Can we get something that checks the whole Halo directory for modified/added/missing files? Someone tried to convince me that changing the aiming circle of a rocket launcher from it, to a small dot isn't hacking. Such BS. Gives them an unfair advantage that most people without the know how, don't have.
That's not hacking anymore than changing your player color is hacking. You could argue that surround sound is an unfair advantage. Same goes with changing the gamma on your monitor for other games where it's dark.
As with any subject, there are many points of view. Without a doubt, 3rd party programs such as aimbot and sightjacker pc ARE hacks. Why? They give one player an unfair advantage over the next by means of illegal exploitation of software vulnerabilities. I just feel that 'skinning,' as it's called, also CAN be considered a hack, too. Think about it. Player A decides to change the circle of aim on a rocket launcher, which is pretty big, from the big circle, to a small point. This increases the player's aim with less crap on the screen. Player B's aim isn't so good, with that cumbersome circle on his/her screen. Unfair? I think so. Particularly when there are a lot of other players out there with less technical skill than the next person.
The Gamespy lobby isn't exactly scrolling a message saying "WANT AN UNFAIR ADVANTAGE? GO TO WWW.GETANUNFAIRADVANTAGEINHALO.COM" telling people how to skin.
I didn't come here anyway to point anyone out or name names (which I didn't). Funny though, the particular person I was referring to in my first post xfires me and tells me to 'grow up'. Apparently someone's never heard of FREEDOM OF SPEECH!
Having that said...I'm glad to see Bungie is addressing something to do w/ Halo. Lets hope it's a step in some sort of direction. Halo PC players need it!!
