I don't play on bungie servers, and have only had 1 maybe two experiences with deliberate
tkilling. I think bungie needs to under stand the fact that tkillers ruin the experience that
THEY created for us! We all payed 50 dollars or what not and don't deserve some retard
tkilling us. If youv'e ever been shot in the back and killed by a t-killer while fighting someone on the other team you know how frustrating it is. It is time Bungie does something for god's sake!!!

P.S.---Note to bungie when I bought Halo I came to these forums and read some posts about team-killers and almost wanted to give up on playing it online. MAKE A PATCH THAT DISABLES FRIENDLY FIRE COMPLETELY!!!

I feel your pain. I have been tk abit myself. I doubt bungie will do anything though. I mean what would no friendly fire take away from the game anyways? Not -blam!-!!!! All I know is if I hear anything about halo 2 being rushed(assuming if they even release it on PC this century!) or people tking I will refuse to buy Halo2!! If tking is even an issue I won't even take it for free! You may wonder why, Tking ruined the experience for me in HaloPC I rarley even play it online, forget offline this game lives and dies on the online multiplayer mode.

Well it seems you have the same feeling as others. Try reading thier plight (as it is also yours) HERE , and try to realize that disabling FF (friendly fire) is not the answer to this serious problem. Other more stringent measures should be taken.

So do you care to share why FF would not be the approiate measure?
I mean oh wow I can't shoot someone on my own team, wait for a second and think
about it helping to stop accidental tkings, which is something that spawns bad blood between players at times. Not to mention the intententional tkers obviously!

P.S.--to Mortality, I realise the plight of others that is why I posted a reply to the original
message by Geno tiger, as well I have read many messages about peoples experiences
with tkers.

I gotta agree with you. I was playin last night and was killed repeatedly by my own team. Especially by someone named badgurl in a CTF game in Blood Gulch. I thought Bungie said that they were going to kick tkillers off?

FF (friendly fire) is a part of a more mature gaming experience. Those of us in the Halo PC community that have no touble avoiding FF occasionally do have accidents where we kill team mates. Usually an immediate apology is given to the person we "accidentaly" killed. Removing FF from the game would make it less realistic, and even less fun. Just think about all the times you have caused some one on the other team to kill thier teammate while they try to kill you. It is funny when you see the opposite team kill each other at the expense of your own life. This topic is not about FF, but it is about TKers. Repeat intentional TKers do need to be stopped, taking FF off all Halo PC servers would just annoy those not involved in the TKing idiocy that other less mature players wont stop. FF is good, to mature players that do thier best not to TK. Instead of removing features from the game maybe Gearbox and Bungie can add features that make repeat TKing less attractive, like my suggestion in this identical Topic . FF should be a part of Halo PC. Not beacuse it is fun to kill team mates, but because it is fun to cause the other team to kill each other as they try and kill you.

Yes friendly fire is part of a more mature experience but its' problem is the immature!!!
I know what I said is obvious but intentional tker's ruin the experience for us more mature players than removing friendly fire ever would. Sure manuvering your enimies into killing each other is awesome but how often does it really happen?!!!

Well, remember that you'll always have dorks and idiots ruining the game. Maybe you should create a server and have a password issue to only your friends since thats pretty much how some of the people in the gearbox forum maintain the control and limits of those wierdos.

Nah, TKers rock!!!!!!!!!!!

You are obviously a child, or an adolescent that usurps your parents money (PC, Xbox, internet connection) for playing Halo. Have fun being a -blam- your whole life by keeping your lame attitude. You are probably one of the repeat problem Tkers this topic is about. Your probably not intelligent enough to find your rear-end with both hands and a flashlight. Its people like you that give the human race a bad name. Have a nice day, and dont forget your Ritalin.

Yes I understand your point, but.. adding a "punish or forgive" option to Halo PC would be just as effective (a better idea of this concept is found here ) . This would put the power of punsihment in the hands of the person the Tker just betrayed. Instead of removing parts from the game that mature players enjoy. Personally I have recently found that if a Tker has marked you for repeat tking; all you have to do is change teams and hunt them down. Tell the TKer that you are coming for him, and be sure to tell his team mates that you have no intention of taking the flag, and are only going to thier base (ussually where the Tker stays, as they dont have enough skill to fight the opposite team) to kill the Tker. Sometimes the TKer-infected team will help you by not shooting at you once they see your name. This causes the Tker some distress; making it no longer "fun" to be on that server, and they leave.

