Wouldnt it be nice if you could pay a monthly fee to have your own Xbox Live Halo 2 dedicated server? This would definatly be nice for non lag clan matches, and to be able to have those big massive games with no lag.

I've heard a lot of people talk about dedicated servers. If you host a game and you are a dedicated server, what happens? What is a dedicated server?

When you put up a dedicated server when you host, it basicly makes it so people can join your server without you playing, im talking about microsoft or bungie dedicated servers that you can pay for. 100% Lag free microsoft servers.

I am sure Bungie will set some of these up for free if they are needed. They have them for Halo PC why not Halo 2.

Of course there will be free public dedicated servers, but im talking about dedicated servers that you can pa for and control. Even name the server.Im thinking of it working like a pc game kinda dedicated server that you can control, where you enter an rcon pass and you control the server through something like rcon. Or, just a server password and a basic server change would work too.

I'm pretty sure dedicated servers would be free. I am not completely understanding what you are saying, but it sounds alot like the dedicated servers that they have in CS on the box, and those are free.

You dont play many pc games do you guys :( . Ok, so since you know how CS and all those dedicated servers work. Im talking about, you controlling one of those dedicated servers (paying bungie a monthly fee of course for using their bandiwth and servers) and naming the server what you want, and using it as if it were your own host (only with unlimited bandwith and no lag)

They actually have official free dedicated servers. On Unreal Championship and Wolfenstein there was the Microsoft COM 1 server and the Bungie COM 1 server so there is first party support for servers. Which makes sense considering that Bungie is supporting everything else such as clans

He's talking about renting Bungie servers. Which is a great idea!
