Memento Mori

My God, he could take my life, the person watching this next to me actually esploded. It was terrible, does the president know about this? PLAISE HE MUST BE STOPPED

To everyone saying "get a hobby", what do you deem an appropriate hobby? When you were kids, you didn't build stuff? Maybe you didn't build weapons out of cardboard, but what exactly did you do with your spare time that was so constructive?

To everyone saying "get a life", how do you know he doesn't have one? He's got what, 20 videos posted? You know all about his personal life based on 20 videos?

To everyone saying "what a nerd/dork/geek", I guess you were the coolest guys around when you were in middle school/beginning of high school. You weren't the least bit awkward, and all you did every day was go out and have sex with your girlfriends and tell everyone about it the next day. I mean, holy -blam!-, you must've been awesome dudes to hang out with. And apparently you still are, what with all the free time you have to make derogatory comments about this kid doing something he likes to do. I bet after you made your negative comment, you called up all your awesome buddies and told them to check out how you totally called him a dork on a video game forum. You guys will be laughing about that for years to come. Good for you.

To all the naysayers: Grow up. Actually, never mind. It appears you have already grown up and forgot what it's like TO BE A KID. Kids have boatloads of free time. They do different things. I would spend hours building cities out of legos by myself. Then I would spend hours hanging out with my friends. My playing with legos alone didn't mean I had no friends. It didn't mean I didn't have a life. It was just me doing something I liked to do. This kid likes to make awesome cardboard models. So he does. There's really no need to flame him for that.

Reminds me of the good old days when I would make pirate swords out of cardboard... this kid obviously has much more ingenuity seeing as how he made actual, reloading weapon models. Pure genius.

youtube search me.

how do you guys know he didn't buy those weapons or that they are really his?? and il bet most of the people defending him are just like him.

  • 07.11.2008 12:46 PM PDT

Live free, play hard!

I applaud the kid. He's being creative. Just because it's "guns" does not mean he has a tendency towards ACTUAL violence. He's a FAN. Leave it at that folks and don't over think it.

In my opinion he DOES deserve Recon. He's displayed an obvious passion for the game, as well as relative skill in recreating the weapons from it.

We should not be so quick to judge him or whatever your perceived ulterior motives you think this kid has.

Instead we should hope his parents nurture the creative side of him. He could go on to become a great mechanical engineer someday.

I think it's ridiculous the number of negative posts towards him. In part I'd bet many of those who posted negatively are JEALOUS. Jealous because he made it into a Bungie blog. Jealous because they wish they'd have thought of it first. Jealous because they don't have his skill, and so on.

Kudos to you little man, now go and take those creative skills and make something more out of them, something great for society.

Oh and PUZ, I agree with you too!

I UNDERSTAND ART :)

i only darw in black and white (Lead Pencil) im a Perfectionist when it comes to drawing spending long periods of time on what sparks my interest something of High Detail like the
Blue Eye's White Dragon (B.E.W.D.) on a 12in by 8in paper i spent 12hrs 36min 42sec on it 6hr which were consecutive. it was my most Detailed drawing ever and all my art work was thrown away by the new art teacher its like u see these amzimg drawindgs most laminated and a name on it and u throw it away.

PS: My eye's hurt when i draw because i don't blink for long periods of time.

stick me... and il run into ye!

there really cool and all but.... that kid is the biggest nerd I have ever seen! I mean he must like spend his weekends playing capture the flag in his garden by himself while being stared at by his next door neighbour.

Gotta say the turret was the best and I really didn't like the costume, probably because mc has a somewhat more muscular body than this kid lol.

I don't want random messages (ie, Join my group, etc). I have begun blocking solicitations.

Exactly. Making one weapon is cool. Making the entire inventory is overboard. Most people don't get it, but one's life should be balanced. Not too much of any one of few things. And not too little of any one or few things (though there are some things you should just completely not do, and while a thing may be good most of the time, it can be bad if you take it too far).

I agree that one's life should be balanced, but just because his isn't according to one's own standards, it doesn't give one the right to make fun of him. People are naturally drawn to the things they enjoy [obv]. Some people are more drawn to specific things, and eventually isolate these things until they're the only thing they do, hence obsession, or dare I say, addiction . Contrary to the uneducated belief, drugs aren't the only things people can become addicted to. Do you know how this kid's mind works? No. Do I? No. But based on the knowledge and experience that I have, I think it's fair to say this kid is addicted to Halo, in the literal sense. In that case, you shouldn't be making fun of him, because he's not choosing to continually be addicted, he just is. Then again, maybe it's just a phase, and he'll outgrow it. Point is, people don't know this guy, and you can't make a definite judgment about his sociability until you do.
Additionally, shame on you who insult him. Fear of difference and lack of understanding are the sole basis of your name-calling. Just because it isn't something you would do doesn't make it wrong. This kid has a life; maybe you should try using yours for something productive instead of typing pointless insults that make you appear asinine.
Finally, I just want to express my admiration for the boys ingenuity, and sense of humor. The sound effects and teabagging made me laugh, and I was impressed by the attention to detail and amount of time put in to what he's done.
