(Ok, before anyone tells me i should search for a previous thread or whatever i'm pretty new to the site so i have no idea how to find it except trawl through every page of topics. Which i'm not inclined to do.)

Anyway, i was just looking for some advice and tips on halo 2 legendary, i know its a b*tch and the hardest of the three on legendary but i won't be fulfilled until i've done it. (Especially the first level, i'm stuck in the second pelican bay...) Thanks!

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

me and my brother took forever to beat the first lvl. If you are playing it by yourself i would sugest getting the sputnik skull first. USE THE PLASMA PISTOL seriously.

USE THE PLASMA PISTOL

I remember i did that all the time. It worked really well. I also just spammed countless grenades whenever i saw something move.

Oddly enough, the second Pelican bay can be one of the toughest things in the game to accomplish without dying. I recommend the following:

Get Sputnik Skull first thing and then start Cairo Station. The advantage of the skull is that it allows you to move the crates in the bay around alot easier and quicker, to create more advantageous cover. Once you get back to that part, ignore your marines and take out the two plasma cannon grunts. Once they are done you will want to move the two large crates that are in just inside the initial opening to the hanger next to each other. I recommend moving the one on the right towards the one on the left. This creates a wide enough barrier for you to move in and out of cover while you fire off overcharged plasma shots at the closest elite and then pepper them with a headshot from the BR. You need to fire the BR shot as soon after the plasma overcharge hits because the elites in that bay move around alot more than they do in the rest of the game. If you have the Catch skull on, it is an absolute blast to take out the grunts only, and then watch what happens when you lob a grenade in their direction! All those plasmas laying around usually take out most of the lower level elites and the effect of sputnik has bodies flying all over the place!

You have to be patient in whittling down the waves, otherwise you are going to get wasted by the dual plasma rifle wielding elites. Take your time, let them settle down, then let them have it, rinse, repeat.

Good Luck!

Well, there's not enough weapons for ammo (for me) so I haul up weapons from previous fighting and lay them in the room just before you go into the hanger. As for catch I got slaughtered by the Legendary Grunts heaving nades at me.

However, Envy can be of value since it's easier to get through DH on Legendary than get through that hanger.

The PP/PR and the PP/BR and even the PP/Pistol combos work well.

Heh, I had more trouble getting through the first hanger because there was no distance for me to work with.

If worse comes to worse in that room you can always, using sputnik, punch the big box up top into the plasma turret and then get on the turret. When you're on the turret you will be inside the box and nothing can hurt you, you just mow everything down.

What! I didn't know that, cool man. This must work for any turret.

I don't know if it works for every turret, I just know that it works on that particular one, I've never tried it on any others.

ARBITER, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S NOT BUTTER!!! WORT WORT WORT.

That's a good idea with the turret and the box. Pretty much, here's what I do.

Plasma pistol spam. Take out their shields, and BR them. Call it the n8b combo, but here's what I do that's not so.

Make sure you have a headshot, and in in the middle of the burst, melee. You can use 1 round to headshot an elite instead of 3. What this does for you is give you more ammo to have later on when you'll need it.

Give the Marines a mix of SMG's and BR's. Keep them alive, and remember they have more health than you. Don't kill them.

Don't throw frags at Elites, only stickies. Frags are for grunts and that's about it.

As the above posters said the second Pelican bay (at least in my opinion) is one of the biggest pains in the butt for the entire campaign.

1) The concept of aid. Having more isn't always a good thing. My brother and I did all of the campaign on Legendary and I've got to say sometimes I wished he wasn't there. As you all know, if anyone dies you are taken back to the last checkpoint. Well, that is where (obviously) the teammate becomes a dead weight. Over all, my suggestion to you is to go in with a partner and by very coordinated. Don't play to aggressive and you should win.

2) Patience, patience, and more patience. This is one of the things that I lacked when I first began my conquest for domination. If you start the campaign without a lot of time on your hands than you are not going to be able to finish it (that is if you do co-operative.) If you lack patience, I suggest rethinking your plans. Without patience you play too aggressively. If you do that than you never really stood a chance.

