NOTICE: This might have been in another thread, but Im just too lazy to go through the almost 200 other threads.

Has anyone heard of any other armed forces that might appear in the game? All Ive ever seen/heard of the is the Marines. Now that the game is on earth, there might be a possibilty that well see some ground forces like infantry and Navy troops.

Has anybody else thought of this possibilty?

but id just bet to see them carrying different weapons... like maybe one will carry the SSM every now and then? who knows.

oh yeah! pilots too! i bet they of course fly the pelican, but what about banshees? or the unseen unmentioned unknown human counter to the banshee? hell yeah, gimme a squad of them, and well take the whole goddamn planet back.

Yes I know. Johns rank is Master Chief, therefore he is part of the Navy. It even says so in one of the books (forgot which one, possibly First Strike but maybe Fall of Reach)

But the rank doesnt mean hes in the navy maybe it could mean something else like hes the head or the leader in the spartan project.

Why would the earth need a navy if the humans can travel in space in which case the navy would be a space navy of some sort that the MC has control of.

I have read through half of halo first strike already. Plus i just dont really see any need for a navy that can only opperate on the water when space travel has become apparent.

The Navy still exsists whether you think it should or not. Humans live on other planets where the Navy could be used. Also, they dont just operate on water, they just specialize in it (and I know because my dad is in the Navy). Also the Navy (in Halo) is used in space as well. And they dont call him Master Chief because he forgot his name, they call him that because you usually address your ranking officers by their title (such as Captain, General, Master Chief). BTW, it does say in the books that he is part of the Navy so arguement closed.

Me: "OMFG, Dude... wtf!"
AbolitionofMan: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to betray you."
Me: "That's the 4th time in this game alone!"
Chris: "Third, besides he had the flag I was trying to stop him, how was I supposed to know you were there."
Me: "I said, 'I got the Flag, don't shoot.'"
Chris: "Well those Wraith shots take a while to reach you."
Me: "You were right next to me, I had killed him and a minute passed before you decided to shoot."
Chris: "Hahahahaha, yeah... that was great."

Navy is the same...regardless of whether it is on water or space. It is still a body that must be travelled. The UNSC has ships, Cruisers, Destroyers, Frigates, and Carrier's no? These are all NAVY vessels. Just because they aren't on water does not mean they are not Navy. Also, the Marines are part of the Navy, the ODST's might be the Army, or at least part of the Army. And yes, John is part of the NAVY. Hence his rank and his training. You have to think about this, this is 2552, Space is the most prevailent thing, perhaps there is no need for an Air Force, and it is integrated into the Navy, the Army, downsized and switched in favor of Marines, (ODST's being an execption), and you would need a HUGE Navy, they could have just eliminated the other branchs because they had no use for them. Remember, the Air Force was once part of the Army, now it's sepearate cause they NEEDED it to be. Perhaps they really no longer need an Army, because, why do you need an Army when you need to control the space around the planets, thus the Navy, and any ground forces can jsut be the Marines, afterall. Your troops aren't just gonna sit on one planet and do nothing right? (What an Army would), so you make the Army combine to form a larger Marine force, and now you have mobile, ship duty military force.

Yes it is. The Navy would be the ones in control of the space cruisers (and stuff like that)

Presicely, you would NEVER address someone by thier first name, (unless you were friends but you should only do so off duty), proper editcate dictates you address an officer by thier rank, and if you choose, thier last name as well. If I had called my old DI's by thier first name, (if I knew it), well... let's just say I might not be here today. *shakes head* They would have smoked me to death.