Agreed, people like that is why Halo is being remembered as a notorious game for Tk.

Yeah, the option to forgive or punish the TKer might be a good solution. I've never played a game that uses it, but it seems like it would be hard to abuse, since you have to actually be a TK victim to use it (unlike a vote system).

On the Gearbox server (at least on the gametypes I've made), we play with FF off. Is it a tad less realistic? Sure. Do I prefer the realism of FF? Yeah. But is it worth turning off to get rid of the stupid TKers? Hell yes. IMO, it's a small price to pay to not have to deal with these idiots. Plus it's really annoying to have noob teammates run over you by accident or blow you up with grenades. When you're trying to keep your kill/death ratio high, it sucks to get killed by teammates who can't drive.

Oh yeah... just tonight I was playing a CTF game with FF turned off. I had the flag and was almost back to our base to cap it. Some teammate was running behind me meleeing me in the back as I ran, and spraying me with the Assault Rifle. I was tempted to ban him because I really hate people like that. It's kind of funny though, to have people join with names like "Betrayer". They try to TK and when they find they can't, they just give up and leave. LOL Plus we run enough free-for-all games that TKers wouldn't want to hang around for very long anyway.

So, it's a tradeoff. It's less realistic, but I just hate the stupid TKers so much that I think it's worth it.

ok this was a very long topic and i havent read it all, i have just scim read most of it.

turn friendky fire off? NO never do that, it makes it so easy to take advantage of map bugs if you do.

how do you stop team killers? set a low "tk_ban" on, its as simple as that.

is there a fogive team kill system in halo? yes, you can set the "tk_ban" forgive level, so after the set amount of time the player is fogivern for a team kill, unless they have comitted another team kill in this time

why dont bungie servers use this? no idea, imo they should and they should clamp down on there few admins who do tk you and ban you if you try and defend youself, i have seen but not experienced this many times, but i have spoken to some of those that have experienced it

do servers which have a "tk_ban" and moderated correctly have less team killers? Yes ofcause they do, there is still team killing going on, but alot less of it

The forgive option the other people are talking about is different from what you're thinking. It's not a period of time where the TK goes off your record. It's a menu that pops up when you've been betrayed, and it asks if you want to forgive the person. If you know it was obviously an accident, you can forgive the person. If it was obviously intentional, you can not forgive them. This would allow the TK threshold to be set lower since it would have a way to distinguish between accidents and -blam!-holes.

The " Punish or Forgive " system is explained better by clicking here.

In this Halo PC players eyes this system would allow less admin moderation, and more player participation. This would be a quick and easy cure to stop the TK infection that is growing within the Halo PC community. Halo PC is quickly becoming known as a "TKers Game" by many within the PC gaming community. Lets Stop this trend and ask Bungie an Gearbox to implement " Punish and Forgive " to help the betrayed deal with thiers betrayers 1 on 1.

personally i think this would just make it worse, as yes it would constant team killers, but if there is a accidental team kill, youd most likely get some stupid noob punish you for it, even if youve said sorry several times and it was clearly a accident, only way the system could work is if the punishment is very much eg a 30sec respawn time add on per team kill punished

Accidental team killing does happen, and yes there are those out there that dont see an accident and get sore at you for killing them. Though the 1 "punish" ruling against you would proabably only get you a 30-60 second spawn penalty. Then again if the same person decides to intentionally tk you when you respawn as revenge, you can give him/her the same "punish" ruling. This system will only be negative if you are an intentional TKer. All others will just have to do thier best to be kind, and try not to kill thier own team (lest the wrath of thier team be unleashed upon them). Being given a "punish" would work as the Devs' see fit, but in an example the first "punish" would get you a 30 second penalty, the second a 1minute penalty, third a 2 minute penalty, fourth a 3 minute penalty, and the fifth would get you kicked and banned for a periiod of time set by the server admin (1-24 hours maybe). This holds the line between intentional and accidental tking. Mind you I have accidentally Tked 3 team mates before with a warthog while trying to get the enemy flag into my base while being attacked by an enemy ghost; they spawned in front of my bumper as I was at full speed. I apologized to all of them and tried to make them understand that it was an accident. One of them was none-to-happy, but after a bit of chatting on the team chat, we made up and everything was ok. Communication between your team and yourself is critical. Why Halo PC does not have an integrated voice chat I do not know (it needs one). Still being kind through words is easy to do. Though if you find someone has just got a chip on thier shoulder, just avoid them, then TKing them would not be a problem.
