What part of "move along, nothing to see here" do you people not understand.
For me it would be the "move along" part.

Had he been 100% serious about that, he'd have locked the thread.

Now im embarrassed.
What Achronos said really did help me understand more about the system.

Lucky you. All I got was that "regular positive contribution" helps. I have no idea what he means by "regular" (i.e., how frequent?) and "positive" (what exactly constitutes a "negative" contribution? swearing? saying "noob"? mentioning MLG? any combination of "Halo", "CE", "1", and "pistol"?) .

Being a future accountant, I like details--I fear I'm going to be unhappy for quite some time.

What I don't understand is what determines that said person is a good poster? I don't think a computer could read every post in a topic and then read a specific users and determine by using logic and understanding that it was a good post or not And I don't think the mods see every single thread and post by every single user to determine if it is good enough or not.

But I guess the way the system works is supposed to be a secret and we will never know :-D

There are currently 259 users that are Mythic, 3848 Legendary Members, and 11351 Heroic members. That leaves a number of "member" accounts in the range of X, where X is a multiple of 1 million.

The system is designed to reward you quickly enough if participate positively. I don't continually adjust the formula, it has been constant for a long time now. Just because you think it is based mostly on time as a member doesn't mean it actually is. It is WAAAY more complicated than that.

Specifically - the system is a relative ranking. That means your ranking changes based on the maximum possible score, as defined by the person with the highest rating that day. So, if the max value changes, your title can change, especially if you're on the borderline between one or more levels.

Move along, nothing to see here.

How do you explain the Heroic Member that had never Posted in the normal forums and had been a member for 3 days?

Dianna Agron is the epitome of perfection.

Quinntology.

Don't try to understand the system. It will make your head explode.

No I don't want to join your group/clan/cult.

I was once a Heroic. Posted in a seemingly harmless thread and got blacklisted for three days. Now I'm a regular Member. Life goes on.

  • 06.21.2008 9:27 AM PDT

I remember when I used this space to put cool looking links to my chapters back in the day. I don't even know why I'm using it now. Why are you even reading this? You must be interested in me. Still reading?

I was banned for three days long ago but eventually made it to Heroic status. After about 4 months of Heroic, I suddenly went down for no apparent reason. Unlike several people who come out and say things like, "WTF? Why did I get deranked? I didn't do nothing!", I simply kept quiet. Two weeks later, I skip Heroic and now I'm Legendary. :P

Since the system is so complicated, if I sent it an email saying how sorry I am, will that affect my chances at getting back to Heroic? :(

  • 06.21.2008 3:06 PM PDT

Avid Halo fan, however will always favour Halo 2 due to its innovative gaming style.

On the topi of swearing. - Depends what manor you say it in lol. can be said in a humurous manor or a nast tone. depends. :)

Your mother would...be friends...with my mother....and they'd go out for tea or something....yeah.

i just wonder how the system works in judging a positive post....what if i'm just joshing around with a friend of mine, and happen to make a few negative posts that he would react to positively?

eh. whatever. i don't really care about the "system" anyways. i could stay member forever and not give a damn. all i see is a fancy colored hat.

Most likely it's more of a "lack of negative points" rather than "abundance of positive points". It very likely keeps track of how many posts per day, and then looks at how many bans/warnings you've had. Lots of posts with no warnings or bans means you're a positive poster.

That would be my guess. It makes sense. :) Although it's probably far more complex.

Would I be right to assume then, that using the R - button in times of need, is beneficial to myself?

Even while I am just, lurking...?

: )

I'd be a kid in a candy shop with all that knowledge... No seriously, I wish I could have developed a site like this. Sometimes it just blows my mind as to how maintained it is, and improvements are always trying to made... Coming from a guy who stopped making sites years ago... Holy crap. Lol.
