Off topic-ish: Okay, this is a thread about the BR, not a thread about MLG vs Bnet. It's sad that every time someone mentions anything to do with the BR, MLG is suddenly brought into the discussion. It's completely irrelevant. Get over it.
Back on Topic: On LAN, I can't complain too much about the BR. It's still a beastly weapon, but not too overpowering. However, the BR over XBL is usually dissapointing to use. It feels very mushy and inconsistent. This "mushy" feeling can be corrected by playing with 110% damage, but that's not very practical.
As far as the BR's spread goes, I don't have a solid opinion. I'm a person who likes symmetry and balance, so by default I'm not always so fond of the random spread, but it's nothing to complain about. The only reason I don't like it is because some BR battles can end literally because one player got an unlucky spread. When it comes to serious competition, this can be a problem. I almost wish Bungie would have tightened the spread just a little bit. But again, it's not that big of an issue for me.
Conclusion: The BR is far from perfect, but it's going to have flaws no matter what you do to it.
