of the fire yet people, keep playing!
ive been playing, gotten a few ranks up, and will continue to play all month!
if i dont put in at least 100 games between now and the 31st, shame on me.

sweet!

  • 06.10.2008 6:27 PM PDT

well... its a good gameplay and all... but i think it would be fine just having social btb. no offense, but its just not too popular and there wont be a huge loss losing it

  • 06.10.2008 6:38 PM PDT

OH NO! This can't be happening. We have to help this playlist.

  • 06.10.2008 6:39 PM PDT

I want it to LIVE.
Does it cost money to keep RBTB up on the playlists?

IF YOU GUYS DID SOMETHING ABOUT THE LAG MORE PEOPLE WOULD PLAY.
E.G.
On Vahalla i picked up the spartan laser and dropped dead. No joke, no sign that a sniper got me, seriously i have witnesses.
Look at COD4 they got 18 NATs to work together with MINIMAL lag, maybe you guys at Bungie should use the same technic Infinity Ward does.

BTW, I will probably get in trouble for saying this, but Luke, how can you be a Scarab Lord if there is no way to pilot one?!

Obviously you're not aware of how the leveling system works.

In this Theater clip you posted, it is a good example of the worst things that can happen, basically Randomtrackguy either quit the game while hosting, or experienced another network failure. Then, Blue Team recieved host and had more players than you on top of it all.

It seems likely that Randomtrackguy just quit, a new host was chosen from Blue Team, and that new host was not compatible with many players of Red Team. I'm going to assume the reason that there were more players on Blue capable of connecting to the new host is because they were all in one party. Regardless of what happened, this game highlights the problems with having the host and backup host on the same team, worst-case-scenario.

...always come in and just yell at the top of their lungs JUST to annoy ppl, i hate that...

so mute them.

Hope this one survives; an old favorite and for me it's still the best hopper for groups of friends to wreck havoc in while ranking at the same time.

Did he just say "grunt rebellion?!" What? Fish? a barrel you say? Well that's not very sporting... oooooooohhh...

NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! My 360's still out for repair! They can't cancel it before I get a chance to play! Well... I suppose they can.... but I'd prefer if they didn't... ::shed's a single tear for opportunities lost::

Let it stay!

I love RBTB even though I haven't played much of it.

Playing with a bunch of friends in it is great.

If you guys did something about the lag, more people would play.

The only thing that can be done to decrease lag is finding better, more compatible hosts in your region- and barring all hosts overseas, or with bad connectivity.
Finding a better host with higher bandwith just means you're going to have one guy with godlike BR skills and smacktalk, and you'll say it was laggy anyway because he went 42 and 5.

Xbox Live won't allow any game company to restrict players to their own country, because that limits the number of players in the pool, slows down matchmaking, and forces them to do some damn work when it comes to filtering play for people, but keeping connectivity quick.

Although Bungie enforces an "anti-host" mechanism that fights against low-bandwith users even outside of BTB, that mechanism does little against the plethora of brand new gamertags that storm the beach of Bungie's servers every week and make it past without being tagged. Worst of all, the same "anti-host" is a sort of filter in itself, working negatively to place low connectivity players alongside each other, even overseas. The whole system is ineffective, thanks to Xbox Live.

I'm a serious dude, so what?

Been enjoying RBTB lately... the population has increased tenfold. Also, Heavy gametypes have dramatically increased replay value.

Without me, it's just "Aweso".

RBTB allows my friends and I to play not only together to rank up, but on our favorite maps as well.I also think the addition of the "Heavy" map variants was a great idea to make the playlist more appealing. I just hope it stays, and if it doesn't, well, I will be mildly yet terribly albeit calmly enraged.
