AR for close-quarters, BR for all other ranges.

i agreee with that

  • 08.15.2010 4:51 PM PDT

i like the BR. great but not overpowered. a silenced one would be great tho

Noobs just cant use BR so they use AR. And when im playing Slayer BR's there is always 2+ noobs using AR and get's annoying so i become depresed that ppl don't respect the game how it is...

im with u on that noobs dont use br's and in mlg they use carbines. I learned that the hard way

  • 08.15.2010 9:29 PM PDT

BR is by far my favorite weapon in Halo 3. But in close combat, use the AR =P

Attention Bungie, Thanks for 20 years of EPICNESS and 10 years of HALO!

Personally I don't think it should be called the Battle Rifle, I think it should be called the Beast Rifle becuase of how awesome it is

My name is niceboy117, and yes I did just say niceboy, and yes 117. It might seem like obsession, but Halo is awsome, am I right, but 117 happens to be my favoite number or any number that has a combonation of 1s and 7s.

The assault rifle to me seems to really excel at close quarters more than midrange. Now I know that a lot you think that close quarters is like 5 feet in front of you, but really close quarters can sometimes fall into the 75 feet engagement range.

An assault rifle is a weapon is suppose to get the job done in most circumstances, (mid-range, close-range, and long-range.)

The assault rifle does not have a separated bore, or free barrel from the body of the weapon, and has more of an SMG design.

The impact of one bullet does not seem to have the velocity and power of a rifle round but more of a subsonic pistol round, and has no semi-auto capabilities.

And how the magazine loads behind the receiver of the weapon makes a longer barrel witch should improve accuracy and velocity, like a rifle.

-------

Now the "Battle Rifle" can do all of those things, get the job done in every situation, long, close, and mid-range, like an assault rifle should do.

The impact of each bullet resembles that of a rifle round.

And again the loading behind the receiver makes the barrel longer and adds more velocity, range, and accuracy.

It has a free barrel design like most assault rifles.

------

In conclusion, I think that the "Battle Rifle" should be titled as an assault rifle.

And the "Assault Rifle" could be retiled as like a subsonic rifle, or assault rifle cqb barrel.

For the record, I would tap that like like it was put-put golf. Like a college student opening a beer keg. Like a phone in the cold war. Like an oil company in a nature reserve. Like a goddamn telegraph.

Seriously though, I'm fine with experimenting

I don't quite understand the mechanics of a gun, but I know for certain that if it's outside regular radar range (25 meters, about 75 feet) it's no longer close range.

Yeah your right, I went a little to far the with the 100 feet.

did you know that moses and jesus used brs to concor the romans...

  • 08.17.2010 9:56 AM PDT

Think before you post

BR is good against infantry and specializes in long range
AR is good against vehicles and specializes in close range
Both have strengths weaknesses uses and limits. Depending on the sitaution, one may prove more effective/useful then the other, but neither is better

Per Audacia Ad Astra

i totally agree with that...i used to not like it but now it is definitley my weapon of choice

BR is my tool of destruction, I love it.

I spend most of my time in Team Swat, and the skill carries over to Slayer.

It does take some skill to use yes, but its not that hard to get to grips with. I reccommend using the pistol in ODST Firefight.

Quick question for some others like me maybe, does latency affect the BR much? Or does the game try its best to make sure everyones BR is shooting about the same?

Well I think Battle Rifle's do the job , they are very accurate and very strong.
But always pressing the trigger does get annoying sometimes. When it comes to Assault Rifle's I think that the damage is really bad because it does not do enough damage. So i think there is no problem with the Battle Rifle , but i think I am not quite sure about the Assault Rifle.

  • 08.20.2010 9:58 AM PDT

i do battle rifle mid/long range and assault for close up.

but i hardley get close ups so its br most of the time.

  • 08.20.2010 12:59 PM PDT

Malcom Rynolds is no longer my account. gt gamechallenged

As long as you know how to strafe good close range with the br you can avoid the shoot melee AR combo and win the fight.

Don't respect the game how it is? Halo is all about weapon variety. If you're only using your damn BR you're not respecting the game how it is.

Done. Drop this entire forum because this is the final conclusion. Well done, sir.

Ok, The BR:
Pros: Can't think of any
Cons: 1. Bullet Travel ruins it in Halo 3, (thanks to the stupid community who complained about getting killed across the map in Halo 2, so then Sage decided to nerf it)
2. At LONG range, none of the bullets register
3. At MEDIUM range, it takes about 6-7 headshots to kill
4. At CLOSE range, it takes about 4 headshots to kill, (does this make ANY sense?!?)
5. The gun just doesn't sound good at all, sounds like a toy gun rather than a real gun.
6. Body-shots do NOTHING.
Ok, the AR:
Pros: 1. It is a perfect short-medium range gun
2. Good enough accuracy

Cons: 1: Takes almost an entire clip at mid-range
2: Is only an amazing weapon at close-range.
3: A little too over-powered at close-range.

Now let me rant about other weapons, The Magnum:
Pros: 1. Absolutely nothing
Cons: 1. 6 headshots to kill, (what else to say?)
2. Short fire rate,
3. Hard to use at close-range
4. Only good to use to pop a headshot after weakening the shields, (oh wait, you die because it takes too long to pull out)
My question? These are the three MAIN weapons of Halo 3, why make them suck? It urges people to use power weapons instead, which birthes campers, which ruin matchmaking.

Halo: Reach weapon discussion (from the beta)
The AR:
Pros:
1. Great weapon, always used it for medium to short range kills.
2. It sounded like a REAL gun,
3. It went perfect for a beat-down right after kill,
4. Nice reticle
Cons:
1. It is a little like an SMG, (accuracy)

The DMR:
Pros: 1. Great LONG-RANGE WEAPON,
2. Bullet Travel isn't a factor
3. Reticle Bloom makes it much easier and fun to use,
4. Great for Headshots
Cons: 1. A LITTLE too long of a wait between shots, enemies can run away at medium to short range.
2. Has a little recoil
3. Always took an entire clip to kill somebody.

The new Magnum Pistol:
Pros: 1. Scope, 'nuff said
2. A fun weapon to use,

Cons: 1. From my POV, a little over-powered, maybe not, but the fire rate was a little high, just a little.
2. Could have used as a primary weapon rather than a side arm,
3. Found myself using it more than the Assault Rifle

Melee System:
Halo 3: Results in double beat-downs most of the time,
Halo: Reach: More fast-paced action packed meleeing, took more skill to use.

A thing to say, Reach's three main weapons WORKED, and I rarely encountered campers and/or power-weapon whores.
That is all I have to say.

Your just bad, deal with it. 6-7 shots close range - LMAO
