I've said it before, I'll say it officially, I think that the News, the Gallery, the Voting Booth, and maybe even the Classifieds need to be listed in chronological order. For News and Gallery, this is quite obvious. I feel VB needs it too because newpolls would stay up top so we know they're new, and the Classifieds could maybe use it to keep it fair. People couldn't "bump their ad," so to speak.

I agree. Post bumping becomes completely useless, so that might make people think twice before doing something like that. it also gives non regular posters a better chance in the Classifieds for instance. In the gallery it isn't really required, but it would look a bit cleaner. ANd news, that speaks for itself.

bah

The other option in the Gallery would be to lock the old ones, or better yet, why not sticky the current one?

Hey Shishka, go sticky the current gallery contest thingy!

Never thought about that, but good point. Stickying it would be a good idea, but then the "winner's circle" would no longer be on top. not that that is really important.
And i wouldn't lock the old ones. It's still funny to respond to those old captions.

Spamming Bungie since 2004!

I always wonder why people do that, post in old captions... I don't really like the classifieds for advertising anymore. Popping a link in my sig has dne the job well. *Congratulates link for so many members*

Maybe the old caption competitions should be locked?

I like it. I've been wondering why Bungie didn't have options for any type of sorting a person wanted, whether it be chronological, numerical (number of posts), most recent, most active, etc.
I could see the problem with it, but none the less your simplified version would be awesome.

I voted "Yes".

For ease-of-read purposes, I am going to recount both of the main ideas in this thread and give my opinion on each.

* Let the users decide in their profiles how the threads are sorted:

With a small website, this would be relatively easy, but I'm still not clear on what the structure of the forum tables (on this site) is. No matter how the database is structured, it'd most assuredly be possible, although not necessarily economical.

This is the option I personally would want implemented first.

* Have the forum order the threads by date created, as opposed to the date of the last post:

This would be possible to implement. A bit of work, and some testing, but certainly possible.

I only wish to see "The Gallery", "The News" & "The Classifieds" ordered in this way. In the other forums, I would still much prefer the program "Bumping" the thread each time it is replied to.

Of course, neither of these are necessary, and would, in fact, be suiting each of our own lazy personallities - We don't wish to sort through 7 caption threads to find the one we want? Right. :)

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I don't think its unfair to bump posts in the Classifieds..... If one person does it, another can as well...

But yes to everything else
