I was over in the Halo 2 fourms and they are all hyped up on rumors of Hang em High and Damnation returning, but no one seems to be mentioning my favorate level, the Chill Out. I just want to see if I am the only person that really liked that level.

I never really played damnation or chill out. I played boarding action, hang 'em high, prisoner, and longest for the most part. With a little blood gulch thrown in the mix

In the two Halo circles I play in, we play all of the levels (except Chiron). I would say that my four favorite classic levels are Chill Out, Damnation, Rat Race, and Hang 'Em High. I really don't enjoy Sidewinder or Blood Gultch (and I don't know why they have such a fanatical following). The reason I like the medium sized levels best is because they are suited for all kinds of gameplay, different game types, and different numbers (many and few) of players.

I think I have this figured out on this board. Most of the people that think they are good at this game believe that the only way to win is by sniping. Sidewinder is so big you can go five minutes without seeing anything. Probably the same reason the pistol was so popular.

I feel the same way, Goldenwarrior. I absolutely love Chill Out; it's my all-time favorite map. Just based off my own experiences and talking with friends, I have this theory about Halo 1: when people start, they play the big levels Blood Gulch and Sidewinder, and just try out the smaller levels. But as they play more, they discover how much fun the smaller levels are, like Battle Creek and Hang 'Em High. But eventually they get to the point where only a few levels can consistently be interesting to play, and that usually turns out to be Chill Out, Damnation, and Hang 'Em High. That's why I was disappointed when I came to the Bungie.net forums and found a bunch of people posting things like "Blood Gulch roxxorzz! lol"

A friend who's really, really into music of all kinds told me something once: "You can shop around all you want to, but I think that once you listen to music long enough people just start listening to Radiohead all the time because nothing else is very interesting." I feel the same way about Chill Out.

One of my favorites of Halo 1. (Next to Damnation and Sidewinder)
