It's a good thing Bungie changed the Battle Rifle it's more random and inconsistent (according to you. I haven't noticed a change) this forces people to use other weapons and move around the map to collect these weapons instead of just spawning with the only gun you will ever use. So now the overall game is more challenging and takes more skill to play. I can only assume that this is what Bungie wanted therefore IT IS PERFECT.

Randomness does not equal more or less skillful. It equals random. Meaning that the winner of a 1 on 1 battle is determined by a random number generator. This is even true within the usefull parameters of the BR. The random spread of the BR does not cause players to use other weapons. It's still used just as much as H2, if not more. In H2 people still picked up the shotgun, sniper, sword, and dual weildable weapons because they were easier to use than the BR. The BR was not overpowered, nor was it the "end all be all" weapon you H3 BR lovers proclaim it to be. I don't want the H2 BR back, and you seriously need a new f-ing argument. In H2 the BR did what it was supposed to do. It did what any assault style rifle is designed to do. Provide support from basic infantry troops. When used in tandem two BR wielders is devastating, but one alone isn't really that special in H2 or 3. It was ok at long range, as in able to consistently ping a sniper from accross a long distance. Unlike the H3 BR which may or may not ping said sniper, even from accross guardian. It was ideally suited for medium ranged combat in H2, which the H3 BR falls short of. Short range combat was not suggested because of power weapons such as the sword, or shotgun, but was doable thanks to button glitches like BxR, and BxB. I'm glad these button cheats are gone in H3 because the BR was never intended to work so well at close range. The H3 BR was castrated. The button glitches were removed (thank god), and it's range was shortened (no complaints there), but when the random spread was added to the equation it only served to shorten the effecive range of the BR so that it only truely works as a short range weapon. I really don't know what's so hard about this to understand. I don't even give a crap if the keep the random spread in the damn game. What I, and many others, want is for the option to tweak the spread of any weapon to be added to custom gametypes.

***EDIT*** Oh and you didn't notice the difference because you didn't know how to use it yet in H2. You, sir, are the prime example of what has happened to the Halo franchise. In Halo 2 your highest skill is a 15. Other than that you don't have one over 10, yet somehow in Halo 3 you're a level 46 brigadier. I understand that people get better over time, but it seems to me that over 1400 games of Halo 2 you could do better than a 15, if in only 2,000 games in H3 you've reached 46.

hypocrisy
I believe it is defined right there.

The BR needs the spread tightened. The BR needs to stop dropping bullets.

Doing that won't mess up the "precious" sandbox.

BB, you are an idiot and you always tell people that they shouldn't have this or that even if it doesn't affect anyone else.

HAHHAHAHAHHAAHA

You were against the MLG playlist

Actually no I wasn't. Neither was I against THC in H3 or THC in H2. Want me to pull up my countless posts saying that? I'm glad they gave the "MLG" their own playlist. It made them shut up for about 10 minutes.

you were against BR starts

Actually no I wasn't. I suggested that Bungie should add Team Rifles like in H2. But at the same time I said they should weight them the same as other limited weaponry gametypes, which is like 10%-15%. Team Rifles is the same as Team Snipers and Team Rockets. I've said that BR-starts harm gameplay. I've explained why. I've explained why BR-starts on Objective gametypes is counterproductive and I've explained why.

and now you are against giving people the OPTION to turn off something in CUSTOM games and you are complaining about it.

The reason why I'm against it at the moment (even though I said I was undecided) is because I think it will do more harm than good. It might make a few people happy for about 18 seconds and as soon as they start playing H3 with a H2 BR the complaints will start piling in. It won't solve any problems. The same people will still be complaining because they won't be happy until "their" preferred version of the BR isn't in MM. I can ensure you that as soon as Bungie added the option to remove the BR spread that not more than a half hour after that someone would be on the forums screaming about how the H3 BR sucks and that the "no-spread" BR is how it's suppose to be. Bungie would be trading one headache and argument for another. However, unlike at that point, Bungie currently hasn't taken the time and effort to make that change. So Bungie could take the time to add that option to the menu. But why stop there? Why not remove AR spread or Shotgun spread? SMG spread? Why not add back in Superjumps in customs? Some people really seemed to like that in H2 apparently.

To me, and here's where I'm referring to Pandora's Box Craven, is that if Bungie were to take the time and resources to make that option/update it would only create for themselves more headaches and more arguments. Just like giving people a M6D in Forge/Customs would do much of the same. Giving people the option to remove BR spread wouldn't stop any arguments and would only increase add others.

The pandoras box you are referring to is that fact that you are scared that the BR spread being off would become the main way to play the game. Why do you hate the BR so much...geez.

Partially. I don't want to see a broken gun return to MM. I seriously doubt that Bungie would ever put a "no-spread" BR ever back in MM, so I'm not exactly scared. I don't hate the BR you twit. I use it more than any other weapon. I have 20,000 kills with it in H3. I just don't like the unbalanced broken gameplay that the M6D and H2 BR created. The BR in H3 is still a dominant weapon. It's just not nearly as unbalanced as either of the two previous weapons were. Saying I "hate" the BR is hilarious.

Someone said that 5k in MLG playlist doesn't represent the competitive players, and you are correct sir. I didn't even think about all the customs people play. But even so, 10 yr old AR noobs out number us 100 fold anyway you look at it.

But, i don't see how an option is that much of a big deal. If someone was talking about an option to make the AR more powerful, I wouldnt' give a crap about it. Why would I? It's an option i would never use. Thanks.

