Subject: Is there a way to run Halo at 1920x1200?

I have a 23" widescreen hp l2335 flatpanel LCD and would like to run Halo in widescreen. Is there a config file somewhere I can edit to run at my screen's native resolution? 1600 x 1200 is okay and all, but I want to go widescreen.

Thanks!

Nope. Halo PC doesn't support widescreen.

Nope, 1600x1024 is the right resolution for widescreen since thats what I'm using for my Sony Widescreen monitor.

Halo supports widescreen? Or does the monitor just automatically adjust it...?

The game will adjust itself to any screen size.

Looks like Halo PC does support widescreen since I'm playing it 1600x1024 which is widescreen resolution on a PC, not to mention Half Life 2 and Doom 3. But it also depends on the video card as well.

So... it can do 1600 x 1000, but not 1920 x1200? That's a bummer...

It can go over 1280x1024? That's a relief. On my computer it doesn't let it go higher than that. Maybe it's just my crappy GeForce 2 MX/MX400 64MB. Or maybe it's my 8-year-old monitor. I dunno

Halo doesnt support that high a resolution does it? And even if it did, you'd need some powerfull hardware to run it smootly.

How do you adjust AF...
And also, are you playing that on a projector, TV or a huge monitor? coz most monitors, even the expensive ones, don't have that high a res.

33 fps isn't bad for 1280x1024. Anything below 30 sucks but as long as it stays higher, it's fine.

33 frames at 1920x1024, not 1280x1024

That still seems like a ridiculously high resolution to me. I can bearly see the diference between 800x600 and 1024x768.

hey darthbob how the heck did u crank those resolutions out, dang. also when u turn on antistropic filtering and aa did u do it in the driver settings/video card options? what vid card u running. maybe u could advice me to get the best looking graphics i can out of my 6800 GT.

Anti-Aliasing is designed to take all those jagged and pixelated edges you see in something like 640x480 and make them smooth. But it also applies to other resolutions below about 1600x1200. I think that higher resolutions don't really need AA.
I have no idea what the heck antistropic filtering is...

Anisotropic filtering allows farther-away textures to be sharper than normal. Like when you drive away from the something the pixels get harder to decipher.

umm, my video card is a semi-working Radeon 9200 (128mb)

if i had AGP or PCI-E slots i would be getting an X600 PRO, or a low profile nVidia card for 8xAGP

heyyo,

*cries.. cleans tears off* That's some beautiful stuff man..

Now, Halo doesn't support AA and AF, BUT there's a special mode I read for those omega drivers.. they have a special method that even forces halo to accept its AF! :)

quote from omega drivers ati FAQ
What is the difference between Anisotropic Quality, Performance and Forced?
The Performance and Quality options found here do the same function as in the normal ATI drivers, Performance mode uses bilinear filtering while Quality uses an optimized trilinear filtering mode that is angle dependant. The new Forced mode behaves just like the Quality mode, but it "forces" full trilinear filtering with no optimizations on any game. Some games, like Halo, can see great benefit from this setting since the game always forces bilinear filtering. This mode is also a little slower than the normal Quality setting.

uh huh, bob, tell that person to give this a go, then the screenies will be even more beautiful...
