There are currently 259 users that are Mythic, 3848 Legendary Members, and 11351 Heroic members. That leaves a number of "member" accounts in the range of X, where X is a multiple of 1 million.

The system is designed to reward you quickly enough if participate positively. I don't continually adjust the formula, it has been constant for a long time now. Just because you think it is based mostly on time as a member doesn't mean it actually is. It is WAAAY more complicated than that.

Specifically - the system is a relative ranking. That means your ranking changes based on the maximum possible score, as defined by the person with the highest rating that day. So, if the max value changes, your title can change, especially if you're on the borderline between one or more levels.

Move along, nothing to see here.
Highest rating that day?

*Looks at CAVX*

Loose talk is noose talk.

I've jumped to Heroic today. Not that I care that much, though.

@Achronos:
I knew all that already, so how does it explain the Heroic members who have been on B.net for only a few days? Surely there must be something wrong...

Show me some examples of those people.

Read through the thread. There's a couple mentioned. Either that or people are lying for an unknown reason...

Liars, the bunch of 'em are.

So that means the system isn't becoming self aware? I just came back in from preparing the fallout bunker. You disappoint me.

But people aren't quitting right? That would theoretically lower the "standard".

Wouldn't a major thread or two possibly be the cause of the rapid change in member titles? We saw how CAVX's thread grew in about a week. That means the maximum value Achronos is talking about could be greatly changed by such a massive amount of activity.

Yeah I think you may be onto something there.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Not too many legendary members then. Cool :)

So Cav is setting the bar?

*Slaps ass*

EDIT

I know his rank flew up since the Coup D'Bungie thread was created.

I just may be. I first posted that thread as a Member. Now I am a Legendary Member (at least I was the last time I checked). The sheer volume of that thread is clearly impacting something.

But anyway, Tom said move along, and we clearly aren't moving along.

I like how Achronos made the system so that your rank is based on how you compare to others members rather then just a number.

Ya, I recently jumped to Heroic member I believe 5 days ago..

Going from Member to Heroic is not a jump.

lol

  • 06.17.2008 4:19 PM PDT

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

I've been changing from Legendary to Heroic to Legendary to Heroic, lol. Good times.

I got promoted a few months back(5 or 6 maybe longer?) Then demoted for no apparent reason then promoted again. It was a strange experience.

  • 06.17.2008 4:33 PM PDT

In the last week I've been demoted, promoted, and today demoted again. Not a happy feeling, but I suppose it doesn't matter.

Uh, because they're positive contributors?

Did you not read the part where length of time isn't always the determining factor?

Hello.

Well, this is interesting...

Is it possible for someone to reach a title such as Legendary Member or Mythic Member in less than a year?

The reason I ask this is because people can become Heroic Members in a few days just by being positive contributors.

You're not setting the "bar" (you're not the maximum, not close at all).

And although your account is older, your recent climb is likely due to increased activity. Regular positive contribution is rewarded. Sporadic lurking is not.
