what should i do now he knows all my info so should i put my old address or my realitives address?

The address isnt really important, you could just use a fake one,
I think mine's along the lines of "5 fakestreet"

Might as well lock this thread when ODST comes out..

=(

wat?

MJOLNIR Armor

It's still against account theft. Why lock it? Or are you referring to the title since we won't be a Spartan anymore my good sir?

If that's the case... nonetheless: Mjolnir> ODST Armor. Mjolnir is still stronger which is therefore fitting the name of a defense for accounts.

i recently got my account hacked......by this kid on my friends list......he ip traced me......found out where i lived......called xbox support as me.......guessed my secret answer by looking at my myspace & facebook......and when i got it back he put his real info so i called him up and threatened to press charges....FTW
what should i do now he knows all my info so should i put my old address or my realitives address?
That would be a good idea. Or, as noted above, put a fake address THAT YOU WILL REMEMBER.

You also need to scrub your MySpace and Facebook to remove any and all traces of personal information. Remove your gamertag from all social networking sites and make sure that if you Google your gamertag, nothing containing any personal information -- even a birthday -- comes up in a search. Remember the "internet detectives" section from the first post. You might be surprised at what comes up when you Google yourself.

I deleted all traces of my personal information long ago just by searching my gamertag on Google, going to any hit that might contain information, and making sure that I either removed it or deleted the profile.

EDIT: The worst password is "Password"

That or monkeys, baseball, football, monkeyman etc.

I find an interesting tactic to be making one of your numbers a word. For instance, if you password were codsmells11 then change it to codsmelleseleven, making the nuber a word.

You don't kick a man when they're down, so don't teabag me when I'm dead!

Oh bugger!

- My GT is on Bebo, Facebook, Twitter and other lesser sites
- My name is in my GT's profile
- My location is in my GT's profile
- I use my password for several other things including my passcode for my router, my laptop and the password itself contains sensitive numbers pertaining to bank details
- I once went on one of those obviously fake Fr33 MS Points! sites and gave away my info. As I don't have a credit/debit card linked with my account, they just used my account as a medium to distribute more advaertising messages to other people on my freinds list (leading to 5 of my friends getting hacked, which I felt really bad about). I'm assuming they ditched my account info because of the lack of usefulness of the profile, but I haven't changed my details since.

It's not looking good. Thanks Foman!

One question. Yesterday on Live I encountered someone claiming to be a hacker. He then read my my IP address. Am I in any danger? His buddy said that he had hacked accounts before, but I'm skeptical. Should I change my Password to something weird? The one I have now is not very secure. Thanks.

a good password is one like 5y73426y78357893798257t38ghefbwhu fnheiutn73843867. no one will ever access your hot mail!

Ha. I went to reply to this, saw I didn't have the reply button option and assumed it was locked and went, "Noes, damn you BrySi for suggesting it." Then I realized I didn't have the report button option either and scrolled up to the top of the page to see that I was no longer signed in. Why? Because I just went to login.live.com and changed my password, verified my WLID email registry, and performed a whole bunch of other ub3r 1337 ant1-h4ck3r measures.

Go FoMan go.

Very good guide. It's also important to watch what you do on the internet, for example ckixking on those spam/ad things isn't the best idea.

Simplest thing to do is to put an Xbox passcode on your account, even if your account gets hacked it will take the hacker a long time to figure it out, or he might not get it at all. Not everyone has the patience to go through every combination....

I'm not sure if that passcode applies to the console or to the gamertag across every box on which it's recovered . . .

Yeah, it would be nice if it applied across the board to every box on which the gamertag was recovered, but I think you're right, Benergizer... it's just the former :-/
