If you read the end of first strike you know that any attempt to go to the covie homeworld would fail. The reason they wouldn't get past the massive guns that kill anything that doesn't have the right codes or just doesn't look normal. So I've determined two things

1. Something BIG will happen in halo 2, so BIG that somehow the covie homeworld will be defeated. I don't know what that is but it obviously isn't jacking a ship and taking it there.

2. Good thing Mc and his spartans didn't go on that missions or they would have been shot the moment they neared the the covie homeworld.

What do you guys think...

Maybe earth will launch one final major assault against the covie homeworld, just as a diversion, so that the MC and a small group of others can plant a big Nuke somewhere.

Maybe they'll use one of the Halo installations against the covies. Like self destruct it or drive it into the planet.

ummm... why whould the covie shoot down their own ship if they didnt know the spartans where inside? Thats why they have cortana so cortana can hack in and give alll the codes to the covie homeworld

That can't be right, because in the books the covenant do the same damn thing to the humans! Well, except we know they almost always win...

lets face it, humanity is on the eve of destruction, we cant push the covies back, cant spare the men either, so ive concluded that despite all of our efforts the human race will fall or.... another advanced race will be discovered, this time we will find out that the covies have been pissing them off too and together we will kick the hell out of anything covie or....
we will beat them somehow using the Halos because i dunno bout u guys but 343GS said somethings that were extremely fishy in the books...

humanity even with the all mighty mc cannot push back such a massive assault therefore (in my own theory) someone or something might strike the heart of the covenant empire forcing the covies to cancel the invasion

may i ask did the flood gain enough control of the truth and reconciliation to fly it?

*Spoiler warning*

In the Book "The Flood" they explain that the ODSTs were able to gain control of most of T&R but the flood was still lurking inside it. I forget her name but one of the officers realized, with the help of our partially Flooditized Jenkins, her Commander was too dumb to see bringing the T&R with the flood in it was a very BAD idea, so she blew it up with everyone and thing inside.

As for that strike at the heart of the Covies, Spartan Kelly and Dr. Heasly ( Creator of the Spartan project) left on some unknown mission in "First Strike". Still don't know what it was but it could have something to do with it.

In the book it says that it didn't matter if there were covies inside, if they hesitated a few seconds and didn't give the right codes they woukd get shot down.

I dont think so.. the brute at the end of FS (Tartarus) had maybe a piece of it, he showed it to the Prophet of truth.

***Spoiler!***

In the Halo book First Strike the desperate Spartans stuck on Reach manage to escape the doomed planet to get to the Chief. A while later the Spartans, the Chief, and the surviving Marines, steal a Covenant Vessel with almost no problems at all. If about 6 Spartans, 1 Marine Sergeant, an ODST trooper, a Pelican pilot, a Admiral, and a Lieutenant in the Office of Naval Intelligence can take an armed Covenant Vessel without Human warships. Than maybe the Humans can push to the Covenant homeworld and make a huge assault there.

If Bungie does have a large-scale assault on the Covenant homeworld. I hope that it is like the beginning of the first Russian mission in Call of Duty. Cool, but also unlikely, but still cool.

Oh ya that would be awesome. (Call of Duty is a good game) It would be tight if there was like all the human forces and all the covenant forces, then they all battle it out in space and your right in the middle of it. That would be awesome but you know that the covenant would win.

for the last time taking that ship would NOT work, they would be blasted out of the sky without the right codes and the codes change every few hours.

I believe I've read somewhere that the ending of Halo 2 would have a sense of closure. Thus I think something truly dramatic must happen. Either the Covenant will fall or humanity and the Covenant will be forced to join forces against 343 Guilty Spark and the Flood. Also, I think Master Chief might die at the end of Halo 2. If the Halo series really is concluding with Halo 2, that would be a good way to end it. In the books, MC is states several times that he's willing to die to protect humanity. Thus he might have to sacrifice himself in order to destroy the Covenant homeworld. What do you guys think?

Nah, I think Halo 2 will probably go something like this:

The Covenant are bombarding Earth, MC joins the fight and helps hold them off as much as he can. Eventually we find out that the Covenant are looking for something on Earth, possibly the coordinates of another Halo. MC beats the Covies to whatever it is they're looking for, and we launch off to find another Halo to use against the Covenant.

Somewhere along the line the Flood come back into play, so I figure either a greedy human wants to use the Flood as the ultimate bioweapon (ala Aliens), or the Covies try to unleash the Flood on Earth, or at least catch up to the MC and try to unleash it on him on the new Halo. Granted, Bungie said there WILL be a huge plot twist or two just like in Halo, so I may be wrong on a few things.

Ultimately, I think we're going to end up firing a Halo at the Covie homeworld, and that will be the end of it. I'm pretty confident in this because the Flood are taken straight from Starhammer, as well as a lot of Halo having been influenced by Starhammer. Besides, Earth is clearly outmatched, the only way to defeat the Covenant at this point is to decapitate the serpent: Destroy the Homeworld.

We'll see, but I really don't think any human will ever set foot on the Covenant homeworld.

Cheers!

You know what would work damn well? Stealing about 6 Covenant ships, loading them with Flood from another Halo ring, sending them to the Covie homeworld with Cortana clones onboard to pass the codes, and watching all hell break loose. Of course, before you know it you have a planet full of combat forms and a hell of a distracted fleet. So, at this point when the Covies are all messed up, you jump in with a lot of specially outfitted cruisers (read: highly radioactive) and send about 1,000 extremely high-yield and very dirty nukes to the planet, anihilating everything there and possible destroying the planet itself. Boom. Job done.

Cortana could probally hack in that fast to get the codes, because in .02 seconds she can send over a billion pings to overide a server node

Ok First of all two words: Nuclear--blam!--Weapons. As in *cough* NOVA. Have you guys even read First Strike for gods sake?? Admiral Whitecomb was protecting the NOVA nukes (AKA Planetkillers), thats why he was an ass to Fred when he ordered them to help them out. They got the Covie to pick all 3 novas up, and take them into a ship. Also, they set the countdown timer for something like 2 days or something, as not to give them to much time to tinker. If those bombs make it back to Covie central KABOOM!

EDIT- Oh yea, about the sense of closure, ITS only a sense, but they say it will still leave you wanting more as in Halo 3 (a slight possibility) As we all know how much bungie likes three (marathon)

First of all , there were only 3 novas, they all remained groundside for the duration of the 10 days, and when the chief arrived on reach, they only had 20 hours left and the covenant had not picked them up yet, but had tinkered with them, after they escaped reach it effectively blew itself inside out.