)Snipers, your worst enemy. Everyone knows the infamy of the Jackal snipers. Able to turn one-hundred and eighty degrees within the blink of an eye, their shots extremely potent. The only way to defeat them realistically is to see them before they see you. Counter-sniping is almost suicidal, as soon as your head peeks over your cover you can be sure that some sniper, somewhere, is going to score a headshot.

YF (I'll add more later. Too sleepy.)

All throughout history great empires rise and fall. How you ask?
Two reasons:
1. Economic failure because of either inflation or socialistic programs.
2. War. Their armies were spread too thin and too far from home.

The United States has bases all around the world in "hazardous" areas and it's economy collapses it seems every 20 years. Do you really think that history won't change? Do you really think that you can run the world?

As midnight(my sister) said, we took forever.

Part of that is because we got the thunderstorm skull, which it took more then one stick to kill an elite. When I played it by myself, I used the plasma pistol whenever I could(Hint: always get the sputnik skull for playing legendary). Currently I am on the level "Regret" on legendary solo..........which I have to deal with the stupid jackal snipers -_-.

For that first gondola area that you approach here is an approach for dealing with all those jackal snipers that you have to kill before the hunters can land.

Make sure you have sputnik, envy helps but it is not required. I recommend STRONGLY that you make sure that you have the human sniper rifle and a full load of frags in your possession BEFORE you trigger the cinematic that seals the exit back out up the ramp that you killed the buggers on. Kill the elites and buggers that come into the room. Once it is clear get the fully charged beam rifle in the hallway and trigger the next spawn. Turn around and go back into the chamber you were just in. Make sure that you have a full compliment of plasmas at this point as well. We are going grenade jumping!

Stand at the top of the ramp in the middle of the room. Look straight ahead and then look just a bit to the right. There is a small elevated ledge there that you have a few ways to get up too. As long as there wasnt too much grenading going on you should be able to jump up to the top of one of the columns standing in the room. Your goal is to get to the small ledge to the right of the wall over the original two opening entry chamber. Once you are there, put yourself against the right wall, with your back to the prophet holo. Drop a plasma in front of you and crouch jump just before it explodes while pressing yourself against the wall. At the top of the jump if you do it right the fact that you were pressing yourself against the wall will send you onto a ledge as you clear the top of the wall. This puts you onto the top of the center structure which you can snipe from all day long! There is no direct path around the top, there is a center platform that rises above several flat spots that you can use to crouch jump your way around the whole structure. BE CAREFUL, once the jackals know you are up there they will send alot of shots your way and now most of them have lines of fire to your MC helmeted head!

If you run short of human and beam sniper ammo, there is a reload nearby. You can jump down to the ramp that you killed all of the buggers on and go back up to the base platform at the top. If you at least picked up the beam rifle that is there before, it will still be there, all of the other items are gone as the area has been sanitized by the last checkpoint. If you stand at the top of the ramp with the tower structure behind you, immediately in front of you will be a blank wall, grenade jump up on top, turn left and jump down behind the vines/trees. There is a dead marine with a sniper rifle and reloads hidden in the trees about 3/4 the way to the end on the left. I recommend that you use every round and charge you have before you go do this reload.

Thunderstorm would be great for CS, but you can't get it untill after the hangers.

I'm a dude playing a dude desguised as another dude. I hate heritics, non-logical thoughts and people who are better than I am. People tell me that they like a lot of games, but I hate them all. Whenever I play a video game, I always go crawling back to Halo 3. Never go full retard!

Ammunition is key. Especially on what ironicly is in my opinion the hardest level - level 1. Ciaro Station.

That is difficult in the second hanger because you fight lots-o-enemies and are given little ammo. Kill elites, and head enemies first. Deal with smaller foes second. GET LOTS OF COVER.

Cover is also very important. You want to be able to hide and recharge your shield during enemy fire whenever you can.

You always want to find a good piece of cover where you get a good view. EX- you can shoot them but they can't shoot you.

