The BR is the best weapon in Halo 3, hands down. It's nice and well-rounded and it inflicts a nice amount of damage.

How does a company become #1 withough caring about the players and what they want? I fail to see the connection here.

Ok so first off, It's the year 2552. You would think a gun such as the BR would be accurate, no doubt about it. It even has a scope FFS. Why jip people out of their kills by implementing a random BR spread that misses people that you are actually aiming at? With MLG settings the BR is the starting weapon for all gametypes. I use it more than any other weapon BY FAR. Now, just cause im from MLG, and i play MLG settings and customs, PLEASE DON'T BASH ME. Bungie in fact is a SPONSOR of MLG whether you guys like it or not. Bungie WAS AWARE that they have competitive fans in MLG before that made h3. Although Bungie wanted there to be a BR spread, at least give us options to change it in custom games/forge.

Alright, Bungie made the game for you guys to have fun. you guys can like the BR as much as you want, and not notice anything about the BR. But for the competitive players, it leaves us in the dust, and we in fact DO notice A LOT wrong with the BR

So, why include a random BR spread and not give any options in custom games to maybe tighten it or to change settings for individual weapons if you're going to give us a BR so different from halo 2? I understand that the current way the BR is is the way Bungie would like it to be, but for competitive players, skill should not be determined by the randomness of a weapon. I've been out BR'ed many times because my bullets have spread around the opponents head

So... you think that, because this game takes place in the fictional year 2552, that this gun should be deadly accurate? By that statement so should the Shotgun. So should the SMG. So should the Assault Rifle. So should all the Covenant's weapons. Every weapon in the game should be 100% accurate to the exact center of the crosshair. The problem is, there is a casual audience to this game which dwarves the "competitive" audience. These people do not WANT aim to trump everything else in the game.

If I may add, the Battle Rifle should not be 100% accurate anyway. It has a semi large reticle for a reason; its shots are meant to have a little bit of leeway. It's a burst weapon. The recoil from the first shot and second shot shake the gun, causing it to slightly move. That is why the bullets are innaccurate at times. They don't miss to the point of being outside the crosshair, simply to the point of not hitting the center. If you don't like that, I suggest you play games with only Sniper Rifle/Spartan Laser starts, as those are guns which ARE supposed to be 100% accurate.

I believe the problem with the desire for a custom spread tightening lies in two areas. One would be that the gun is not meant to be a Sniper Rifle, nor is any other gun for that matter, so why add the extra 100 possible conditions for a weapon to be able to fire from? That would lower the game's resources, as well as increase load times. Secondly, this would cause a HUGE amount of "zOMG BNUGY UMSUT PUT T3H TIGHT SPREED IN MM NAO!" threads to arise from every wannabe MLG pro who gets outgunned in Matchmaking. Both situations don't seem work the giant work that would be the change.

Amen. It's amazing how many people just can't accept the BR in Halo 3. Granted, I am not a veteran of Halo 2, but I just don't get it. It makes perfect sense to me.

Halo 3 was hype and nothing more. The BR sucks in Halo 3 compared to Halo 2. And when I said the competitive players are the "true" players, I meant they are the players who will be here the longest supporting this game. I'm so sick of people coming into forums and saying dumb -blam!- just because they like to conform to what the majority says. Don't say that I'm acting that way, because I'm not. The BR is still a good weapon in Halo 3, don't get me wrong, but it definitely lost what it had in Halo 2.

In halo 2 I've always liked the SMG more than the BR, but then Halo 3 came out and my interest turned to the assault rifle. However, after a while of getting killed over and over again by people using the battle rifle once they started shooting after I had (please excuse my bad grammer), it finaly came to me that the battle rifle was stronger, seeming.
Now I prefer to use the battle rifle, even though I'm not all that good with it yet, but I find it harder to hit moving targets with in Halo 3 than back in Halo 2.

You're missing a few key steps in your chain of logic here...the fact that the game is popular and successful doesn't prove that there was some sort of conspiracy to dumb down the game for the sake of selling more copies...and declaring the "Case Closed" hardly makes it so.

What the numbers DO prove conclusively, however, is that the population of BR complainers (who, by the way, don't even speak for the entire competitive community) are a statistically insignificant group.

And also, if you want Bungie to pay attention to your personal requests...you may consider starting by not accusing the most fan-responsive, community-oriented developer in the business of not caring about their fans and the players.

It's obvious, if you read anything they write about the design choices or the updates that they put a LOT of thought into what they do with the game and want it to be the best experience possible. YOU may not agree with the decisions they make...but frankly, I'd rather have their team of professionals making the call than a bunch of inconsiderate armchair quarterbacks anyday of the week.

I feel the same way, why change something that there isnt anything wrong with.

BR is pretty much the only wep i use when the other unique guns are not around, and i am fine with the way it is.

Hey guys!

Here is the original tread, that got locked..... I should have tried with a more general title (Not only the BR, because this idea can be applicable ion all the weapons)

So I just thought of something. To compensate the BR spread/Lag in Halo 3, should Bungie increase of give us the option to increase the amount of bullets in the BR clips?

PLEASE DON'T TURN THIS TREAD IN ANOTHER STUPID BR/AR FLAME WAR!!!

Ok let me explain my point:

I played a lot of games today and it just seemed that I would always run out of bullets (I.E. after entering 2 BR battles in a row) causing me to die. Now, you can tell me I'm stupid and that I should reload, but I don't care what you think and I'm pretty comfortable with my Halo 3 skills.

Option 1- Now in halo 2, there was almost no BR spread, which was a problem. I think Bungie did a good job increasing the spread. Now the thing is, with lag incredibly high in this game (I'm not complaining but I think the netcoding could be improved) Lots of bullets won't register if you are off-host. So now, to compensate that, I would add 4 more bursts to the BR (12 Bullets). With that modification, 2 BR battles In a row would not cause you to run out of bullets and would give you the chance to out-BR your opponent.

Option 2 -Another idea would be to give us the option in Custom games to increase the amount of bullets in the BR. But this option could be added to every weapon. (Maybe a new forge option for the weapons) So, for example, you could have a BR with 48 bullets per clip and ARs with 64 bullets per clip but less powerful (Like in Halo 1) Ok this was just an example but you get the point. In this option, Bungie would give the community to tweak small details in custom games, giving for example MLG the opportunity to use more weapons by tuning their bullet amount and their power.

Other Idea-Now after writing this, I just thought of something else, In forge, we should be able to tune every weapon by themselves (Damage, clip size, spread, reload time, etc.)

Thanks for reading

Yes... get host.

And then all of your shots will register, and not just half of them.

... but if all of MLG disappeared tomorrow, Halo 3 would still be the most successful game franchise on XBL and no one would even notice they were gone.

Oh really?

Is that why CoD4 has held the top XBL spot many a time.
