i heard another rumor, a very disturbing rumor. Microsoft were paying bungie a heap of cash not to put link up in. think about it, imagine how much money they would make off Xbox live. this is far fetched. but a warning to microsoft, if this is true there will be cars tipped over and buildings burned. what do u guys think?

------YOU CAN'T TAKE A GIRL TO THE LIBRARY!------

it would make no sense to do that.

I thought that Microsoft bought Bungie out so it could make Halo.

What are you saying? So they should be able to do whatever they like with it?
I dont think they would do that anyway. Its gonna be so awesome on Live anyway that Live sales would go through the roof.

That doesn't make much sense for Microsoft. That'd be like Comcast or another major internet provider trying to stop Linksys from making hubs for private networks, but pushing them to make routers that work with their broadband modems.

LAN networking doesn't take money from internet play. If this were true, consoles wouldn't have any form of internet access such as XBL or PlayOnline, because it'd be cheaper and wiser to make LAN adapters and leave it at that. However, there's a lot of money to be made by making an online service for a console, regardless of LAN playability. So... =)

Escape will make me God.

I sincerely hope that Bungie does not take the system link capabilities out of Halo 2, nor the split-screen multiplayer. I see xbox live as being a great way to find competition online. No one can deny that Halo would have lost its appeal much earlier if not for the ability to system link. Its what made the game truly fun. There's nothing like getting together with a bunch of friends with the common purpose of playing lag-free Halo. The system link multiplayer really contributed to Halo's success and I hope this will not be overlooked in Halo 2.
