And yeah, Opey could probably win that game without using his BR. Best SMG user in Halo.

As you all may have learned by now, Halo 2 will be featuring online co-op. Sure it sounds wonderful, but what about the downsides?

How many people can play online together?
What about people with no mics and can't do what you tell them to do (whether it be to snipe that damn Elite that has you covered, or to go on ahead while you cover him).

And what about lag? You can't be beating the crap out of an Elite then suddenly have your partner in front of you as you deliver the final blow! (oops! sorry dude!) You can't wait for him to spawn for that long. And what if your friends game freezes? Will you be left by yourself or will the game return to the menu and you lose all of that progress you've made!

But besides those sorrowful cons, Online Co-op sounds like a wonderful thing. It's just like having a deathmatch with your best friend against a bunch of bots!

Now what do you guys think?

1) Online co-op is NOT confirmed AT ALL. Heck, regular co-op isn't
2) Halo 2 isnt the first to have it. Rainbow Six 3 for example had a 4-player co-op for xbox live.
3) If there is it will only be 2 so that its not too easy and doesnt lag the game too much and due to technical reasons also.

Oh yeah I imagine players can come and go out of the game at their whim and rejoin while its in progress while the hosts game continues (just like rainbow six3)

1st of all bungie is making the game not u. so dont u think that bungie would have thought of all those pros and cons also? if they r going to do that then im sure they are working on it to make it as easy as possible.so just chill and stop trying to ruin all the cool new features game r now starting to support.

Congratulations on this being a decent thread.

Phantasy Star Online had 4 player co-op, and so did R63. I can't see why Halo 2 wouldn't.

No mics wouldn't be a problem. It would be like Ghost Recon, where you hear voices through your TV speakers.

I know, and I've played Rainbow Six3 and I can't stand it when people who have slow speeds mess me and themselves up!

1. Did I miss something? When was online co-op more than just a rumor?

2. If you don't have a mic, it's your fault, and you shouldn't be trying to play online co-op.

3. If co-op is too laggy for online play, Bungie won't make it an option.

Halo 2 is nothing like Rainbow Six 3 and Phantasy Star online. Its got millions of AI all over the place, rockets blowing up models and leaving marks into the ground making it lag more etc. 4-player co-op is unlikely and too crowded. I would prefer normal co-op so its simple and when you speak your partner knows that you are speaking directly to them.

yeah that sounds the best but i think that if they are not going to do 4 player co-op they need to at least have 2 player co-op over system link (system link not live. i have live but system link does not lag)

Ya know, I think I might of been dreaming when I heard the rumor of online co-op.
Oh I'm so confused, I don't know anything anymore!

I'd have to say that I know bungie is not stupid, but when you play co-op it does make the game a lot easier. For example, you can have your buddy wait behind in somewhere safe while you go and try and kill an assload of people knowing that if you die, you will just respawn next to your buddy.
