As many of you have already noticed, we just had a minor update to the forums here at Bungie.net. The "post count" is no longer being displayed next to user avatars. This has been debated around here for a while and we decided it was more trouble than it was worth. Even though it had no real purpose, many people thought there was a secret rank or reward they could earn if they posted enough so it just resulted in a lot of spam and worthless posts. It's gone forever.

The other thing you'll notice is that there are now a lot more posts being displayed per page - 2.5x more to be exact. This should hopefully make it a little easier to move through the forums and keep track of discussions.

We are constantly evaluating ways to improve our site and we have more updates planned for the weeks ahead. Thanks to everyone for a great launch week and please feel free to share your suggestions and ideas over in the Septagon.

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

I thinkall of those updates improved the forums. Good to see that the suggestions/feedback said by forum members is actually being read, unlike at other forums. :D

I believe HBO once had a similar feature where you could read how many people had viewed your post. They got rid of it as it caused spamming and repeated posting.

Good on you, Bungie.

Actually, they got rid of it because the server crashed because people kept refreshing on their posts.

Anyway, I'd have thought that people would have wanted lower numbers on the post views column, since it would appear that their thread was thought-provoking if there were like 4 views and 2 replies. Maybe that's me.

Anywho, good work on fixing that stuff, Achronos/Sketch/whoever. :)

bah

You guys just fixed the 2 biggest things I disliked. Bungie.net is now officially better than it was, and it only took you a weekto pull it off. My proverbial hat is off to you.
2 things that still need to change.
1. The News forum needs to be arranged by thread post date. It just makes sense that news stay in chronological order.
2. Wider forums. 'Nuff said 'bout that. (Although it's not suck a big deal anymore.)

I like the idea of having b.net and the forums updated as needed. This is cool.

no more post count, thank christ. now all we need is a search feature so we don't have to sift through the mountains of absolute CRAP that is being posted.

Yeah, great job with the changes. I agree that eliminating the post counter should help stop spammers, but it did serve a useful function. Assuming it wouldn't be abused, it would show the more experienced ones on the forum--those who have done the most posting here. Of course, if it would be abused, as it must have been, that counter would mean very little. I think it was a good idea.

But like others said, a search function would be great. Keep working on it. I also noticed what seems to be a mistake on the Text Markup Tags box on the right side of the screen. The rules for listing an email are this: "{email} address {email}". Shouldn't there be a "/" in the closing tag? Just seems so.

Just my thoughts,
Poocho :)

I disagree, something like that doesn't show the more experienced ones, it only shows how much someone has posted. It had no actual meaning.
