Being an east coaster. This news was a pleasant end to my workday.

And why all the hate for Contact Harvest? It wasn't the best book ever, but it wasn't that bad either. It was a nice look into Johnson's past. What more could you ask for content wise?..... oh, I get it, there were no Spartans in it. gotcha.

Moving on.

I can't wait for this next look into the Haloverse.

Contact Harvest had horrible pacing I never finished it but I did like the book. This new guy's books look very interesting. I'm to have to pick his other books up.

Owners of the Katana: A place for those who have a Katana or over 1000GS in Halo 3.

Somewhere out there... in an alternate reality... Marty decided to stay in the ad jingle business, bringing about an age of amazingly orchestrated Pampers commercials.

But reading's for nerds! Haha, just kidding, I wish it came out sooning so I have something to do while riding on a plane...*sigh*, but I just gotta wait, oh, and, anything about the summary of the novel?

Sounds awesome. Loved the last book. Mr. Staten's writing seemed to ground it a little closer to the actual events in the games. I hope this book is close to as interesting. Good to see Frank's there to keep it real. Here's hoping for an audiobook version as well. It's much easier to "read" it on the way to and from work, and it makes the drive SO much nicer.

Gray team... Where have I heard of them before? It sounds familiar but I just can't place it.

Play hard, have fun.

Very cool, can't wait for it.

"On and on shall old war go,
Without respite my blood will flow
O’er your eyes‘til they cannot see
The impossibility of victory."

I've been waiting for another halo book to read for ages,
I hope this one is just as good as the others.

How much does bungie actually input into these books? Do any of your staff help in the story line?

Nowadays we don't have much input to be honest. Microsoft owns Halo and will ultimately decide what to do with it whether it be books or something else. As long as we're working together though, we are both going to ensure that everything is consistent and correct. This is the type of thing Frank will be doing now that he has joined the MSFT team.

This particular book was started a while ago though and at the time, Bungie writing lead Frank and our resident Halo story expert Robt McLees were very much involved in helping to shape the outline and make sure everything fit properly within the Halo Universe and canon. We should still see periodic updates and copy as it's being produced but mostly just from a loose advisory/review role.

And that's why you sent Frankie in as a spy... right?

Aww, no Eric Nylund... :(

Look on the bright side- It can't be worse than Contact Harvest.

Contact Harvest wasnt that bad. In fact I thought it was pretty good, ending aside.

I wonder at what time this book will take place within the Universe.
I read Halo: The Fall of Reach, the first of the series. Very good book. Provided alot of infomation on the Halo universe in the beginning. Its a must read for any Halo fan.

"There is no Dark Side" - Vergere

I'm really excited about the book, but I would still like a continuation of Ghosts of Onyx.

I agree, having Staten write it was like it was a solid chunk of the Halo Bible in my hand. I have to say I enjoyed it more than any of the others.
This new author looks promising as well :)

MSFT, what's this acronym?

Ragamuffin eh? Hmmm intriguing.

Cool! The last one was superb and by far the best of the halo novels, especially its epilogue which i thought was very cool. I hope this next one lives up to Mr. Staten's amazingness.

AWESOME! I can't wait for The Cole Protocol, Contact Harvest was epic. Hell, every Halo book was epic.

  • 06.16.2008 3:30 PM PDT

Quit talking. Start playing.

Can't wait for more Halo reading! Just can't get enough of that good stuff. The completion of every book always leaves me drooling for more.

Oh yeah, and I really liked Contact Harvest too. Semper Fi Bungie!

Finnaly! Maybe this one will expound more on what happens to blue team thats stuck inside onyx instead of giving us a useless history on how the covies took over harvest. Don't get me wrong though, contact harvest was a good book. It just didn't expound on the Ghost of Onyx cliffhanger which was what everyone wanted.

I heard someone say once (paraphrasing here) "Multiflag on Blood Gulch with your friends is what makes Halo, Halo." I GUARANTEE that more people agree with that sentiment than "Getting a 50 in MLG is what makes Halo, Halo." - Oboewan42

YES!!!!!!! The Gray Team story has been on my mind for a while. I'm wondering though, will they have Mark V armor? I can't remember all of FOR but I don't recall them being mentioned for the armor upgrade. (From the Black filmy stuff they made to the actual spartan armor

Oh and a question to those who have read Contact Harvest. Is it actually worth the read? My friends say it sucked and reviews don't exactly support it so I'd rather have solid confirmation on whether or not it would be a waste of my time.