Yeah, but as soon as those people started coming on the forums saying how better the AR is after removing the spread and making it more powerful and that it should be that way in MM; I'm going to guess you'd start having a problem with it. The thing is, the "AR-noobs" as you so eloquently put it wouldn't be on the forums trying to take an over-powered gun and put it in MM. I can tell you that that wouldn't be the case if they added the option for the BR.

The Br is meant for people who are good at headshots (which is most people nowadays)
So I dont know what everybody is complaining about.
Only compaint is that they aren't even close to what they used to be, it's like the retarded cousin of the Halo 2 BRs.

You do realize that they reset your level in H2 if you don't play for a while right???? Or at least they did at some point. Anyways lets not say you need to be more or less skill full to use it lets just say its a worse gun because it is random. Since you know it is random your not going to want to use it as much therefor you will need to get other guns NOT JUST POWER WEAPONS I am talking about using ALL the guns in the game. You are right the Battle Rifle is devastating when more than one person is using it on the same target. Maybe all Bungie wanted to do was make people play more as a team?

I said competitive, not pro. Thanks for reading.

Yeah, it's the most played game, but where is that population at? 300k people on and 5k in MLG. The competitive population is SMALL and it's getting smaller due to the small skill gap.

And yeah, you are right about us being insignificant. Why do you think we got so screwed over? Do you hate other minority populations because they are insignifcant because they dont' have big numbers? You racist.

The reason why we keep posting on these forums is because we love halo more than you ever could. And it hurts our soul that the greatest game series of all time was torn apart and made horrible for the sake of the majority. I keep coming on here hoping for that magic post. The one that says "This is bungie. We are sooo sorry for screwing you over so bad. HEre is the real halo 3." /cry

"Competitive" vs. "Pro"...do you really want to argue semantics here? Fine...there's no objective criteria for what makes a "competitive" player either. And membership in MLG is hardly where the competitive community begins and ends.

And calling me a racist because I don't acknowledge the attention-grabbing attempts at provoking Halo 3 fans made by a few, because they feel they are somehow elite or that their membership in MLG somehow makes them experts and entitled to a soapbox is hardly respectful of the struggles endured by groups around the world, who have been discriminated against because of the color of their skin, their beliefs or where they were born. So, forgive me, but I don't just think your behavior is insignificant - I think it's downright reprehensible.

See, the thing is, the opinions I've expressed about the BR complainers have nothing to do with race, creed or color - it's about your behavior. And if you're even considering saying you're not trying to be provoking, you may want to consider the fact that you called me a racist in the first place. And the fact that I disagee with what you DO, not what you ARE, makes me quite the opposite of a bigot.

Now...did you have an ACTUAL argument? Or did you just want to call me provoking names and claim you love Halo more than I do because I don't agree with you?

By the way, the randomness in the spread has nothing to do with how powerful a weapon is. All it does is make the range inconsistent. If the randomness gets taken out, the BR will be just as effective, however, more consistent. Have you ever noticed that the Shotgun has an inconsistent range? That's because it has a random spread.

So your argument that says this "forces" us to use other weapons is incorrect. All this does is create a frustrating gaming environment that isn't necessary. The only reason for Bungie making the weapons random is they believe that consistency makes gameplay boring, because the ranges that kill would never change.

You know what I partially agree with you on that one, but seriously people will find a way to complain no matter what. This issue has affected a lot of people, and a lot of people have spoken out about this issue. No I don't think it's a majority of the H3 community, It's maybe a quarter, but that doesn' t invalidate the claim that the BR is random. Bungie even said it's random. A custom games option would allow players to compete in tournaments, and on gamebattles in a more consistent combat simulator. This would alleviate many of the problems. I'm all for being able to change the spread on ALL weapons. Superjumping in custom games was something I relished as well, and I would LOVE to be able to do some kind of glitch like that in H3. All in all, some people would still complain, I might even be one of them I don't know, but it wouldn't hurt anything as of right now. The game wouldn't change for 75% of the players out there, and if they want to Bungie could return to ignoring those who disagree with them after the 30 minutes of silence they'll recieve.

I'm still waiting for you to do the same thing to the few people who said "The H3 BR is broken". They are doing the exact same thing you're criticizing this kid for and yet...you haven't said a word about it/them.

I personally hate the random br spread, along with the constant bull-blam!- of bullets not registering with snipe etc it just means halo is 70% connection 28% luck and 2% skill. Why make it completely random? thats retarded. In properly made games such as the old versions on counterstrike (not tht -blam!- kids game css) the bullets had a spray much like bungie was trying to achieve in taking away the hitscan, but the spray was relatively consistent and you could control it, it would also react to different directional changes the same way. that meant a skilled person who had learned to control the spray would beat a noob who just tried to aim the crosshair.
In halo this is brought down to person a will beat person b because person a was lucky enough for the bullets to hit person b. This is basically what counterstrike source is.

So it would appear that modern day games are made far more noob friendly so as to make the extra money without a thought or concern for the fact the games are actually just -blam!-. If i was part of bungie making milllions for pissing people off id be loving it, but as im a part of the group of people getting pissed off at a -blam!- random game and a company that doesnt give two -blam!-s about fixing any problems im not loving it.

I just wish i lived in washington so i could petrol bomb the bungie offices :]

Good day to you bungie, you bunch of -blam!- pricks.

You know what I have done the very same thing to the kids who only post things like "fix the BR.", or "BR is broked". I do tell them off as well. In fact multiple times I have told both kind of kids off because they're not contributing to the discussion. If you have nothing usefull to post then please GTFO. The only one who needs to grow up is you. Realize when it's appropriate to be an -blam!-. Relish your immaturity, when it's ok. Know when to stop, and you obviously don't know when to stop or begin. Also wishing something simply to spite someone else is just as immature as what I did to that kid.
