Hi there! This is me15ter! Some of you know that ive been giving out advice about connecting to multiplayer. But now ive got a problem of my own...

On the main menu screen, if i click on the "Multiplayer" icon, the game loops itself over and over again, then shows a blank screen with a popup saying "Halo can't connect to the network." Ive tried everything i can think of, including creating a new profile, tinkering with connection settings, deactivating firewalls, antiviruses, and running in safemode. Nothing works. I even manually ran Halo Update by going into the Microsoft Games folder. My game is updated...

I just ran windows update yesterday, and i had some security things installed in windows. Could it be that? Im open to any suggestions here...

System specs:
hp pavilion (laptop)
amd athlon xp-m @ 518 MHz
192 MB ram
50 GB HD with 23 GB avalible
ATI RADEON IGP 320M
Cable Connection (High)
Updated Halo PC v.1.6

Well some of your specs are a bit low, but if you've run it before I believe I know. Right click on 'my computer' and hit properties. On the first screen, if it says SP2, that might be the problem. Windows has a firewall built in, along with many other odd features that prevent just about anything from getting onto the net.

If you have zone alarm firewall, then thats probably what is stopping ur computer from connecting to the network. i had it once and even though i deactivated all the features it still stopped the game from connecting to the network.
When i uninstalled it, the game worked fine.

or you just might not be connected to the internet (but thats the stupid persons explanation so use my 1st suggestion then this one).

Thanks, but ive done that before. Anything else? By the by, ive run it before with SP2 and that annoying new windows firewall...the one that blocks everything but hackers...its not SP2...

Thanks for the tips.

Of course im connected to the internet. But ZONE ALARM!!!! HUH!!! Maybe. But Zone Alarm is so [blam] effective at protecting my computer...do i really want to give it up...And besides, if you close Zone Alarm, shouldnt that stop it from interfering?
