It doesn´t matter that much how a weapon looks, what matters is how it works. If I cared about how weapons looked I would never use the butterfly..I mean the plasma rifle..

i used to hate the BR and miss the AR

but i prefer the BR now for some reason :D

  • 01.01.2009 5:31 AM PDT

Does anyone even look at these?

I'm officially never going to use a BR again. I just played my first Lone Wolves game for a while now, and I realise how damn crappy they are.

i think the BR is great and the game just wouldnt be the same without it but i just dislike how it takes three headshots and a melee to kill someone instead of just two headshots like your would be better off just not meleeing ( new word i just made) and just taking that forth head shot. i like the BR in mlg cuz of the 110% damage so it only takes 2 headshots and a melee

yea you should stick to AR in FFA cuz it is more close courters and more aggressive and more meleeing and double teaming so BR doesnt do as well becuase of the reasons i posted above

  • 01.01.2009 2:28 PM PDT

The next person to assume I am talking about ranked, do us all a favor and look at what I play!

FFA is a style BR people don't get, it requires agression and the drive to kill everything in sight and lot have other people to help you.

I think a sweet thing to add to the br not really add but a medal for it
would be a 4 shot medal
When you 4 shot someone it could give u a medal

The BR remains broken. Any gun that takes someone from half shielding to dead is broken, and if you still can't comprehend that then you are completely incompetent.

Give us a Poll please.

They Know If they gave us a poll it would be overwhelming against their desicision.

Quoting yourself? Really? How sad.

If you haven't been paying attention the VAST majority of people who have posted in this thread have said they either like the spread or are indifferent about it. Not like that makes a whole hell of difference.

~B.B.

There was one poll done on Bungie.net that garnered over 1000 votes on the BR issue. It was overwhelmingly in support of the BR spread being tightened (600 something for, 300 something against). That thread got locked and deleted by a Bungie.net employee claiming that people were misconstruing the numbers and that Bungie had their own data.

Keep in mind that this was a poll done on Bungie.net, arguably the largest collection of staunch supporters of the current BR.

Please stop making uninformed assumptions.

Yes, made by DanBauer, one of the most disgraced posters on B.net. No one payed attention to that thread. I didn't even vote in it because it was a joke, neither did any of my friends. We just sat back and mocked it because it was so pointless. Look, polls on B.net are as indicative of something as a fortune cookie so let's not try to make it more than it is. I can spoof polls just as well as others.

I know about DanBauer's poll. I also know that it was deleted by Luke. I also know Dan cried like a -blam!- about it. I've also read all 114 pages of this thread and I've seen far more people agree that that current BR is either "fine" or they like the fact that there is a spread on it. Again, as I said in my previous post, "not like that makes a lot of difference".

You keep trying to say that I'm "uninformed" and it gets more and more pathetic every time. Let's try to cut the ad hominems down some shall we? Or don't so I can keep laughing at you.

Oh no! One of the most disgraced posters on Bungie.net! What a travesty! How can he even show his face after being designated the most disgraced poster on the Bungie.net!? I don’t think a finer collection of intelligent, witty, and eloquent people exists. Gah! What a disgrace, nothing he says should even be considered now!

A poll is not automatically discredited due to its creator. There was no bias in the options, it was a simple yes or no poll; no one was being coerced into voting one way or the other. Just because you disagree with the results doesn't mean the poll is pointless.

Is it 100% definitive and exact? No, of course not, but it was the largest poll we've had on the subject, and the results spoke quite clearly. I'm sure you and your friends sat back and laughed about it and those results are much more viable. But to those of us who are actually interested in having an intelligent discussion on the subject, we’re more into actual numbers.

"You've seen far more people agree that that current BR is either "fine" or they like the fact that there is a spread on it." Seriously? You're going to use that as an argument right after you attempt to discredit an actual tally, in the form of a poll, on the subject? Your biased guesstimate on the opinions of 114 pages worth of posts is somehow more legitimate thatnan actual recorded number? That’s amazing.

How about this: I'VE seen far more people agree that the current BR is not fine!

ZOMG!! What are we going to do now!?!?!?! We have quite the conundrum!
How about we refer to the poll that physically recorded people’s yes or no votes in an unbiased manner? The poll that showed roughly 66% for a tightened BR spread and 33% against.

Pretty much. He's a tool. One who made a promise that he was done with this website dozens of times and has yet to live up to that promise. Although most of his posts are pretty hilarious so at least he has that going for him.

I'm far less likely to participate in a thread/poll if it's made by DanBauer. As are a lot of people. I've seen subsequent threads after (some with polls) that asked the same question with very different results. But then again, it still doesn't matter a bit.

Is it 100% definitive and exact? No, of course not, but it was the largest poll we've had on the subject, and the results spoke quite clearly. It was a biased poll. If he wanted an unbiased poll he would have keep his dim-witted opinion to himself on it and just put the poll options out there. Let alone the fact that his name alone makes a poll biased. Go back through this thread and count how many unique posters have said that either the spread is fine or that they prefer it this way. Go ahead. I already know the results. But I guess since it's not in a convenient "poll" form it changes the fact of how many people have said it's fine.

