They could possibly put bots in the game. They'd just have to limit the gametypes they'd be in.

Maybe make them more of an object, like a warthog. They can run around hop in vehicles, but are weaker than an average player, and look different as well. They should also not be allowed to be the winner of a game, or an mvp, etc.

Have them as a weak support unit type thing. They could follow you around, hop into vehicles, shoot bursts at enemies. But basically they aren't really substitutes for other players. This would make dropships, and transport busses-hogs, more likely in multiplayer.

I guess that by your reasoning, the single player bots are worthless and don't know how to drive Warthogs and such. They already have bots, the only change would be if they are for MP. I do not have xbox live and it is the only way I can play against lots of people. If I had xbl I would hardly ever use the bots.

Yeah. They could put a slightly edited version of the single player AI in multiplayer. Imagine using a dropship to fly 10+ marines, and a few player controlled spartans to the central part of the map, or maybe even the enemy base.

I was just typing a rebutle about how bots suck, then i realized, UT2003 bots kinda sucked, but they were a lot of fun. Although i just voted no, I guess i'm for them now.

Once again I find myself referring to Perfect Dark for the N64, but that is just because it is the only First Person Shooter I have played with Bots. You had the ability to play with or without them. You could change their difficulty level, you could pick the type of bot (stalker, explosive user, slow with heavy shield, etc), and yes, you could even give them customized strategies. You could set them to defend the case (or flag for Halo 2), you could set them to capture the case, always stay with you, always attack a certain player, etc. Bots were the coolest thing in Perfect Dark, and because of the Bots, that is how I got so good at that game, but nothing compares to real people but its not always easy to get a 16 person LAN party whenever you want. I really hope Bots are in Halo 2! It could very easily be done on XBox if it was done on N64.

You want bots? Go play Campaign mode. There are tons of them. Have fun there. We really don't need bots. I am not fully against them, but honestly the main game will be so much better anyways.

True... I guess we dont NEED bots, but if so many people WANT them, then why not?? THey dont have to be used, but could provide fun for offline play. Yeah the campaign will rock, but so will the MP maps, and Im sure those that cant play LAN and online would like to play the MP maps.

yeah but without bots then u cant play the MP levels unless u have live or friends. i think it would be cool because playing with bots in the MP levels would be so much different than playing just campaign.

If you want extra training do what I do. Play some levels on a lower difficulty. (note: I'm truthfully playing a level over and over in legendary, just so my stats will raise.) Even if they were in Halo 2 I wouldn't use them.

Ok whoever said the AI was stupid is an ignorant fool themselves. In Halo 1 your marines could take command of ghosts.

why does everyone say that if they make bots Bungie wont focus on other parts of the game, that is the most stupid arguement ever....

all they have to do is take the code from the actual single player and TWEAK it, not make a whole new code for bots, and besides, they coudl be very hard to play against....

if they use the single player code then they can make them on a legendary type difficulty, special ops elites anyone? and you people say these bots wouldnt be good practice AT ALL? give me a break

Actually your the first person to use the word stupid. But the AI is going to be very limited on the xbox. It certainly won't be like playing another human.

And just because things can get in vehicles doesn't make them smart. You can have a marine get in a ghost and have him sit there while getting shot at. It's what they do when they are in it.

the AI for Halo 2 is supposed to revolutionize gameplaying, so how on earth can you say the AI is going to be "limited", the AI is going to kick everyone's ass......normal for Halo 2 will most likely be as hard as legendary was for Halo CE

the best use for bots is not just when you are all lonely and feel like playing multiplayer, but when you only have one or 2 friends over and you can't really have a tremendously awesome time with multiplayer. SO put in some bots and have at 'em! 16 person game with only 3 controllers!!

of course CTF wouldn't be GREAT, but prisoner rockets just isn't the same without 15 other people...

Ok, for those who's argument is that playing with the bots wont be like playing a human... thats probably true... but thats still no reason not to have them. Sure it wont be like playing against others, but it will at least provide a way for those with no halo playing friends or live acess with a way to experience MP. Or for those with only a a couple friends that want a big game feel. If some of the MP maps are as large as we expect, even 4 players wont be fun on some...Theres really a million reasons to include them, and not many reasons not to include them. Why not have the option??

I've always been pro-bot. (No pun intended, for those who see it)

There are no valid reasons as to why bots should not be included in the game? If you don't want them, then don't turn them on. It's not like there wouldn't be an option to turn off bots if you don't want to play against them.

Even if the bots completely sucked (which they wouldn't), at least I wouldn't be roaming around multiplayer maps alone anymore.

Phew. I thought I was the only one who did that. :P

I did look at that 'Halo 2 Bot Speculation' page, and it is extremely interesting. I expected it to be some guy just ranting about how he wants bots, but it does have quite a few valid things in it. The only thing I'm not sure of is the Roomba statement. Maybe Parsons was just hinting at what he wanted Frank to buy him. Who can say no to a free Roomba?

SB-117

I dont really care about bots. I wouldnt mind having them so long as they cant join in Xbox Live! Besides, for those who dont have Xbox Live but could easily get it should pay for it anyway its going to be awesome playing halo2 online and thats something bots couldnt replace in a million years.
