It's not bad with Halo PC! It's usually the user not bothering to go through the settings when they first install it...

If you allow Halo to connect through it and don't forget to lower the firewall to medium there don't seem to be any problems. I used it for ages, at least a year, and never had any problems once the firewall was on medium...

Yeah, if youre looking for an all-in-one package, zone alarm is the way to go. But it DOES interfere with halo online. I found that out the hard way.

(Hey muffmeister, wait...the firewall on medium? And no interference with halopc online?)

Zone alarm provides a free version of its software, which is what i have. It blocks all types of hackers and asks you before your computer releases a byte of information out into the world wide web.

But there is a trial version of Zone Alarm which lasts only 15 days. This blocks almost every type of popup, monitors email, screws hackers and tells you when theyre trying to break in, etc. Theres even a security lock that allows you to lock your computer from the internet.

By the by, try posting in the flood...just be ready for one or two "your mom" jokes if you post there...

1st of all don't use internet explorer. Get fire fox and that will totaly stop most and porbibly all spyware and ad ware. Then go to www.lavasoft.com and get there remover. There is an option in there where u can do a hole system can which scans everything.

dont use IE or sp2 bcos nething to do wiv microsoft. people wantr to hack.
ok, this is the way to go:
first download a program called mozila firefox., its a internet browser that doesnt get hacked by people as much. hence no pop-ups.
then download adaware se: this is free and will get rid of all adware but dont scan unless u hav a problem or ittl mess with ur registry and delte a thing called userinit. this means that u will log off as soon as u log on. it can b fixed wiv a reinstalll of windows though.
now download avg antivirus. its free and works
best firewall id zone labs' zone alarm like the people above said, but use each of the above for the selected features to work best.
there are some that are 'all in one' but there not as gd as getting these.
also disk defragment often to make sure ur hard drive is working effeicently.
and delete your tempery internet files regually in accesories stystem tools.
and one more thing. dont download anything even plugins if u dont know what they are.
to make sure zone alarm doesnt interfer, right click it, and select the programs that u 'trust' eg counter strike, and halo ect. but before playing a game just disable it if it dont let u play, as games dont have viruses unless u download the map direct from them.
if this is the case, like css does, then update steam regually too.
hope that helps mate. pm me if u need the links or help

Oh, i just ran a spyware scan on my computer. Did anyone else notice that "GAMESPY," the arcade you must install if you want halopc, actually has spyware?

Or is it just my computer?
