I like the BR just the way it is.

I really don't see what's wrong with it.

I agree the Br was built to be the most versatile weapon in the game and guess what it is! Any changes would upset the balance of the other weapons.

Love when the word balance is used to describe the weapons in Halo 3...what is it with people and wanting balance in everything that Halo has to offer? Nothing about halo 3 is balanced IMO, and this word is miss used to describe the game.

BOOM HEADSHOT!

I don't see why people complain about the BR when it is their own fault for lack of skill.

Just about every thing I post is my opinion and nothing more. Be subjective. Respect other's opinions. Try to understand other's point of view.

Does this remind anyone of the pistol argument from Halo CE to Halo 2? It sure does remind me of it.

I would like to see the BR spread a little tighter for a little more distance then after said distance spread wildly. It's no big deal though. I've noticed that host and off host are a lot more important.

Why isn't well written constructive criticism toward the BR spread allowed anymore?

that's probably because almost everyone would consider the term "balance" subjective. it seems Bungie's view of balance for H3 is for all weapons to have a intended role/range and have few weapons that cross over the ranges of other weapons. that each weapon have pros and cons. up until H3, the M6D or BR-55 had a whole lot of pros and very little cons (if any). which is why those weapons seemed to dominate weapons balance so much. so in H3 they balanced the weapon (in this case the BR) by making it less accurate noticeably at a certain range away. they didn't stop the weapon from being effective at that range, it just might take more shots to get the kill. so now you have to weigh the options of going for a longer range kill and possibly use up BR ammo, or move inside the intended range. no more cross-level hit-scan BR fights.

I'm happy with the change of the BR in H3 and I'm happy that Bungie is intending on keeping it that way.

Yup i do remember that, and i agree with you, tighter spread for the BR would be great, and i think everyone would actually love the BR even more then they do now (contrary to what people have been saying on how tightening the spread would make it a 4shot SR).

if they do anything, it should be make it so you start with it more often. i don't feel the burst should be tightened, but if it was, the carbine should be made more accurate to balance the two out.

Agree with you as well, i think AR,BR should be standard issue at start of all Match Making unless its a specific weapons match such as Rockets on whatever map.

i read that one thread about "bullet dropping" and thought it was fake, anti-BR crap. but it is real. it happened to me in Ghost Town while playing SWAT. i shot this guy directly in the face but didn't kill him. I theatred it afterwards and saw that my 3rd bullet in fact hid him squarely in the face, but the bullet "returned" to its clip at the top-right hand corner in the ammo clip.

this meant that the bullet "dropped" and returned to me as ammo. I consider this the one glaring problem w/ the BR, and the only one. the BR functions as a BR in real life would. and it takes a great amount of skill to out-BR someone while jumping, strafing, ducking, etc.

Also, a few of us were talking during matchmaking and Halo: Reach is definitely going to be, not a first person shooter, not a third person shooter, but a second person shooter. Bungie is going to revolutionize the way you watch other people play games.

BR business is serious business. I haven't slept a full night since they said they wouldn't be fixing the BR. I encourage all MLG supporters to hold a hunger strike until it is fixed.

Hahaha, after your rally of famish you can all write a real book on weight loss, cuzz none of you will be eating for quite sometime. I do hope they address the BR's heavily voiced complaints, but i'm not going to hold my breath in the process, cuzz Bungie isn't much for answering the communities complaints about there precious game. So i just deal with it and AR Camp in my Sandbox of fun :)

Headlong - BR starts - last game of Halo 2. Never forget.

REAL Mancannon!!!

Bungie, I think you are misunderstanding the community. While I love the BR as it is, you seem to think people want it to be as good as it is in Halo 2. They don't, they just want it to be consistent and have luck as a factor eliminated. At least that's what it seems they want to me.

Check out my Halo 3 machinima series "Mad Thought of The Day" as I share topics regarding Halo 3 that everyone can relate to.

Simply put, the BR that we have in Halo 3 is a new weapon than that of Halo 2. Therefore, those complaining that the BR is no longer the same, that Bungie has "ignored its fans on the basis of money," or that the BR is broken, have 2 choices.

Choice 1. Hush thine mouth, kind sir or madam, and use another weapon,
or
Choice 2. Accept defeat, then adjust to the BR's mechanics.

Its that easy. Use the BR the way its meant to be used in Halo 3, and you'll be fine.

=)

Yeah, the carbine should be equally balanced with it.

People don't think the BR should go back to the H2 BR, but instead give it a consistent spread instead of making luck a factor in a BR fight.

If people think there's something wrong with the BR to the point that it's gamebreaking, I suggest that they stop playing Halo 3 and afterward go outside for a stroll, or failing that, just play a different game altogether and stop complaining. Bungie has explained why they think that the Battle Rifle is a balanced, well-designed weapon, and if I was to try to predict their actions, I would say that it's safe to assume that they're not going to change the Battle Rifle. If they were going to change something, they would have done so by now.

To those complaining about the Battle Rifle on these forums: Either put up with what you think is wrong or leave, you're not going to win this fight. Additionally, in my opinion, you're wrong anyway.

Well you guys want proof the BR needs to be changed. Go play SWAT, you hit a guy 6 times and he is still alive.

Also I don't know where everyone assumes we want the H2 BR back. We like the H3 BR, the only problem is the spread makes it inconsistent, and it comes down to who gets the better spread, aka LUCK in a 1v1 where they are equally matched, and have perfect aim in every sense of the word.

We just want the spread to be tightend.

Not much more I can say after all the well thought out posts about the BR needing a change.

Due to the incessant amount of spam and repeat posting about the topic of the design of the Battle Rifle in Halo 3, all threads about it will be locked on sight and the author warned (then banned if they keep doing it). Please discuss the BR and your thoughts in this thread and this thread alone.

For reference, Bungie's response to all comments and complaints about the design of the Battle Rifle can be found in the weekly update for June 20th, 2008.

People expecting further Bungie responses on the issue are likely to be disappointed.

What's the point Achronos? You say...direct all discussion here...but then your ending sentence basically says, post all you want, at the end of the day, it wont matter cause we Bungie don't give a #$%#$.

The case is closed as far as I am concerned. Might as well just close this thread, and say, "ANY DISCUSSION RELATED TO THE FIXING OF THE BR WILL BE DELETED AND AUTHORS WILL RECIEVE BANS"

I mean...all you're doing is just giving us the run around. Either accept the fact that your community wants to see some changes, or confirm to us that you're NEVER going to change the BR so that we can just move on.

I've moved on, I traded this pos game for UT3, and I got a UT3 faceplate for my 360! WOOT!

Way to treat your community. This is the worst development team I've ever seen work for Bungie. I wonder...why did Hoberman and Howard leave Bungie? Hmmm...it's good that they got out when they did.
