Just curious (I work at a grocery store, so i was inspired to ask this).

Carbs are good for you as long as you excercise at least a little bit. But then again, this is America. Our most popular diets all revolve around eating alone.
Many Americans have the choice- be fat or excercise? They pick be fat. God forbid they should have to excercise.
I think the low-carb craze is so popular because it doesn't involve excercise and America is lazy.

I'll be on my own side.

you do know that if youre on the Atkins diet, your brain doesnt get the carbs it needs, which can be very bad. i got my mom off it by telling her"yeah go ahead.be a stupid twig!"

Me: "OMFG, Dude... wtf!"
AbolitionofMan: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to betray you."
Me: "That's the 4th time in this game alone!"
Chris: "Third, besides he had the flag I was trying to stop him, how was I supposed to know you were there."
Me: "I said, 'I got the Flag, don't shoot.'"
Chris: "Well those Wraith shots take a while to reach you."
Me: "You were right next to me, I had killed him and a minute passed before you decided to shoot."
Chris: "Hahahahaha, yeah... that was great."

It's the stupidest thing ever. Why did we never need this until now? Because people do not excersice like they used to. Everything is remote... or we are taken places instead of walking. And we intact more... carbs are a very VITAL part of our bodies. As long as you burn your carbs, (being active), then you wouldn't gain weight. Most people on it,(not all), are people who think that they can be lazy and lose weight at the same time. This is false. I can't wait for a study to show that this is actually very damaging to the body... to deprive it of carbs.

That's why I voted for stupid. I also think it's a fad. It's a stoopid fad. I eagerly await that study too, Achilles. Hopefully, such "real" evidence would help us talk sense into people for whom common sense isn't enough... Lipids, starches, and saccharides are all burned as fuel. If you eat more than your body knows what to do with, you get fat. Humans have been eating carbs for longer than they've been human, so carbs have become important because we evolved eating them. I hope this thread gets through to someone and benefits them.

Foamy says it loud 'N clear with one of his rants. I like his advice to those seeking external validation. Warning: Don't click if you have a problem with some "forbidden" words. I think "misguided fools" would be more accurate than "@$$holes" or "fat bastards", though.

Edit:
For those who've seen the cartoon: I just remembered that I ate something today called a "sundae cone", which came on a waffle cone.

that cartoon is funny...

I did the carbless diet a few years ago, and lost 20 pounds in 3 weeks, pretty cool. BUT, I cannot live without bread, just last night I had three pieces of toast with PB on them for dinner. Love my bread.

Mmm, bread. Most of my energy comes from starchy stuff like pasta and bread,(which is how it should be for a human) so I couldn't do the Atkins thing if I wanted to anyway. I wouldn't be able to stand having to get all my energy from fats and sugars, I'd have to eat soo much more stuff with those fuel sources- and then there's the products of lipid catabolism! I would work up a hell of a stinky sweat...
