I imagine this thread keeps going since new insights occasionally crop up.
The SPREAD is realistic, isn't it? Halo's mechanics are mostly based on true to life physics and phenomena (urrr, the sword notwithstanding). Occasionally miss a dead on headshot because of spread? That is realism - which is something one must be prepared to adapt and respond to in situations where one wishes to perform at their potential.
