I just don't get the dispute here. I've always been a firm believer that every weapon can be used to the best of its ability in a certain situation. If I'm in a vicious -blam!--fight close range AR all the way, no question in my mind. It has a good bullet spread high rate of fire and accurate at close range; good for the rush. Most, I think, would call that "cheap", as far as I'm concerned it's me or you and I'm gonna do what I can to kill you. Now th BR has its many advantages also. Not much can beat the four-shot or the always classic frag one shot to the head combo. also way better for medium range battles. The burst fire conserves ammo and the scope is awesome. In my opinion: it's hard to compare two things that have such different qualities, and saying that one is more "noobish" than the other is just erroneous.

Well said....I use whatever the occasion calls for in order for me to stay alive and for you to die.

I am generally an extremely enjoyable person to hang out with. And I love playing Halo which makes an almost perfect person.

The AR is more useful as a weapon when you use it at close-quarters, like indoor firefights. The BR is extremely effective for giving covering fire.

both the BR and the AR have their strengths and weaknesses

  • 03.16.2010 10:21 PM PDT

I don't think have something worng with br because it is a kind of weapon to do booom head shot and be away of dangerous things like strong vehicle example: scorpions. And of strong short range wepon what the sniper do 2

The BR is a great weapon and I use it more than any other, but it's a distance weapon where the AR is more of a close range weapon.

Someone who knows how to BR well can 4-shot someone rushing them with an AR...

Loved all Halo Games since Combat Evolved, mostly play Social Slayer, favorite map is Valhalla, favorite weapons are BR, Plasma Grenades and Melee.
Also play MW2, L4D series Half life series, FEAR & Project Origin, Farcry series, non FPS favs include Batman Arkam Ayslem, GTA series. Wishlist includes REACH obviously! BFBC2, Borderlands, Alan Wake

Love B/R for larger maps on multiplayer e.g Valhalla when scoped or even on smaller maps like Pit when not scoped got great penetration gets me loads of kills on slayer especially h/shots. Takes bit more skill than A/R but I'll grab it any time I can. Never use on campaign though which is weird guess something to do with higher amount of targets and greater amount of weapons available.

Both weapon have minor fixable problem.

The AR-

-it's Auto aim is not needed and reduces the skill gap. no I am not talking about the sticky reticule as part of the aim assist I'm talking about the fact that if the reticule is red the bullets will hit. and with the AR's reticule it's very easy. I have seen augment after argument that this is because casual players need an easy to use weapon however the way I see it most players don't use the weapon accurately anyway so they could depend on the wide auto fire spread to get a kill on there level and with the BR's auto aim most players could fair well with the BR on there level. if the auto aim was removed a good shot could win more consistently against against a worse shot.

- It's noise anyone miss the ungodly raor from the CE's MA5?

the BR

- It's ease of use is slightly disproportional to it's versatility. the main problem is it's burst function coupled with an auto aim and spread. I wish the BR were semi auto and the carbine burst fire due to it's rarity in MM.

Only God can judge me!

Ar is better close range if you can't 4 shot well, But tbh, BR is just too easy to kill people with so i rather it. AR isn't a bad gun though, really great for quick shot beat downs.

Bungie hasn't specifically said the br wouldn't be in Halo Reach, but it would make sense that it won't be, considering the DMR is now in Halo Reach, and the BR would probably not have been invented yet (considering we never saw it in Halo 1).

"Providing targets for clear headshots since 2009"

From what I've seen though, the DMR is SEMI-auto. So no controlled burst firing. It will be the kind of weapon to score your headshots with but I don't know if it will be really useful in the higher pressure situations. Think about it, why do pros and other high level players use the BR instead of the Covenant Carbine when many tests have proven that the Carbine will kill faster? The reason is having to land every shot yourself (well, there are other reasons like traceability of shots). With the BR it only takes four trigger pulls to kill an opponent under optimal circumstances. The Carbine takes 8 pulls, 7 to deplete the shields and 1 headshot. Semi Auto can screw up your control a little.

The MA37 will be the primary assault rifle in Reach. It has been said to feel similar to the original AR from Halo: CE. I wonder if this means it will be a little more accurate and better suited for the mid-range combat game that multiplayer often sees, thus replacing the role of the BR. Will we see shields depleted with the MA37 and then a headshot with the DMR? I am really interested in seeing how the higher skilled players will adapt to these new weapons.

i think that the BR and the AR are amazing guns in themselves although if there is one thing, it is that the AR does spread quite alot

  • 03.23.2010 2:22 PM PDT

The next person to assume I am talking about ranked, do us all a favor and look at what I play!

I'd love to see someone who can 4-shoot every time flawlessly in matchmaking with its variable connections, spread, and travel time. Bottom line: short of perfect test conditions, you are unlikely to pull off a perfect 4-shooting with any degree of regularity in normal games.

tF I BeAsT - 2nd account

I don't think these two guns are comparable.

The Br is primary used for mid to long range battle.

Where as the AR is used for close quarters.

If you know how to play the game, you will never try to kill someone across the map with the AR, and if you are intelligent, you will never try to BR someone extremely close to you.

I think if you had to compare two weapons, it should be the BR/Carbine.

Or the AR/PR.

It hard to compare to things that are used completely different.

It is like deciding if an ipod or cellphone is better. It is an invalid argument because they are used for different uses.

Agreed. The AR is more close-quarters, while the BR was meant for mid-long range combat. Nonetheless, the BR is used more anyways. I'm having a difficult time understanding why people say, "Oh, the AR is such a noob weapon. It's way too over powered," though, or that it's easy to use. I personally find that the AR is harder to use in most instances since it has a more limited window of use. The BR is easier to use once you know how to aim for the head, which doesn't take that long. A 4-shot is extremely effective, and could kill very quickly, whereas the AR's shot takes a longer time to kill.

See You On The Battlefield

I believe that the Br is a all good around weapon, it has a good fire rate and accuracy. The Ar is good in its aspects but at long range it can barley do anything. The AR is based for close quaters combat while the BR is based around all ranges of combat simply put.I use the BR its my weapon of mass destruction.
