They could release a bootleg copy or leak it to the public...

I have had the same BSOD on windows for 5 years, happens when I play halo ironically and it still isnt fixed in SP3 so I know MS wont do -blam!-.

Course all it takes is someone with programming knowledge to make a patch.

I'd have a patch done myself if I had the source. Too bad they'll never release it.

HMdz! Halomaps clan. Awsome clan!
Jesus died on Friday and took two days to respawn. Talk about lag.
Why you looking at my sig? You must be bored.

Bungie can't do a thing, the game is owned by Microsoft, so if we we could organize every community/clan and as many people as possible and somehow contact Frankie, he's the only one if we could get 300 people a day to send him a message who knows what could happen?

I second that I really dont want a game I paid for go down the -blam!-er (atlest now we can find a fun match) but with this going its gonna be impossible

What we really should be asking for here people, is the source code.
It's an old game, and if they release it it would be upon us to take care of our game.
To make our own patches, etc.

The game is old, and in my opinion it would be easier for them (GBX, Bungie, Microsoft. Whoever) to just release the code, rather than to create a patch themselves.

As Btcc22 said though, it is highly unlikely.

Thing is, releasing the server source would only open it up to more abuse. However, I'm sure we'd see improvements too. ;)

Wouldn't you only need the client source?
Many types of aimbots/hacks would surface from that but someone might make an anti-cheat system possibly. Mabye something along the lines of VAC2.

Edit: silly me you would need the server source too :P

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

That patch does not work. Now the server is "gathering exception data". Nice try though.

i dont care who does it, but someone needs to FIX the loop ASAP.
I hope you're happy Bungie. Instead of fixing the loop, you just covered it up. Because of your laziness, Halo PC is Dying

lazy -blam-holes

Ya really....remove the links to that please.

A petition to get this fixed has been started.
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/halo1patch/signatures.html

Currently my clan's servers are up, but they keep getting taken down.
We know WHO is doing this, but we can do nothing to stop this, we need help from bungie on this one.

I have also looked at that code, I see why it loops, but can do nothing to create a patch to fix the program.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're allowed to sue people for doing this, right? Or, does it just crash the Halo dedicated serving program.. Thing. Yeah, I never used Halo DS's. =/

H1 and Halo Custom edition name: madkiller92
xfire:madkiller92

Isn't this what the new 1.07 build fixes?
And the guy who made it has a forum where he/other people HELP people who want to use it. I've seen threads over there about how to use it, and I saw a post:

that IS VULNERABLE messages means that the server is crashed and when the tool has tried to ping it the server has not replied.
the socket message instead means that the server has not replied, probably the server is not online or is crashed (natural if you receive this message when you relaunch the tool versus the same vulnerable server)