My opinion is biased because I can look back and see what people are saying? Okay, that makes sense. Prove me wrong BigShow. Go back and tabulate who's saying what. Prove me wrong. But you can't because you don't have the numbers. And you know it. Count the unique people in this thread that has commented and see who's "winning". But as I've been saying, that proves just as much as that poll did. Which to be clear is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It's not representative of anything and it's inherently biased. Which was my point from the beginning.

And you keep trying to say that you aren't, yet continue to show your ignorance with each post you make. Actions speak louder than words, as they say. Again, BigShow, prove me wrong on this. Go back through this thread and see how many unique posters are saying what. I did it with the first 50 pages and it's not even close. But I'm biased right. So how about you do it? Prove me wrong. Go ahead. I'll wait.

Here BigShow, I'll start you off. The first 10 pages has a break-down like this:

Likes or indifferent with current H3 BR: 70

Dislikes and wants changes to current H3 BR: 31

If you want the specific members I have marked down for each, I'll give you those. Do you want me to put it in a pie chart so it is "unbiased"?

Regardless, DanBauer's poll and this thread doesn't prove anything. It's not representative of the general populous, and pretty much anything short of a direct Bungie poll via a 3rd party census means dick. That was my point but it was nice to see that you could even find an argument with my argument that those arguments aren't persuasive.

I never said it proved anything, I said it was the best we have. There will never be a perfectly accurate guage of a population unless you poll every single member of that population. Thats why sample populations were created; you select members from the community and assume they represent the entire populace. Thats what a poll does.

Regardless, I wouldn't care if 99% of the Bungie.net population said they didn't want the spread changed. 99% of Bungie.net members have a very poor grasp of what actually makes a game good or enjoyable. They may think they enjoy the game for one reason but it is in fact something else entirely that makes the game enjoyable for them. If we made a game with every Bungie.net suggestion included, it would be the worst game ever.

Do you want to know why so many people have such a strong opinion of the BR? You might think that its because some people prefer to play the game one way and others prefer to play it another. Or you may think its because some people feel one weapon is cheap and the other is not. You may even be niave enough to think that most people hold their opinion of the BR through their own personal analysis.

The real reason is something much more primitive and ridiculous.

Its because Bungie chose to start players with an SMG in Halo 2 and MLG chose to start people with a BR. The ensuing arguments and hatred that spawned from that slight divergence created such a sharp divide in players that they carry this animosity still. Most players on Bungie.net have a knee-jerk reaction against the BR, or anything "not Bungie," due to this fictionalized battle between Bungie and MLG.

And it frustrates me. It frustrates me that so many players hold such conviction when they have so little actual insight into the matter.

Want to know the sad thing? If Bungie had created Halo 3 and given the BR a super tight spread and low magnetism from the start, very few people would complain. Why? Its because they view anything Bungie does as good and correct and anything against Bungie's design as bad. Most posters have done very little in-depth analysis of the implications of the BR spread, they merely say its fine because its what Bungie gave them. Hell, if Bungie had created the Halo 2 BR to be a single shot weapon, NO ONE would be saying, "oh man, if only it was a three-round burst." Now, however, if you mention making the Halo 3 BR a single shot weapon, despite the obvious benefits to the gameplay, people will cry foul. Its a knee jerk reaction against anything that isn't Bungie. Its sad, but its the truth.

This is just some kid saying "OMGz BR PWNS ALL." However, you saying that BRing in LWs will get you AR'd 50 times is even more ignorant. OK, sorry. I lost it for a second. I didn't mean to call you ignorant. But, I will take my BR killing spree, while stealing all the kills and performing the noobish Grenade+Headshot spray combo, any day over the AR. The BR is the weapon to have when fighting AR users. The only benefit of an AR that a BR doesn't give you is that you can cheaply do a double beatdown when someone that spawns right on top of you comes recklessly down to melee you.

I'll be honest, as a huge MLG player and fan the spread is hardly noticeable to me and I can't really remember one time where the spread made me lose a BR battle, even though I think the idea of a BR Spread is just ridiculous and a result of horrible planning on Bungie's part.

My only problem with the BR in the game is that after having played so many games of MLG so many playlists are just now unplayable. I tried to help my friend level up dubs but after about five games we just gave up due to AR starts in games like Blackout One Flag or King Ghost Town. It's almost painful to watch the other team rack up the seconds as I stare at them from about forty feet away, wondering why my "rifle" can't shoot accurately at more than ten feet even if the reticule is placed perfectly on their chest.

I agree with the poster above who said that there exists some silly rivalry between the MLG and the Bungie die-hards. I honestly think that if Bungie put more faith in the talent and ability of their fanbase and implemented total BR starts, that almost everybody would be content, if not happy.

Send me a Friend Request if you're mature enough for an enjoyable game of Invasion. Also, take a look at HaloCharts, look at my profile, and get a taste of what goes on in that great website.

I use the BR to show off a little. I can keep up with generals and brigadiers, but only because I learn from them.

Keys to winning BR battles:
1. Strafe
2. Keep a bead on their head
3. Throw some well-timed grenades
4. Close the distance
5. Toss a little crouch jump in for the heck of it
