During the alpha test by microsoft and the bungie staff, one person wrote in a recent magazine article that players were able to switch teams during a ctf match. I think this is a terrible idea. This option I think ruined Unreal the Awakening. People who had no idea how to play were constantly accidentally switching teams and little kids who like to cause problems for mature gamers would kill players on their team and then switch teams and continue. I was wondering if anyone knows if this will be an option on the final game and also what people think about this idea?

I agree half lemming. I don't know if it's going to happen but it was mentioned in the May 2004 Game Informer (Multiplayer article).

Team switching is a necessity! How can you balance the teams or get with your friends if your teams are locked?

Do it in the lobby, not during gameplay, you can switch the next game. The idea is cheap, switch to the winning team near the end (-blam!-).

you do that before the game starts some games call it the game lobby. I think mech assault has it ( by the way that game sucks)
Sorry forgot to quote shadow warrior look at his post above

Will there even be a lobby though? or just the 30 second scoreboards at the end before it continues. I suppose it'd be good to have the option to "switch to team <<COLOUR>> at end of round."

Halo 2 WILL REVOLUTIONIZE live play, expect the best of live and the best online mp, bungie will perfect it, know that whatever is said here doesn't matter (only fun), bungie will make it better than anyone sugest, and you all will like how they did it.

Just for clarification, I'm talking about during the actual game.... after the host has launched the game... with 4 minutes left on a 10 minute match... etc,etc,etc..

Rainbow Six 3 also lets you switch teams in lobby, as well as Crimson Skies. But on RB63, auto-balance teams is sometimes on, so it's not un-fair.

people obviously dont realize the true nature of cheap players or any players for that matter....

this idea is reaking with cheapness, people will switch to the winning team with a few minutes to go, its just not a smart idea, it would actually be a disaster

it could be in, but in some games, when you switch, itr wipes your stats, so usually you don't want to switch. but, because there are so many bastards in the world (as we can even see in this forum), that option shouldn't exist.

it should be optional if the host wants to allow it.

I thin you should be able to but ONLY when the sides are uneven and your on the team with more people.

I think u should because there is no reason to stay on that team if your being killed by your own teammates

Again I'm talking about once a match is already started. Like in "Unreal the Awakening". Has anyone played that game and understands exactly what I'm talking about.

yes, people are just -blam!-, and its called BOOTING people, if a person is backstabbing, the host this time around might be able to boot the guy when in the game, but seriously i doubt they would implement such a stupid idea just so some people could switch teams on the rare occassion they encounter team killers

may be you must allowed to decide the new member's join... so i'm beliving that: if this idea will be turned on the right way it could be great... in a game 2vs2vs2 it could be fun... or in a 2vs2vs4vs2vs2vs4 it could be really fun.... think about it

I forgot about the whole four team possibility. So your saying if you had four people playing two on two and two more people joined the game. It would work well if they were able to join/create a third or fourth team? Is that what your trying to say?

Locked teams are dumb cause if someone accidentally switches teams before the match it screws up team balance. They should have the ability to switch teams ingame as long as theres a feature that keeps the teams even.

I totally disagree... People use the opportunity when changing in-game to basically be a jerk (I'd say other things but they would probibally get me censored). The only people I think legitimately change teams in-game (without malicious intent) are adults who enjoy gaming. From my experience most people who change teams are little punks trying to piss people off because thier daddy didn't show them enough attention.

Kinda like those little spam freaks.... who post constantly because they think they are really important or want to irritate as many people as possible.
