First off, I am kinda new here, in some way....

As I sit, reading the books, it became more ideal to me that the 4runner could actually be Human. I mean, think about it, what if MC discovers that they are. It would all make perfect sense. Humans try to make a superweapon that just so happens to be a virus, Humans succeed, Humans loose control of their new super weapon, Humans find a Flood Free ship, send it off into space, erase all past history, and then start over. It all would make sense in a Halo fiction way.

There are other clues in the game, such as when 343 guilty spark says he is catching up on all their lost time, or the whole fact that the bastered can speak English, or the fact that he does look pretty damn human built! In fact, the whole idea of a rotating ring is a very very humanoid thing on how to create gravity in space, Halo is just one step further!

I don't know, and I bet this topic has already shown up, but I wouldn't have known that... unless I stopped acting lazy and started looking for it!

What I find interesting is in the books the Covenant are searching for Halo. Maybe Halo, Humans, Covenant and the Flood are all together tied in and there was a giant war. In fact, I think this would be the best way to describe the whole thing with Halo. You see, maybe Humans never really made a whole lot of advancements, but they once use to be part of the covenants little...alliance. Something like the covenant never bothered the Humans and the Humans never bothered them. However, the Covenant discover that Humans are making something that could be a superweapon and wipe out the Covenant, so they strick back before they think it is finished. But in the last second when they think they have have destroyed everything, they discover that the humans had completed the superweapon. Curious to see if they could control it, the flood search for it, but have no succes. In the mean time, the humans (Loosing to the covenant) deside they cannot win against the uncontrollable superweapon or the covenant, so they send a spaceship to Earth. They crash the ship into the ocean and hope that it will never be found, and it never is, because it becomes an artificial reef. In the mean time, they have children and start the race all over again. However, they don't tell their children about space, so that way all links to the Humans failure is diverted away so that it will hopefully never happen again.

Back in space, another story is happening. The Humans in space quickly think up a name for themselves to cloak all the knownledge just incase humans did ever return. They call themselves the 4Runner. Well, their Halos are already build and hidden from the covenant (And in an unrealizing way, humans are protecting the covenant). Not realizing the covenant want the weapon, they kill all "4runner." The Covenant begin searching for the new superweapon (AKA the flood), but when they find it, they too cannot control it. Now they go trying to activate all Halo's, with the knownledge of their destruction.

When the Covenant see Humans, they think, Oh -blam!-, they may still be building more of these things, they try to destroy humans. They think of it as a mission from god, because god would not want all life to die because of one race!

Well, that's all I got!

Hello, I'm Daryl. Nice to meet you. See you around.

I'm with you on this one, it is a giant possibility. But... "or the whole fact that the bastered can speak English". Now, first of all, it is spelled "bastard", and second, English is a Latin derived language, which started way after the forerunner could have crash landed on earth. So how can the MC understand the grunts? I hear it is because he has a "translator" in his suit, so that would mean that possibly, he can translate GS's dialect, which would mean that the grunts and GS share the same language. So we can suspect that GS is speaking the forerunner language, which could be the Grunt language. And the Grunts may speak the Forerunner language because they worship them and etc. And another thing, GS recognizes MC's suit and guides him to the index without any questioning. Now, would it have happened if a Marine found him first? Or maybe GS used the MC, which I doubt because he says something along the lines of, "but you did know that, right, how couldn't you". And then he says "I'm afraid I have no choice" right before sicking the sentinels on his ass. Maybe it was all an act, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

What if when the crash landed they go rid of the language, but it somehow slipped by down a family line, until it finally got free? WOW! That would be interesting!

Sorry on my spelling! I am not the greatest!

Hello, I'm Daryl. Nice to meet you. See you around.

