Theres always an easy way to do these things if it wasnt already built ingame. Get the software to be able to open .map files from halo which i have for halo pc like HMT3(Halo map tool 3) and get the software to be able to edit the files on the cd its self of Halo 2 for Xbox unless its gonna be for pc its gonna be a lot easier and i dont even know if u need special software to burn edited files on xbox cd's. Then you just have to open the picture of masterchiefs skin under bitmaps which it should say something like cyborg in the name, for master chiefs skin. Then save the file from the .map file on to your hardrive and make sure to make a backup of the origional file of the skin and then you just need a paint program like paintshop pro or adobe photoshop(which i have) and then your probably gonna have to download a plugin so that you can open the special type of file that the picture is which i cant remember the type. Then you just open it up with PSP or AP7 after you downloaded the plugin and then you just paint the skin from there, and o ya you must remember that there is only one peice of each body part in the picture so what ever you paint on that part of the body part will be mirrored on the other side, for example if you were to write something like MC on his shoulder it would say CM on his other shoulder, very annoying if i could say... And after your all done painting save it as the same type of file it was origionally. Then go back and open HMT3 again and click on the origional Skin of Masterchief and click inject texture then it should display the skin you just made and after that click save. and o ya make sure you dont edit the size of the picture, and i dont mean the file size i mean the picture size, and then close the map file, so it wont freeze the game when you try to load the level.
Im not sure this would work for Halo 2 because of all the stuff there changing but heres a little tutorial on how to skin for halo. I know i didnt have to do this but i was bord.
