Ok so first off, It's the year 2552. You would think a gun such as the BR would be accurate, no doubt about it. It even has a scope FFS. Why jip people out of their kills by implementing a random BR spread that misses people that you are actually aiming at? With MLG settings the BR is the starting weapon for all gametypes. I use it more than any other weapon BY FAR. Now, just cause im from MLG, and i play MLG settings and customs, PLEASE DON'T BASH ME. Bungie in fact is a SPONSOR of MLG whether you guys like it or not. Bungie WAS AWARE that they have competitive fans in MLG before that made h3. Although Bungie wanted there to be a BR spread, at least give us options to change it in custom games/forge.
Alright, Bungie made the game for you guys to have fun. you guys can like the BR as much as you want, and not notice anything about the BR. But for the competitive players, it leaves us in the dust, and we in fact DO notice A LOT wrong with the BR
So, why include a random BR spread and not give any options in custom games to maybe tighten it or to change settings for individual weapons if you're going to give us a BR so different from halo 2? I understand that the current way the BR is is the way Bungie would like it to be, but for competitive players, skill should not be determined by the randomness of a weapon. I've been out BR'ed many times because my bullets have spread around the opponents head
So... you think that, because this game takes place in the fictional year 2552, that this gun should be deadly accurate? By that statement so should the Shotgun. So should the SMG. So should the Assault Rifle. So should all the Covenant's weapons. Every weapon in the game should be 100% accurate to the exact center of the crosshair. The problem is, there is a casual audience to this game which dwarves the "competitive" audience. These people do not WANT aim to trump everything else in the game.
If I may add, the Battle Rifle should not be 100% accurate anyway. It has a semi large reticle for a reason; its shots are meant to have a little bit of leeway. It's a burst weapon. The recoil from the first shot and second shot shake the gun, causing it to slightly move. That is why the bullets are innaccurate at times. They don't miss to the point of being outside the crosshair, simply to the point of not hitting the center. If you don't like that, I suggest you play games with only Sniper Rifle/Spartan Laser starts, as those are guns which ARE supposed to be 100% accurate.
I believe the problem with the desire for a custom spread tightening lies in two areas. One would be that the gun is not meant to be a Sniper Rifle, nor is any other gun for that matter, so why add the extra 100 possible conditions for a weapon to be able to fire from? That would lower the game's resources, as well as increase load times. Secondly, this would cause a HUGE amount of "zOMG BNUGY UMSUT PUT T3H TIGHT SPREED IN MM NAO!" threads to arise from every wannabe MLG pro who gets outgunned in Matchmaking. Both situations don't seem work the giant work that would be the change.
