Alright, I have been playing alot of Halo PC recently, and I have sound several reoccuring, probably lag related glitches, and would like to know what is happening from a tech standpoint, if that is possible.

1: When I fire a rocket (and hit) a vehicle it will seemingly get thrown ad if it were actually hit, but midway through its tumble, it will suddenly reset, and travel along the course it was originally on. The same ting happenes to banchees on occasion, except the direct rocket to the front dosen't seem to phase the pilot, and it will then continue to happily ail along, trailing black smoke.

example: Map: Blood Gultch
fully loaded standard warthog travveling in a straight line gets hit in the front left tire, and begins to flip end over end. Midway through the first flip, it resets and continues going in a straight line.

Question: What the hell just happened? Why did the game just reset the warthog?

2: Damage to players, and glancing hits,

I have seen this especially on HPC trial servers: When I shoot a player, it hits (I can see the little white flash on them) and bothing happens, or I hit and I see the 'shield impact' mark and the still nothing happens, no damage is done to them, but they are aware they have just been shot. This happens even when a game isn't lagging. Hell, this happened a few times when I was playing split screen Slayer with my friend on his Xbox. This happened with every weapon, even the sniper rifle.

3: Rockets smacking into players, throwing blood all over, but no harm is done.

I guess this one is similar to that of the above, but here is my question: lets saw I fire a rocket from mid field on blood gultch, and it nails a sntationary player on blue base. It hits him, he is 'hopped' into the air and blood goes all over. He then proceded to run off the top of the base and to the nearest vehicle.

Question: even if this was lag related wouldn't the damage from getting nailed with a rocket eventually kill him? Like when he jumped off the top of the base? The still happens even at close range, so even if I miss a player due to lag, he is still well within the leathal splash damage range, and is free from damage, and depending on their intelligence and skill, will then turn around to face me with whatever weapon they have.

So again: What the heck is happening? From a tech standpoint.

#1: Lag - not much you can do but shoot em again.
#2: Lag - the game only records damage if you hear a little ding when you hit them.
#3: Lag - again not much you can do. The player being hit might take some damage or he might not.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Halo, if real life were like it, no one would die from bullets.

It's all an issue of lag. What you see on your comp is different than what the host sees, and what the host sees is correct.

Example, you see your rocket hit the warthog, catapulting it into the air. However, because of halo PC's netcode, the host sees you launch the rocket half a second later, and completely miss the warthog. The host periodically sends data to each player, so half a second later, your computer receives information that in fact the hog is still driving, and your comp corrects itself.

OK thanks for clearing that up!

What if two clients were involved with the rocket scenario/.

I'm sure you've noticed too, when a sniper bullet/tank shell/explosive hits your head, and blood flies out, and you might unscope, as your comp thinks your hit, but according to the host you are still alive, so nothing actually happens.