No problem. Yes I see where you are going, but it still strikes me wrong. English, as well as many other languages are derived from Latin. A lot of these languages were developed in a nation, like England, France, Spain, etc. In the United States (assuming you live there, but Bungie does, and that's my point) the commonly excepted language is English. Why would Bungie make Halo in Spanish on release? We can understand that the Grunts speak english and other races like the Elites just grunt and well, speak their language. GS is a big character in the story, and he speaks what his masters spoke (I assume). They could have made him speak Forerunner, and just had subtitles. That, or the Grunt language (translated language) is the same, which is the Forerunner language. So this could be Bungie being lazy and not realizing this (which I doubt), or that that GS dove into MC's mind and jingled some memory nerves and stole his vocabulary and symbolizations of the words.

Elites don't grunt, they speak backward English.

Wort Wort Wort=Go Go Go

I don't know much more, most thing just die when I see them!

Ahhhhhhh ...=Ahhhhhh (And I think they say Move um out or OOOOG I don't know)

EVERYTHING DIES WITH ME!

Hello, I'm Daryl. Nice to meet you. See you around.

Yes I know, that's just Bungie being creative. But they wanted them to seem as if they had an alien language, and they do.

Hello, I'm Daryl. Nice to meet you. See you around.

Yes but didn't the A.I.s have to have learned the language or been fed a dictionary or something? They can't just pick up a language out of nowhere, that makes no sense. So guilty must have made contact with the English language somewhere, or is just being translated by MC's whateverdevice. Which leads to that giant paragraph I typed before.

i agree with the poriginal post, and another sign is, that the flood are parasites and when they capture creatures, they eat some of them, and turn some of them into fellow flood (listen to the index in the library, he explains ALOT) well, in the 343gs and library, the flood have human forms only, and they would have mutated the forerunners they killed right? so the fact that the flood are "human" mean that forerunners could also have been to. i'm going to listen to the index again in the library, though, he tells you everything about the flood themselves - just take it slow or stop when he talks.

Yes, the Covenant do have their own language, but why is it that they seem to know English. They say in their language that they are the covenant, but then they say in English they have to kill us. That makes no sense.

Hello, I'm Daryl. Nice to meet you. See you around.

Yes I knew you were going to say this so I prepared this response :D: You can't pick up a language from going to a german Army training camp and listening to them talk. You would probably pick a bunch of obscene phrases (me being stereotypical here). It's the future, but we still live in a world with rules. This isn't Tron, this is a well backed up and thought out fiction.

Oh, and the Covenant don't speak English, they speak Covenant. It is just that the Grunt language is translated.

you know what I think has happend here? I think that bungie never intended people to try and pry so deep into the backstory and history of halo that they didn't really cover/care about any of this. I think you guys are just looking at things and trying to bring yourselfs to your own conclusions so you can sleep at night. But then, I might be very wrong and be under estimating how complexe the minds of bungie staff really are....

Yeah... I guess you have a point with the hieroglyphics (I www.dictionary.comed it). But what disgrutled said, he makes a very good point. Oh, and there was no reason to call me a jerk.

Well I doubt the flood and covenant and humans were together because the flood are just little parasites the size of watermelons. They can only be the large body shaped flood if they eat something or someone. Like the exploders are grunts, the large alien looking ones are elites and the others are obviously humans. They wouldn't get along because the parasites would get hungry and ea........never mind. You can say that the covenant and humans would be running around like the people in Ratchet and Clank 2 running from protopets.

Hello, I'm Daryl. Nice to meet you. See you around.

Never played that Crash/Jak wannab..... nevermind. Ok I'm just kidding there.

That is the same thing I thought but then I saw somewhere, or maybe I just came up with this on my own, that the big ones are the elites, the skinnier ones are the jackals, and the big terrorists (fat ones that explode) are the grunts.

No problem impurity, sometimes I get too into it and I feel like talking like this: U -blam!- FCKING -blam!-S I HATE JOO ALL.

"The bigger ones with little things coming off their face, I'm not to sure on." I can't picture the ones you are talking about.

Look at that one, it has hooves just like a Grunt. But that is a fan made site, by people who know as much as we do.
