yeah First Strike is the best considering the 2nd book goes the same as the Halo game, but it does give some insight as to all of the other important characters in Halo

#1. The Fall of Reach- Tells the back story of the UNSc a bit before the war wit the Covenant and gives a greater understanding of Halo's background.
#2. First Strike- Fills in the gap between Halo and Halo 2. A few things make more sense with this novel, or at least will for Halo 2.
#3. The Flood- It was okay, but it really didn't seem like we were all that desperate on Halo...which we were. Honestly making a book based directly after a game is not smart. Especially when it is bad enough for me to count all the little errors in storyline/ gameplay that are in the book. There are 367 of them...I've just yet to type them all.

I'd have to say First Strike for me. While The Flood was good it would have to be ranked number 3 for me. After a while I got tired of "The Master Chief put a few rounds into the jackle the slamed another clip into his rifle before heading on." Yawn. I liked it for how indepth it go with non-MC parts, however.
