I was looking around the Ideal Science (The company responsible for the B.net forums) website and found a screenshot of their new search engine!

Clicky Here!

As you can see I have been testing this....search thing (not really)

Anyways, stosh did post, just not in the underground as much as some of us. Now he posts so much more than any of us old underground guys, it's kind of sad even.

I have no idea why stosh changed his avatar to pink spartan. Maybe it was always for the "Don't be use -blam!-" line. We'll never know.

4/12/2004 Bungie.net launch! The new site is up and running, rebuilt from the ground up to be stronger, better and faster than its predecessor. Key features include a new ASP.NET archictecture, greatly enhanced forums, Xbox Live connectivity and loads of new content. More goodness to come. Stay tuned.

4/19/2004 Bungie.net Update #1.
Well, actually we updated once early last week to get rid of the nav bar floating in the middle of the screen.
- The post counter is gone. Some people seem to think that there was a reward or bonus for posting lots of things. That will never be the case. Hopefully some of you (you know who you are) will knock it off now that the post counter is gone forever.
- The topic listings were increase to show 25 topics, rather than 10. This should help you read the forums much easier.
- We fixed a lot of the missing links that were caused by old bookmarks and such.

So it was about a week, but I am sure that it FELT longer!

Does anyone remember Stosh's non-pink avatar in those days of yore?

Cool piece of Bungie.net history.

...and he never really posted, until the new hawtness.

I guess you never checked out chapter founders, the mob of angry peasants, or the old underground much...

I can vouch for that.

I'm looking forward to this new search feature. Should help to deal with the repeated topics problem. Hopefuly, that is. We'll just have to watch and find out.

It would help with the responsible users, but with the kind of people that visit The Flood now a days, I don't think they'd even bother.

Oh, wait. I remember the new hotness change. I helped a frinde sign up for a passport account and a new Bungie.net login, I was new and couldn't figure out how to add a passport to an old account. You must have been able to add a passport to an old account because I see some dates for joining that go way back. You could.... right???

You could from November 2003 to April of 2004. Once the new hotness launched though, any non-converted accounts were deleted, as we thought 6 months was long enough to wait for people to transition to passport.

Oh, and regarding Ideal Science - I should point out that not everything you see there will make it here. We are using a custom build of that code - we have the source code, and I have modified it heavily. Certain things don't make sense in our forum, other things I have specifically disabled, and still others impact performance too much. However, that's the beauty of the system - it is very modular, so we can mix and match.

Most likely, what will happen, is in the next update you'll get search, and a few other changes that assist in finding interesting threads. Then, sometime later, we'll revisit the forums and add more stuff. Maybe.

Thanks for the update, Achronos. It's good to hear things are comming together. I can't wait for the next update!

He's lucky. There were 99% less members back then.

I wasn't the best kid either though. I'm kinda... glad that there wasn't a ban function back then. Cause i probably wouldn't be here now if there was.

I know its off topic but does achronos really look like the guy in his avatar?
I always imagined him with like a halo and a holy smiting stick. Or maybe a suit of mjolnir...

Yo Halo53, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best bungie.net profiles of all time. OF ALL TIME!

Oh man, I remember how hectic it was in those 1 moderator days. We had a hell of a lot less members than as compared to now, too. Brings back good memories...