This applys to ALL LEVELS.

Flood fighting is easier than Covenant fighting in Legendary. Unlike the Covenant, whose AI and shields tend to get stronger as you transfur into Legendary, the Flood pretty much stay close to the same.

ERGO, fight flood the way that you normally would.

VEHICLE COMBAT is difficult. Where there was one wraith and two ghosts becomes one or two wraiths and four ghosts. HIKES!!

Save lots of vehciles and fight them ONE AT A TIME. Don't race into a swarm of enemy units. Let them come to you and get the one vs one.

Killing one ghost with a warthog is easier than killing four ghosts with a warthog.

Don't board enemy vehicles like you would in Normal or Heroic. lt is harder in Legendary.

l hope that these tips help.

Here is a helpful tip, for the lvl outskirts, dont spend hours trying to get through the courtyard, or having to deal with the sniper alley, go up the area you would normally go for the blind skull, (dont even dare pick up that skull) and go through the first part of the map, I skipped a lot areas, save the place at the hotel, at the top of the area, snipe the ultra, and use the battle rifle to deal with grunts.

When in the dark hallway, use grenades when the elites arrive, after that sequence, get on the warthog, and speed through the rest of the level.

The one and only level I suggest using the camoflauge glitch, is the level, the gravemind, there are too many snipers, and the I find it to be the worst level on legendary. Even on Heroic, its a tough level. (the easiet level on legendary, is the first part of the sacred Icon, when you take down the quarintine shields, then the level becomes somewhat difficult)

I know how to use the rooftops and skip the entire level of outskirts pretty much. You can then just speed through the tunnel in the ghost.

It is a tad disappointing that we have found ourselves put in the position that we feel skipping parts of maps is the best strategy. What that tells me is that either Bungie got careless when assessing the playability of certain aspects of the campaign on legendary (relative to the patience and skills of the players) or that as players we have lost some appreciation for who and what the MC is supposed to be. I tend to lean on the second part of that.

I admit that there are time when it I am dying way to often and making no progress with certain skulls and situations combined and choose to just bypass an area. The most common situation is related to vehicle combat areas. On legendary, with Sputnik and thunderstorm on, any ghost driven by an enemy becomes darn near lethal, far more of an increase in lethality than how dangerous the MC gets when skulls and difficulty are increased. I point out for example the second half of outskirts, after the dark tunnel. All of the ghost combat becomes tedious because your ghost takes such a beating compared to how long an enemy ghost lasts. Lately I have just taken to getting into one and speeding for as many checkpoints as possible. The funny thing is that before I found out about the skulls one of my favorite parts of the game was sniping the fuel tanks of all of the ghosts in the middle part of that portion of the level. It took alot of patience and a decent amount of skill, and if you did it right there was enough beam rifle left to take out the bulk of the Elites guarding the second tunnel entry (and even a rocket launcher to boot!). With skulls like sputnik, blind and thunderstorm on (which is a very fun way to play the beginning of outskirts and all of delta halo and regret), these kinds of battles become almost impossible to fight and kill everything without dying ten times.

As the MC, we are unfrozen when things are bleak, and we are needed to KICK SOME SERIOUS BUTT! We all need to start remembering that and just because something is difficult man up and take it out! When I play CE, EVERYTHING DIES, when I play 2 most things die, and I need to change that back to KILL EVERYTHING IN SIGHT! In my opinion, so do you!

I beat that today without dying.

It was kinda hard, but it's my around 10th time through that level on Legendary, so that helped a lot.

For the first level, make sure you always kill the grunts first. Their grenades will annoy the crap out of you. One second you'll be hiding, and you think you're safe, and the next minute you're doing that whole thing over again. Then, always have a few plasma pstols with you, because you'll need a ton to kill the elites, especailly if you're aim isn't so good. My advice is carry them over from previous rooms by dual weilding one, dropping it in your current room, and repeat the process.

The guy I quoted has it down. Just follow his advice.

If you ever need help with specific levels, PM me. I'll be happy to help.
